Hey! Ive noticed a distinct lack of Beast:The Primordial content, and decided to step in!

As stated in the title. I do plan on expanding into other splats and other things in the Chronicles of Darkness, but im starting with the splat that made me fall in love with the world and system! Id really appreciate it if y'all would check it out!

I know other comments have been discouraging, but I say good luck and that I'm interested in what you're making.

I'm not exactly a fan of Beast myself at least having them as player characters (I prefer using them as flat out villain characters), but I wouldn't be against someone trying to do more with it.

It's also fair to note that, according to two people who worked on the game (Dave Brookshaw and Olivia Hill), Matt McFarland was actually very uninvolved with the game's production and a lot of the problematic elements people criticize it for have much more to do with a lack of oversight and direction (not that it excuse Matt or the issues with Beast, but it's fair to clarify.) Here are the sources in case you're curious

Just wanted to comment and show support for your efforts. I'm currently planning a Beast chronicle set in 1980s Miami. So any sort of Beast content is good for helping learn the system.

Hello, yes please! The ideas and concepts are pretty powerful. It’s a unique and intense horror game. I will buy it :)

Oh shit, is that new?

Yeah, really good.
It expands beasts, gives new antagonist, and player options

Beast the Primordial+Plagiarism Machine slop is not going to go over well here.

I don’t know if I laughed harder at “Breast stops” or “Me have no hope”

There are very understandable reasons why this game doesn't get brought up near as much. That said, there are certain aspects of the game that I like, and there are others I don't. If you were to tell me, "Would you play a game about having your soul replaced with that of ancient monster, and now you must feed on the fears of humanity?" If that were the only thing involved, I might consider it. At the same time, someone can also say about the game, "Do you wanna roleplay an abuser that gaslights and victim blame the innocent for the most part and justify themselves as right to do so?" Probably not. If the game didn't try to justify its abuser aspect as " It's OK to do this," then it would probably be easier to sell. Then you have the Matt scandal to deal with on top of all that.

As someone who personally knows the lead author of Beast, I’ll never include it in my games. I do think your intentions are good, but this specific splat was created by a monster to justify being a monster.

I love BtP, but I think the writer missed the point by trying to make us empathize too much with the Horror by focusing on the narrative of us being teachers of lessons. Imo Beast the Primordial, more than other splats maybe, is about compulsion and revilement. You can find symbiosis with the Horror, that's for you to decide, but when the writer keeps bringing us back to "we're good, actually" that's where I get the ick

No it doesn't say you're good actually.

I take the "we're teaching" stuff as in character propaganda that the beasts lie to themself about, like the whole "score board" spiel the hunting club from slashers is doing. In general, I use beast in much the same way as slashers, a villains handbook

I'm good thanks 😅
