Always loved how visually striking this movie is. The forest shots, in particular, truly embody how I’d imagine a fantasy forest looking like.

I think it was shot in a big studio, which made those shots feel dream-like.

Yes, it was filmed at Pinewood Studios in England. The scale of those sets is truly remarkable! I don't think the film would have looked as good or as dream-like (well put!) if it had been shot in a real forest. As it is, it looks more like an illustration than real life.

If you're interested in visually creative movies with crazy sets, bearing in mind that it might not be to everyone's taste, I'd highly recommend the film Kwaidan. I discovered it last year and loved it!

This set gave me nightmares, especially the man they are cooking or torturing in the fire

Legend (1985) PG

There may never be another dawn.

Set in a timeless mythical forest inhabited by fairies, goblins, unicorns and mortals, this fantastic story follows a mystical forest dweller, chosen by fate, to undertake a heroic quest. He must save the beautiful Princess Lili and defeat the demonic Lord of Darkness, or the world will be plunged into a never-ending ice age.
