Genuinely believe this film is the single best piece of Harry Potter media that exists - better than any of the books, even, including the one it’s based on. And I’d say all the other books are better than all the other movies - but Cuarón is so fucking incredible.

I think the first two movies also deserve a ton of credit as well, not only for establishing that terrific cozy feeling that Cuarón adds a terrific “chilliness” and darkness to, but for pulling off the adaptation in general.
And even though there’s some wonky CGI in the first two movies there’s waaay more VFX shots that work than those that don’t, and sometimes you don’t even know it’s VFX

These stills are gorgeous, but Cuaron's direction really shines when you see his shots unfolding in full motion. His camera movement is immaculate, true magic.

This movie is the best shot Harry Potter movie. You feel the grimness right from the start. This movie also setup the tone for future movies of the franchise unlike the previous two. And the sets of this movie feels so realistic yet something that were made by people with magic. Cuarón is a brilliant choice to direct this film

Honestly, I always thought Prisoner of Azkaban had the best cinematography of all of the Harry Potter films. This movie is such a well-shot damn.

It’s the scene where Lupin teaches Harry the patronus charm for me. Talk about texture🤌

It's crazy how we went from this to [Insert last super hero movie released], and I'm not even a fan of Harry Potter. Genuine craftmanship.

It was awesome seeing this in theatres again last night, and Cuaron’s directing along with Seresin’s cinematography is not only the best in the series but to me some of the best of its kind in this sort of bigger budget filmmaking. The camera work never stops being holy shit level.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) PG
Something wicked this way comes.
Year three at Hogwarts means new fun and challenges as Harry learns the delicate art of approaching a Hippogriff, transforming shape-shifting Boggarts into hilarity and even turning back time. But the term also brings danger: soul-sucking Dementors hover over the school, an ally of the accursed He-Who-Cannot-Be-Named lurks within the castle walls, and fearsome wizard Sirius Black escapes Azkaban. And Harry will confront them all.

Worst ending shot. I remember being HYPED for this, it was my favorite book and the trailer was dope. Parts were epic but I'll never get over the ending shot.
Also, fuck TERFs.

when Chris Columbus came back to the saga
He did? In what capacity?
After #3 he wasn't even producing any entry.

Harry Potter films from start to finish went really hard on cinematography and production design. Rewatching it I realized how every magical places felt like they could exist somewhere irl.
