70s Styx discography review by the Rolling Stone Album Guide (2004).

Styx might be the worst band ever according to Rolling Stone, especially before 1978.

I once met someone whose favorite band was Styx. I thought it was weird. To me they are a 150% a B level band, and B level bands aren't ever anyone's favorite.

Styx was my favorite band at one point.

Of course I was like 12 and hadn't heard many albums yet. The more I heard other albums, the further down my favorites list they fell (until falling off that list completely).

I think they are a good band for younger people. Their music is very broad and works better for folks who are maybe newer fans to rock.

I once worked (at a record store, in fact) with a woman whose favorite singer was Dennis DeYoung and favorite band was Air Supply. This was around 1993, which makes it even more unhinged.
