With this recent skid, it feels like our playoff hopes are slipping away. The way we’re playing right now, it’s hard to find much to be optimistic about. How’s everyone else feeling about the future of this team?

In the past, we’ve always managed to stay in the mix with young guys stepping up, but this season just feels different. The Clase/Ortiz situation is wild, but honestly, this team never really had any mojo to begin with. For the first time in a long time, I’m genuinely worried about where we’re headed. Ownership won’t spend, the bats have disappeared, and the scrappy energy that used to define us just isn’t there anymore. And I can’t shake the feeling that Kwan might get traded this winter since we all know ownership won’t pay him.

I’ll always be a diehard, but man… this season has me more concerned than ever. Curious how the rest of you are seeing it.

Being a Cleveland fan for years is tough I know, for all of us. But when is ownership actually going to wake up and realize that we need to spend money and stop putting as much effort in the farm team. I was watching the game as I do everyday and one of our player development people said that we put max effort into younger players. What is the point when we “raise” Shane Bieber and we let him go, Lindor, let him go, I feel like I could go on and on. It is hard to get exciting when we have minor leaguer become an all star and then we let them go. Jose accepted a cheap offer from us, they didn’t even try with Bieber. Also, we keep players like Nolan around which is a whole other issue. Point is, when we have a gem like Bieber, Lindor, don’t let them go. This ownership is actually the worst I’ve ever seen in the history of American sports. Thanks for listening to my rant.

I know this probably feels like a “kick ‘em while they’re down” post… but I promise it’s not. I took in the Guards/Rangers game today at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. For not really ever seeing this stadium on any “best of” lists, I wasn’t expecting a whole lot. I left extremely impressed.

That being said, this visit just exacerbates my feeling that Progressive Field is really starting to feel its age. I know that the Guards have done a number of “upgrades” over the past few years, and it’s certainly helped. But at the end of the day. It’s lipstick on a pig. All these newer parks just have so much stuff that Progressive Field can never have.

At 31 years old, and the eighth oldest park in baseball, we’ve got to be getting close to the point of thinking about what the future plans look like, right? Or am I putting the horse ahead of the cart here? We can’t even get the Dolan’s to keep a young star or sign an above average free agent. In what world do they try and finance a new stadium, right?

Either way. Will be interesting to see how long Jacob’s Field/Progressive Field sticks around in its original form.
