In the least easily readable format possible? Am I an old man yelling at cloud for wanting a simple table? šŸ˜‚

u/GeorgePosada Villanova Wildcats 3d ago

Glad you said it. Did it have to be diagonal too?

22

u/hanz333 Kentucky Wildcats 3d ago

Dutch angle abuse isn't just for film.

25

u/Jumpy-Fail2234 Texas Tech Red Raiders 3d ago

This is horrible

20

u/eddie_the_zombie Dayton Flyers 3d ago

Why are there blank balls at the bottom?

Why isn't the text formatted to make it look like they're actually printed on the balls and saturated so that they're more readable?

Why does the Memphis logo look like the shittiest crop just randomly pasted on the image?

This is just bad

u/voxnihili_13 Utah Utes 3d ago

Maybe you are, but this old woman looked at two schools and decided this wasn't worth my time.

Could be greatest schedule of all time, but all I saw is that they are playing UNLV and maybe a green team before tapped out.

u/One_Stranger_5661 Purdue Boilermakers 3d ago

Would also accept a bar graph

42

u/Eaboyle57 Purdue Boilermakers 3d ago

Yea, THIS is how you release a noncon schedule

5

u/One_Stranger_5661 Purdue Boilermakers 3d ago

Thank goodness I can actually read this one

Stick to your spreadsheets grandpa

I love this graphic but I feel like Memphis logo should be on a ball too. And maybe make it decked out more than the other balls or something idk I hate the white box

83

u/steveoriley Creighton Bluejays • Big East 3d ago

The Memphis logo being set there makes it kind of look like clip art and I find it hard to read, but I appreciate the attempt

7

u/quacainia Texas A&M Aggies 3d ago

At first I thought someone added it after the fact, like an MS Paint copy paste addition

45

u/Billy_Madison69 Indiana Hoosiers 3d ago

This graphic is like a college project that you put so much effort into, then realize with 5 minutes to go before it’s due you forgot one of the most important parts and just slap it on.

14

u/irreleventnothing Marquette Golden Eagles • San Franci… 3d ago

Fr it’s like they were about to post and then were like ā€œwait where is our logo??ā€

6

u/_Apatosaurus_ Gonzaga Bulldogs 3d ago

"This is a sick graphic! Who's schedule is it, though...?"

"....ah fuck."

8

u/chuckdooley Kansas Jayhawks 3d ago

Yes, it looks like mspaint photoshop

1

u/Different-Mountain58 Oregon Ducks 3d ago

It should’ve been set behind the ā€œnon conference scheduleā€ text on the blue ball

-12

u/cccm7 3d ago

Totally Agreed. The graphic team at Memphis has been elite lately.

149

u/awt4190 UConn Huskies 3d ago

Well, when you play in a one-bid league you have no choice

39

u/zags-not-zogs Gonzaga Bulldogs 3d ago

Plenty of mid majors can’t and/or don’t schedule like this

34

u/drowse North Texas Mean Green • Purdue Boilermak… 3d ago

Yeah I’d like to see Louisville or Purdue agreeing to play North Texas in OOC. It ain’t gonna happen.

10

u/GuyOnTheMike Kansas State Wildcats • Wichita St… 3d ago

I’m sure they would agree to it, but only to one game at Yum or Mackey…and nothing else. Quality mid-majors don’t want to fill their non-cons with buy games against high-majors that they’ll likely lose. Beating good mid-majors (which on the road could sneak a Q1 win) will probably help a team more than losing five games at P5 schools when none of them are coming back to your campus next year.

Even then, Memphis still has four road games plus a four-team tournament. I’m sure they’ll get a return game from Utah State. I think there’s a good chance the Mississippi schools and Louisville play a return game…but it’s also a close trip and Memphis is in a bigger market than those schools and an NBA arena, which are two things that nearly all mid-majors can’t sell when trying to schedule tougher.

2

u/PenisProstate Cincinnati Bearcats 3d ago

Minor point of contention, but Louisville is slightly larger than Memphis in both metro area population and TV market size. They’re practically the same size though. Ignore unless you’re extremely nerdy like me.

1

u/GuyOnTheMike Kansas State Wildcats • Wichita St… 3d ago

Honestly wasn’t sure, but didn’t want to look it up and thought Memphis was a little bit bigger because they have an NBA team

4

u/HopRockets Davidson Wildcats • Duke Blue Devils 3d ago

I mean Louisvilles non con is absolutely loaded this year

2

u/Affectionate-Day2743 Purdue Boilermakers 3d ago

honestly i don't want to see North Texas again for a long time. lol

2

u/drowse North Texas Mean Green • Purdue Boilermak… 3d ago

Yeah. Bad example.. but I couldn't help but prod :)

0

u/GeicoFrogGaveMeHerp Ole Miss Rebels 3d ago

Well Louisville isn’t a mid major.

11

u/Traditional-Magician Kentucky Wildcats 3d ago

Wait. They aren't?

12

u/HorilkaMedPerets 3d ago

Of course not. Mid majors win games in their conference.

0

u/pharmacy_guy Purdue Boilermakers 3d ago

Ironically, Purdue is one of the teams that Memphis plays this year, albeit in a MTE. In addition to the 4 Power 5 teams Purdue plays, they also play 3 teams from mid major conferences, so Purdue is not the best choice for your point. When Power 5 teams schedule mid majors, it is almost always ones from their geographical region. Therefore, you should be mad at Houston, Texas, Texas Tech, etc. for refusing to schedule UNT.

3

u/drowse North Texas Mean Green • Purdue Boilermak… 3d ago

You'd think Grant McCasland would have some empathy and schedule us. But nope.

2

u/Herby20 Purdue Boilermakers 3d ago

Plus they regularly schedule mid-majors who make frequent appearances in the tournament like Yale last year or Morehead State and Samford from two years ago.

5

u/vikinick Gonzaga Bulldogs • West Coast 3d ago

Yeah, like I think we're probably able to schedule some of these games because we have enough fans and clout at this point to make it financially viable, but there's no shot that like... USD could go to like Baylor and get a home-and-home. Like their biggest non-conference opponent (other SDSU) was Arizona State.

Nobody is willing to play you unless you're really good for a while or have a large fanbase.

3

u/Qwertyioup111 VCU Rams 3d ago

Can confirm, vcu can’t get anywhere close to this

1

u/GurDull3692 St. Bonaventure Bonnies 3d ago

When's VCU's OOC slate come out?

2

u/Qwertyioup111 VCU Rams 3d ago

There’s no indication that it’s ready

1

u/2livecrewnecktshirt VCU Rams 1d ago

Our OOC schedule has been so disappointing the last several years. Almosy nobody is willing to play us at home. At best there's maybe 2 games worth going to before January.

2

u/Durian_Puzzleheaded 3d ago

Honestly last year may have been the exception for The American. They’ve been making a push for stronger non conference schedules in order to avoid being a one bid league again and I’m beginning to see American teams engaging in more serious non conference matches across the board

3

u/awt4190 UConn Huskies 3d ago

Unfortunately the committee will never respect it, sadly. Love what the AAC has done. UNT was a wagon last few years.

2

u/Durian_Puzzleheaded 3d ago

UNT, UAB, Memphis, and some others are programs that should all consistently be contenders for a bid. Having to only take one each year makes no sense

5

u/cccm7 3d ago

Well, that’s true but also not everyone in one-bid leagues gets to schedule these teams.

4

u/TikiLoungeLizard Washington State Cougars 3d ago

At least not at home, anyway

It's so important too, hopefully it's a chance to pick up another Q1 game so we can avoid all Q3/Q4 games after conference play started like last year

2

u/hanz333 Kentucky Wildcats 3d ago

I remember when it came out Louisville media (probably pushed by Tom Jurich) made a big deal about Memphis being below them as they were in the middle of their pitch to the ACC.

-1

u/Ok-Extension-2624 Louisville Cardinals 3d ago

From a football standpoint and the timeframe, he was absolutely right.

Not as hilarious as WV and KY governors arguing about who got the Big 12 invite, but close!

Memphis and Bama for the toughest non cons? Who else is up there close? 4 roadies at tough buildings

15

u/doctornph Arizona Wildcats 3d ago

Arizona. They have UCLA, Florida, UConn, Auburn, Alabama, San Diego State…only the auburn game is in Tucson

3

u/terryaki_chicken Alabama Crimson Tide 3d ago

Damn, thats one hell of a schedule

5

u/Lee-Key-Bottoms NC State Wolfpack 3d ago

Like NC State’s is hard, maybe top 10 in the country hard, but I’d still put it a tier below this

2

u/Old-Medicine-9315 3d ago

Top 10 is probably just going to be Memphis, Bama, and low majors. Yall do play a good schedule but it’s probably more in the 50-100 range (partially depending on how your tourney plays out).

6

u/SwatsBlockman Louisville Cardinals 3d ago

Ours is very respectable as well:

  • Kentucky
  • @ Arkansas
  • @ TennesseeĀ
  • Indiana (neutral floor in Indy)
  • Memphis
  • Cincinnati (neutral floor in Cincinnati)

3

u/bezzlege Louisville Cardinals 3d ago

It’s a great schedule, but it’s still got a lot of buy games. I wouldn’t put it up with these two.

2

u/Karltowns17 Kentucky Wildcats 3d ago

This schedule is legit. I know they have to. But it’s still great to see.

2

u/zqipper Duke Blue Devils 3d ago edited 3d ago

@Tennessee; Texas (N); @Army; Kansas (N); Arkansas (N); Florida (H); @Michigan St; Michigan (N)

I think Duke’s non-con ain’t easier than either of these.

3

u/Townkrier Maryland Terrapins 3d ago

Three roadies for Duke is impressive. I remember many years at the end of K’s career where Duke didn’t have a road game until January

3

u/zqipper Duke Blue Devils 3d ago

Yeah, Jon and Nina are definitely modernizing scheduling for the program.

Auburn has a great non-con. UConn has a lot of quality opponents as well.

1

Arkansas hasn’t released their non-con schedule yet, but I know Duke, Houston, Michigan State, Texas Tech, and Louisville will all be on it. Ā Only the Louisville game will be at home.

2

I’m gonna be honest I’m super happy with Milwaukee’s non-con schedule so far. It would be damn near perfect if the one high-major didn’t literally buy out of playing us in the MTE.
