Or deception. Now if Israel does anything it will be viewed as aggression rather than self-defense, and Hezbollah can claim moral high-ground and righteous indignation.

Yeah, that's why I said deception. This whole 'anti-escalation message' is hogwash, clearly, but it won't stop Hezbollah from using it as an opportunity for scoring PR points against the IDF.
