Why do so many people think physical punishment is going to correct a serious mental health issue? This is not normal behavior. This is not a tantrum some child threw. This is a massive mental health issue that a spanking won’t correct in any way, and would likely only exacerbate the problem.

Who says everything is mental illness? Be strict early on and the child might just grow up decent.

Yeaaah, no. This damage was actually caused by a mentally ill 15 year old after he was off his meds. He needs correcting in the way of mental healthcare, not violence. Violence doesn't teach kids anything good, and especially not highly volatile mentally ill ones.
