It’s not that weird to refer to someone who’s acting immature as a “12 year old”.

With a correct/complete context, it's not. But on a clip as serious as this one, anyone would rarely assume "12 year old" was figurative and not literal.

Besides, if I recall correctly, the entire narrative was being corrected not just the semantics of it.
