You realize they could’ve been really hurt right? Is now really the time for a joke?

Dude had way too much room to exit. Looking from the point when they hit the car they weren't paying attention. Source I'm a truck driver so many idiots on the phone and so many don't even slow down when they see a cop doing a traffic stop or even try to give them space. Not even when there is a broken down car and flashing their four ways. Edited* I don't know where they gotta be that's so important to endanger others and not care

In this case, would the driver still be issued the original citation?

Choosing not to arrest him saved his life because he would of been on the other side of that vehicle

Fuck.... poor guy. Could have been worse but looks like he ate the ground pretty hard. I hope he's okay

Thankfully, he is now offering this advice to passing drivers
"When you see us, please slow down," he said.
I'm pretty sure they didn't see him. Probably because they were texting.
The officer is lucky he was at the passenger side, not the driver side.

Theres another video floating around that looks nearly identical to this setup. Thankfully, this wasn’t that.

Russia? The country that has a death rate of 10.6/100,000 compared to the US at 14.2/100,000?
Yes, I've seen that.
14.2/100,000 are killed in America, almost 3x as much as are killed in places like Italy or France, who aren't the best drivers, and it's even worse than Pakistan, India and Mexico.
I'd suggest that out of 1st world countries, the US is the worst in the world for road deaths per capita.

If you're not up for a discussion I don't think the internet is the place for you.
Have a good day, and don't crash your car.

Or as drivers we are supposed to slow down when cops performing their duties (or vehicles with flashing lights)... or maybe even pay attention to the road to not slam into vehicles on the shoulder. Don't blame the victims in this when the driver of that SUV is 100% wrong here. Move Over Law https://share.google/mPMCNHB2sR0dyBaEF

Where do you expect him to pullover? To drive 5km to the next parking lot?

u/BrickFun3443 3d ago
Do you see where the car was sitting after it got hit? There. If I ever have to pull off the road, I pull over as far as I possibly can.

Blaming the victim is a weird, instead of blaming the driver that drove directly into a parked car, that had flashing emergency lights behinds it.

What kind of Mickey Mouse logic is that when ALMOST all states have a law to move over (away from the shoulder) and slow down! This argument hasn’t nothing to do with the price of beans in Mexico! Shut up and don’t drive…..please!

How about litteraly 1km further since its LITTERALY THE BEGINGING OF AN EXIT RAMP.
(You can the the dots on the right side beginning.)
This was legit one of the WORST PLACE to stop.
The problem is that cops LOSE THEIR SHIT if you dont pull over the moment they light up.

u/angie456 3d ago
Blaming the parked SUV in the SHOULDER and not the SUV that refused to slow down and was also failing to stay in their own lane is nuts. Since when driving through the shoulder to get to your exit normal but being pulled over in the shoulder isn’t?

This was legit one of the WORST PLACE to stop.
Perhaps. Let's say I grant you that argument.
Sometimes disabled vehicles don't get a choice where their momentum ends, does that mean that oncoming traffic shouldn't be prepared to deal with that situation?
There's no way to safely pass 2 cars that are on the shoulder near an exit ramp, an accident was inevitable in this situation. Is this what you're arguing?
That's kind of the impression I'm getting.
My argument is that a driver on the freeway should be prepared to safely pass any obstacle that remains on the shoulder of the freeway until they pass.
In this situation, no cars or pedestrians were in the right of way during this accident. Therefore the moving car should have been able to navigate the 'obstruction' safely. Therefore, it was the moving car's fault.
Agree or disagree?

The driver sucks, don't get me wrong. But maybe parking right on the offramp was a bad idea.

right on ! so a minor driving infraction ... likely speeding that cop got that person killed

u/OwMyUvula 2d ago
Fuck both the black and the white cars that got smashed.
White car could have pulled further over....or better yet, just driven an extra .25 miles and exited.

Goddamn, I hate phone drivers. “I’ma go 90 and send a text at the same time.”
