Had so much fun seeing him playing in-person at Lord's for The H*ndred last night, he and Williamson were the main reason I went 🫣

Easily greatest opener of this era

Rohit outdid him imo... But still second best.

I'm talking about all formats

Rohit is surely better than him in odis but in tests warner is miles ahead , t20is pretty close but warner got better avg ,sr and a t20wc pott , ipl it's not even a debate warner arguably greatest or 2nd greatest batsman in ipl

So overall warner clears

Mentioning ipl like it's a 4th format 💀

Because that would hurt Rohit's case the most.

I feel like he isn't given enough flowers for being one of the greatest openers oat

a not great test run in recent years wrote off his entire career in some peoples minds

Sandpapergate and the hallway fight with De Kock made me basically stop following him and his game, I just tuned out. Same with Smith. It irked me to give them any attention, the same way Amir and Asif's bullshit did in 2010.

Started watching him again in his last year before retirement, and it's clear he's a good all-round bloke, seen him on podcasts and on the pitch. A solid mentor, level headed, funny, great game. I wonder if he was always like that.

For years I mainly just remembered him for being abrasive, a rude aggressor, no sportsmanship. Funny how that team under Lehmann just gave off the wrong vibe and coloured all the players poorly. Langer really had to do a 180.

I mean, he couldn't make contributions outside of Australia & South Africa has more to do with his last 5 years if cricket

Warner knew how to open alright.

Although he was a regular in a period where ODI cricket turned very batter-centric. He was so very consistent and reliable, especially at home

Davey ODI GOAT?!

Shows how dominant Warner was. Suprised to see no Gilly Hayden Combo but then realised that those guys didn't need 250+ partnership because McGrath Warne and Lee made sure to keep the opponent total for less than that

Was a much, much lower scoring time. 250 runs would be a pretty good total for the whole innings, let alone a single partnership.

Agree. I remember India winning the CB series with scores around this down under.

The Head/Marsh partnership today broke Gilchrist & Hayden's opening record for Australia, although it was 'only' 170.

As another replier said, 250 was a good score for a whole innings back in the early 2000s.

Fuck you David Warner

88

u/Dirtydac123 Australia 1d ago

I think you dropped him in every single innings he has dominated you. In all formats

u/MRO465 1d ago

Pakistan for Warner is what India is for Head.

David be like "fuck this team in particular"

I mean, those top 5 are all against different teams.

Kinda makes sense given how Indian Davey is

Good ol days of watching davey play

u/bendalazzi 23h ago

This D. Warner seems decent. Should give him a run in the test side to see how he goes.

David Warner was one of those most complete all format batsman like Sehwag, Gayle and Kohli who could make shit tons of runs in all while maintaining 45-50 average.
