By Overall list you mean global list? Let me guess it's led by Shahid Afridi 😛

I couldn't watch the match. Did Connolly actually bowl good or was it just scoreboard pressure due to the massive chase?

Bit of both. Fair few wickets caught on the rope but got his length right to cause miss hits. The ball for the stumping was really nice

Connolly actually bowled well.

The rest of the spinners in this match took 3 for 230 at an economy of 7.1.

So taking 5 for 22 at an economy of 3.6 was a heck of an effort.

He burgled a bunch of wickets with RSA batting haphazardly chasing an impossible total. This is not much to read into - the bloke can’t even spin it

>Allrounder who looks out of place in international cricket

>grabs attention bowling spin with the white ball.

Good performance and all that .

But I hate his hair style.

It's a shocker of a haircut.

He has done a feat which the likes of Clarrie Grimmett, Hugh Trumble, Gary Gilmour, Bert Ironmonger, Jeff Thomson, Dennis Lillee, Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris, Peter Siddle, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Adam Zampa haven't achieved to be in this elite list of youngest Australians with fifers in ODI cricket.

Moral victory unlocked and this achievement is for those who doubted this prodigy.

Since you are supporting SL, where do you rate him compared to Wellalage. I think Wellalage is far better..

I would put Wellalage over him for now since he has given some match winning performances both with bat and ball in more than 1 occasion. Wellalage still has to earn his spot and show his skills and he still hasn't guaranteed that spot in the permanent lineup yet. Connolly after being inconsistent now got his reward with this spell. Hope this is just the start for him. I have seen Wellalage from 2022 U19 World Cup where he ended up with absolute peak all round show with a century and 17 wickets as the leading wicket taker in that tournament.

I just remember Connolly being that breakout star in one of the BBL finals he played a match winning quickfire cameo that cemented a prodigy status for him that elevated his status a bit.

Even crazier is Connolly now has the best ODI figures for an Aussie spinner.

The greatest odi playing nation in the world that never quite had a good white ball spinner ( i know warnie was there but warnie with red ball is much better than with the white ball ) .

I know it's very harsh but the main question remains. But is he the ugliest australian cricketer?

7

u/latit14 New Zealand 7h ago

That's the kind of thing someone with a very ugly personality would say.

-1

u/dr_alchemist 7h ago

Yep. Not just an ugly personality, I have a ugly mug too.

1

u/Ok_Flight5978 India 12h ago

You must be blind to consider him ugly.
