Opinion Which England scorecard is the best?
This is probably not an exhaustive list, but it's all the ones I've been able to find since 2000.

To me, Sky’s 2014 onwards is the best, and rightly it’s just been tinkering around the edges since then. To me the 2023 Ashes were a small step back, but thankfully it was reverted.
But Sky really are the world leaders in making the graphics be comprehensive but compact, and avoiding gaudy colours or unnecessary detailing.

I absolutely love that the Channel 4 one is when Simon Jones is about to rip out Michael Clarke at Old Trafford.

I like the ticker where Pat Cummins is about to hit the winning runs. I’ve no idea about the scorecard, though.

Yeah those 2007-2012 days, nostalgia hitting me with that scorecard, I was 12-17 years old during that period

The one they used in WC 2019. Hands down the best and cleanest scorecard I've ever seen, from England or any other country

I would like to see a permanent field map somewhere in the corner with scorecard

Either the Channel 4 or 5 one, because then it would mean it's on free TV.

Yeah I’m super nostalgic about the Channel 5 ones. Great memories of watching the Test match highlights after school with my dad

I’m incredibly nostalgic for Sky 2009 because it coincided with a very successful period for England in Tests

On the last day of the Anderson Tendulkar trophy Star Sports was not bothering to show how many runs ENG is required. Basterds were only showing how many wickets India needs for the entire hour.
How biased, unprofessional and only catering to specific audiences you have to be.
Star sports will never reach the heights of Old Star Sports or ESPN. And it cannot even dream to be like SKY (however British bias some presenter has I'll prefer it for inclusivity and good broadcast overall).
Even sony is way better than Star.

It never makes any sense to show the number of wickets a team needs since you can work it out straight away by just looking at the score. The only exception would be if you know one of the batting team won’t be coming out so you only need to take 9 wickets to end the innings.

5th from the top will always be my favourite. Instantly takes me back to Amla’s epic triple century

I prefer the old scorecards that were in the top left or right-handed corners prior to 2002 when Sky Sports debuted them.

There’s something so clean about sky 2014. Also that New Zealand tour was so iconic. Where the new, aggressive England under Morgan emerged

Sky '23. Matching the colours to the team should make a comeback that was juicy.

The 2005 one is special to me because of that Ashraful century and our historic win over Australia.

I hate the early Sky ones, where they never have all the info at the same time and would only flash up what you actually wanted to know briefly

Purely on nostalgic grounds as a kid it’s got to be the Sky early 2000s one.

For nostalgia 2005 on channel 4 which was glorious. The most recent sky one is fantastic though.
Also fond memories of the cool text sky sports one from early 2000s.

I like the Sky 2023 Ashes or the Channel 5 2019 because it seems like we're pretty close to winning those matches.
But also the Sky 2023 is my favourite because it has all the required info (including a section for notes like 'Need 3 more to win') while also using clear colour coding to demarcate sections based on which team they refer to.

hate to break it to you but the 2019 one is from headingley!

I'm sorry I don't remember any bad experiences at Headingley. I don't think we've ever even played a test there.

Sky 2014 onwards for me too. All the information you need. I do love Sky changing the colour based on opposition, too

Can I make a claim for another Sky one from around 2000 and say the one they had on the top right of the screen where the numbers would change as if they were on a real life scoreboard? It was definitely used in the Pakistan and Sri Lanka series of 2000/2001.

2023 ashes for sure. I like it when there’s a bit of colour representing the teams- rather than just the blue colour scheme for all teams.

4th one from top, sky 2009, newer ones are also good, much better than what we have in india

2009 screams nostalgia. They used to even change the scoreboard theme based on the team colors.

Channel 4 from 2005 will always be iconic, especially as it gave you an idea of where in the day the highlight was from.
In terms of what shows the most important information without looking too “messy”, Sky have pretty much nailed it in recent years
