6 years later… finally got a muscle up!
Haven’t been able to replicate it as smoothly since this, but still so happy

Couldn't think of anywhere better to post this, but after 18 months of crossfit and about 8 months of working on these, I finally got my first Ring Muscle Up!

I had a chance to attend WFP this weekend, I'm local to Arizona. Just wanted to share some of my thoughts and was curious what you guys thought if you were there.
I enjoyed the fact that you could engage with the athletes on a more personal level, lots of them did meet and greets, were walking around the venue, or taking pictures with fans after the events. I thought that was pretty neat and something I've never gotten a chance to do before.
Some of the community events were pretty good, lots of elite athletes dropping into East Valley gyms to teach, host events. Again, it was really cool to see some of the athletes up close and get pictures.
Onto the bad....
I'm genuinely curious as to how this is actually going to make money. Most of the local gyms were giving away free tickets, so I don't know anyone that actually paid for their tickets. The actual venue they were hosting WFP for Mesa is massive and from what I understand extremely expensive. Plus all the athletes were put up in hotels. I can't imagine they are making enough money to cover their expenses.
The vendor village was terrible, there was like four or five vendors, which made it quite boring in between events or when there's a big break in the middle of the day.
The actual venue inside was very small, couldn't hold more than maybe a couple thousand people, the web stream made it seem like it was very huge inside
Obvious equipment issues mentioned elsewhere.
Personally, I don't see the WFP being able to survive for another year, but that's just me.
Edited to add: I was really indifferent about WFP before I went this weekend. I did have a good time, I'm still indifferent about WFP. My comments were just that I don't know how they can survive doing this financially, that's it.
Edited again to remove comment about blue hair judge. The shuffling issue that two people were no repped about was reviewed and affirmed.

It’s important for me to write my thoughts in order to both retain and build on my perspective. In mid January I will be two years into this journey of fitness, which is a much, much different journey than weight loss alone…I have to keep that at the forefront.
While losing the weight was paramount in order to save my life, fitness I’d say is even more important in regard to both prolonging it, and allowing me the fluidity to be active and able.
Here we go…
This is my second consecutive year of capturing my thoughts. I’m so thankful for the people we’ve met along the way, and for the coaches who have invested in our growth!

In 2021, at 40, I made the decision to get my life back. I had battled food addiction the majority of my life and was swiftly headed toward death at nearly 600lbs. I opted to have surgery as an extreme measure, but committed on the backend to relearn my relationship with food.
In the months to follow I focused on diet, and about 15 months later I had went from 530# on the operating table to 265#. That’s when I discovered CrossFit and what has been the ultimate catalyst in my recovery, mobility and overall health.
After a year of CrossFit I committed to doing an “annual” review of the lessons I’d learned. If ya’ll like it, I’ll post year 2.
To the people new to this who are retaking over their life, it’s all possible.

Hi guys. I have nearly 16-17% body fat. If I move on lower body fat, like 12-13%, what are the benefits of this besides aesthetic looking?

I did a workout with rope climbs and struggled with my clamp throughout. This led to a lot of pulling and ultimately severe biceps soreness. The following few days pull-ups were really hard on it to where I was scaling to dead hangs. So I’ve been taking it easy. Yesterday I did some max effort rows and now my right bicep hurts in flexion and extension. Pain is located near elbow.
Anyone ever experience anything like this? Tips on what to do next?
Thanks

Hi! I’ve been trying to get into working out as an on and off beginner. I’ve never really enjoyed the usual gyms as I get bored with repetitive workouts easily. As someone who grew up playing sports and enjoying it when there’s a goal in mind in a team atmosphere, I’ve always struggled with self motivation and getting to the gym in a solo aspect. I’ve been looking into CrossFit. For context I’m quite active at my job and do quite alot of running around and heavy lifting and enjoy it if there’s a task at hand. Would CrossFit be a good fit?
Thanks!

Has anyone competed in the Fraser Valley Throwdown Series in Richmond? I’m a female new to CrossFit and would do the scaled individual division at the upcoming September event.
My questions: - is this a good competition for someone’s first time competing? (I’m literally brand new to the sport, only 3 months in) - is competing individually a bad idea? I would do the trio option but since I’m new to the sport I haven’t created connections to find 2 girls to do it with - what is the spectator situation like? I feel like I might be shy if there’s alot of people watching…
Regardless I feel like I’ll go for it but wanted to get some more insight.
Thanks everyone!

Not looking to drive more than an hour or two

Not a ton of progress this week. I'm struggling at this 90 degree bend and just trying to focus on that, getting my movement in, and not being completely exhausted and worn out of this dang journey. I work in academia so it's picking up speed, I don't have time to be this worn out! That being said, today I did 18,450 steps, and managed some "nearly crossfit worthy" single leg snatches, back to working with a barbell for straight leg deadlifts, strict presses. I've increased the height for my single leg dumbbell now step ups. Still can't go too high as I need to be cautious of how I step down.
Have physio on Friday and I am SUPER hopeful he will clear me for slow and steady spin.. weather is changing fast here in Ireland and I could use some indoor cardio as my crutches aren't great in the rain.
I'm starting to bring in more pilates now to focus on core strength and general strength, but I've really lost a shocking amount of strength through this all. When you're used to training dynamic, functional fitness style, it's amazing how much harder strict moves can be. And I know it'll come back, but it's annoying!
Picture of my little shrunken leg for fun. 3 more weeks in the brace! Getting there!

Sorry if this is OT!
I have been doing crossfit for years and last year I started dialing in my nutrition and training. I feel great and look great but obviously my body shape changed. I have broad shoulders and chest with not much cleavage, smaller waist and thicc thighs and hips.
What do yall wear for special occasions? i am having a hard time finding something that suits my body type and muscles 🫠🫠🫠

I did CrossFit a long time ago (like 2010) then stopped, and got back into it in January of 2025. Since then I’ve lost 25lbs (230 to 205) and maintained this weight while my PRs have increased.
This weekend I was given a pass to the World Fitness Project Event 2 in Mesa AZ and HOLY COW. Obviously they’re professionals, or close to pro, but it has me thinking. How do you bridge the gap from competing in class to becoming THAT kind of caliber?
There’s monsters at my gym that of course I look up to, and I’m pushing myself to close the gap between myself and them, but these pros… holy smokes..
Aiming to complete workouts with the RX is my first goal. Then pushing past it with eyes on the Competitor track versions.. right now I think my stamina/gas tank is my issue. I’m doing my best to keep moving but it’s hard sometimes when you get glued to the floor.. lol
Anyone have any tips, or suggestions, to rising towards the top?

How do you all keep track of rounds? I’ve seen people use a dry erase marker to make tally marks and then wipe them away, and I’ve seen using the marker to make lines. What works best for you?

Hey fellow CrossFit friends. There’s weirdly very little information on this that I can find, so wanna give it a shot in here. Looking for a quality brand of underwear - boxer shorts (not boxer briefs!) - that fit my build. I’m thin but my legs and butt are muscular which makes finding underwear that fits kinda tricky. Are there athletic fit boxer shorts out there? Size small are usually too small in the legs and butt, and medium are too big in the waist. I’m about 5’10” 160 lbs. TIA!

Terrible luck for Hatfield as his GHD breaks in WFP Men's Pro3 event.
Anyone know what'll happen to his score?
Could hear the production team in the background saying 'stay away from Austin Hatfield'...

Watching the World Fitness Project tour and I’ve noticed after an event win, during the post-event interview, a lot of athletes have their AIRWAAV mouthpiece hanging off their ear. And not just randomly, they always seem to put it on the side facing the camera.
Is this a deliberate sponsorship thing, or is this the new having-your-knee-sleeves-on-your-shins-when-not-in-use thing?

What is the best programing for 55+ competive athlete?
Volume, movement standards and lederboard by age groups are important.

How do you use the white board? Any tips to share? I love to see how other people use them.
Here is one of my back squat boards. 1RM was 195. The 10, 8, 6, 4 is number of reps. The next number is the % of 1RM, and then the total amount that should be on the bar according to the percentage. Finally, because I am horrible at math, I pre-plan what plates I need to put on each side. E.g.: If I need 145 on the bar, I start by subtracting the weight of the bar, the I divide the remaining number by 2. Then start planning plates to get to the number. 145-35=110; 110/2 =55. So just get enough plates to get to 55 (either 45+10 or 35+15+5).

Hi guys. I am new to crossfit. Can I do crossfit with only bodyweight exercises and one kettlebell?
