BTC Dominance has firmly broken and closed below the ascending wedge on its weekly timeframe, now siting right on its 100 week moving average. expecting a bounce from that level shortly then we will get the final capitulation for alt season starting hopefully in october time, can see the bounce lasting most of september even into early october.

Marketmakers simply doing what they do obliterating longs and covering shorts. Shaking out the new, and the fearful. While giving opportunity to big money, and the original faithful! The patient and the faithful are rewarded. Some of us remember 67% drawdowns, and either holding, or doubling down. This is just a normal Sunday!

1

u/jwheel888 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 11h ago

They definitely dont want us in the game. Too bad, im not fear selling

1

u/JerkyJunkie 0 / 0 🦠 11h ago

They never have wanted us to be, only to be the ones who either continue to keep the game going, or the few of us they allow to collect breadcrumbs so that the illusion doesn’t fall apart… If we stick hard enough to the original plan, don’t play into the game for once, don’t not just sell our stacks, but ourselves/freedom along with it. This will be the first opportunity since coming off the gold standard to at least slightly even the playing field. If not all of the faith, and patience that has been put in not just monetarily, but through educating the others around us as to the opportunity will have been nothing but likely the last opportunity…

Everyone talking about Strategy recent buys underwater and the whole debt service issue thing...

Wouldn't it be genius for Strategy to quietly sell calls on BTC like say, 15% out of the money? The premiums could easily cover the debt/pref service (at least the current pay portion), AND if BTC actually went on a big run up, Saylor could sell Bitcoin to keep the price below strike until expiration.

Makes sense to me but I'm an idiot so probably doesn't work.

Why would altcoins ever do their own thing. They are only play ideas totally connected and subordinate to bitcoin and it has always been that way.

Also the bitcoin dominance is still very high at 57.5% which is 4 times bigger than the biggest altcoin

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I honestly think that these new highs Bitcoin had been making recently was just pricing in all the dollar devaluation. If you look at the EUR chart you can clearly see we haven’t moved from December/January highs… it’s sad, but it is what it is. Might really be in a double top scenario here, just like 2021. Hope not, but it’s getting closer to that day by day now.

β€’

u/Baumpaladin 🟩 0 / 51 🦠 38m ago

I pointed this out a handful of times. Looking at BTC/USD/EUR as a triangle will show you that in reality USD has been shitting itself over the past months.

USD/EUR went from around 1.02 at the start of the year to around 1.17 as of now. If you are a European and bought at the highs in December or January, you'd still be down like 15% after USD pairs reach their old highs.

β€’

u/dirodvstw 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 35m ago

People that bought in January with USD are in profit while people that bought in EUR are still at a loss

u/Beginning_Ad2169 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 5h ago

Honestly people that say buy and hold for a long time, only worked like half decade ago when prices were low or last bear market, when u buy in a bull run, it’s mental torture cuz gains can disappear all within a few hours

3

u/Simke11 🟦 0 / 5K 🦠 5h ago

It worked pretty well if you bought in '22, '23 and even parts of '24. That's certainly not half a decade ago.

1

u/MarioWilson122 🟧 0 / 0 🦠 4h ago

Yeah this year it made more sense to just swing trade trying to hold is painful. Unless you are capable on looking at your portfolio every few weeks or months like i hear some do.

1

u/kironet996 🟩 49 / 50 🦐 4h ago

yeah, I sold my BTC and ETH already and switched to trading, now I don't give a crap which way it goes, I can always make money(following proper risk & money management ofc).

0

u/Illustrious-Boss9356 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 4h ago

It also depends what your expectations are. A 15% gain over an entire year is an AMAZING return. Yet people here expect that shit weekly.

Cmon now. If you believe in the coin/token/nft then buy and hold it. Dollars are not becoming more valuable over a long term horizon. Be patient and stop whining.

5

u/nagai 🟩 0 / 283 🦠 4h ago

Risk adjusted returns? 15% over a year is terrible if you're exposed to the risk associated with your average shit coin.

Crypto in this market cycle is all about how to best liquidate the longs and the shorts.

5

u/solidstatepr8 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 4h ago

I've been wondering how much of an "alt season" there will really be with 30,000 new shitcoins per day flooding out of bucket shops like Solana these days. The whole market is diluted with this junk.

At least with the ICO era they had to come up with something at at least looked like a real business on paper to get people to invest. There were far, far fewer coins drawing attention. Now anyone with a nickle and zero knowledge can fire up some crypto garbage to feed the casino.

I dont really have a point but I've been thinking about it this last week or so. That said Ive been carrying Curve ecosystem baggage for years that I wouldn't mind seeing actually do something finally.

7

u/Imaginary-Seaweed-29 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 4h ago

feels like everyone who is trying to make this point is forgetting how much money was spread out between all sorts of shitty NFTs, crypto games, metaverses etc in 2021

the latter is less relevant now, this time there were probably more shitcoins with pump fun, next cycle it could be something else entirely

2

u/solidstatepr8 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 4h ago

Sure, as always no one knows the future. Ive no doubt the next NFT or Pumpfun hype will manifest somewhere as it always does.

2

u/Imaginary-Seaweed-29 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 4h ago

but yeah i guess the point was that the spreading out of money on shit isnt anything new and that it doesnt mean it would make an alt season weaker

1

u/solidstatepr8 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 3h ago

Genrally I'd agree, I guess my point was more that there has been an exponential increase in this stuff this time around without a similar surge in retailers to come buy it. 10s of thousands of crappy coins to gamble on means they're not coming to the "blue chips" probably, more established alts could be more suppressed than expected for a disappointing "season". Like say I don't have a big thesis or anything, just some idle thoughts.

2

u/evm1989 🟩 285 / 285 🦞 2h ago

I share your opinion about 'alt season' (i'm in crypto since 2016 btw). I had this thought already before this bull run and that's why I bought lots of ETH this time instead of more spread out in some alt coins.

I'm happy for all the alt coin holders if there is gonna be a alt season, but I just don't see it this time, because of your arguments. Most people are still down on their alt coins, who is gonna buy them?

ETH -3.7% +6.7% +22.6% +85.8% +74.9% +139.8%

BTC is not just down today, it's down on the week and the month.

ETH has not just performed better in dollar terms on every timescale since April, but in the last 4 months the value of ETH/BTC has more than doubled.

If the people you are listening to are only recently talking about how well ETH is doing then they aren't worth your time. The most important factor influencing how well you do in crypto is avoiding getting manipulated and 'psyoped' into making bad choices.

The 'seasons' changed months ago, if you didn't notice then I'd suggest you spend some time genuinely looking into your chosen sources of 'information' to figure out why.

Wake me up when ETH does a x2 from its previous ATH and Algorand hits 3 usd again, then I'll say ''Ok, we're in a bull run''. Meanwhile we're in a bull s..t.

Today dump is manipulation by exchanges. They liquidated longs for no reason so as those doing inside trading of shorting BTC and Ethereum can benefit.

How does a die-hard og bitcoin whale from 2011 who went through all the ups and downs of every cycle and already has enough money to be set for life as a billionaire suddenly wake up decide to dump bitcoin and pay taxes to go into high risk altcoin bets

2

u/piggleii 🟩 7K / 7K 🦭 3h ago

How do you know he's paying taxes?

Ugh billionaires being greedy is so weird. If I had that kind of money I'd be so happy just to live a relaxed life off of what i had and turn the computer off and never look at another chart again.

We don't know if the whale needs to pay taxes. Could be living in a tax haven.

Idk if I could sit on a billion & not cash out to enjoy my life.

After that, why not gamble a little on alts. Alt season is due after all.

Volatility is the theme for September. Tradfi and crypto will both experience it. Ready to ride the rollercoaster to Valhalla. (Or the local Wendy’s)

So because some poopyhead sold his BTC -- and because a zillion bots sell off other assets when BTC moves down -- $70 bn got wiped off of crypto market cap in a few minutes.
