General DCAU Regarding viewing-order posts

Hey everyone!

It's my understanding that one of the most frequently asked questions in the sub revolves around looking for a decent viewing order to experience the DCAU shows in, and every now and then for the likes of DCAMU movies and such. In an attempt to de-clutter the feed from having consistently similar posts, I've begun working on the subreddit's wiki to provide multiple different styles of viewing orders!

Available now are:

Hoping to add more potential orders in the coming weeks (off the top of my head, release order ones for both universes mentioned above will probably be simple enough), but I'm also definitely doing this while sidelining other responsibilities, so if it takes a while to get to please be patient!

Hopefully, this will be a helpful project for the community at large!

Asking for Help Reminder: MARK YOUR SPOILERS Spoiler

Been A LOT of spoilers discussion with the releases of Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3 and Batman: Caped Crusader.

Marking spoilers is rule #3 on this board. It's just good manners.

Non-DCAU Today would have been Jack Kirby's 108th birthday. Here's a piece he drew in '77, inked by Bruce Timm in 1999 for a Jack Kirby Collector magazine cover.

A snippet from Timm's interview with the magazine from 6 issues prior can be found online here. In it, Bruce discusses Jack's influence on him personally and the DCAU.

JLU Wait, so the JL has civilian staff?

So I was rewatching JLU and I noticed that there are a couple of staff who wear purple outfits, who are clearly staff. So like, the JL has civillian staff?? I mean, that seems like a really large security hole, imagine if one of them were held hostage, I mean, they are letting JL information run loose in the tower, it seems like that'd be a really easy way for the bad guys to get info on them. I'd imagine the only people allowed inside the tower would be superheroes

Edit: It would also Hoyt a huge target on any of the civilians and their families as they would probably be who the bad guys would go for, since they don’t have secret identities. I would imagine that the pay would be good, but still, I doubt the league would want to involve civilians in their business unless they are cops or government officials, who would be involved either way.

Edit 2: I just saw Task Force X and it just proves my point. It's a giant oversight on the league's part, and I highly doubt someone like Batman wouldn't have thought this through

General DCAU A character who you wish appeared in more DCAU shows

Is there a character who- while they might have appeared in one or two shows in the DCAU- had potential to fit in will on others where they weren't used? after reading a Batman Beyond tie-in comic that featured Etrigan, I wished that he'd appeared in the show- I really do enjoy his DCAU appearances a lot generally (not that there are that many)

DCUAOM If the multiverse is structured with an infinite amount of choices-outcomes in JL: COTW, wouldn't there be another Owlman that actually did succeed in destroying the multiverse?

BTAS Reading Gotham Adventures, and I just loved this scene

I always saw the iconic final page of this particular issue on the internet (Riddler's realization that he actually needs help) and decided to give it a read today, and one of the highlights for me was Gordon flabbergasted by seeing Batman solving a complex riddle on the spot, it was such a nice moment.

I don't think I've read a lot of comics written by Templeton, but I'm aware of his work as an artist, and this was a nice surprise.

JL Thoughts on The Terror Beyond Part I and Part II?

Just to start off... This was pure PEAK

Holy, this story beca me one of my favorites of the season alongside "A Better World"

Honestly, I don't even know where to begin, but I'll start by saying that I loved seeing Aquaman back. He's one of my favorite DC characters in general, and any story with him will always be a joy. The approach to this one, with the return of Dr. Fate and Solomon Grundy, couldn't have been better.

Solomon Grundy was undoubtedly one of the best aspects of this episode, as it's certainly nice to have been given a backstory and a more complex character than just a strong monster. Throughout the episode, Grundy was extremely helpful and an incredible protagonist, with genuine interest in his soul search, his short-lived friendship with Hawkgirl, and the episode's emotional ending. More than just a Justice League story, it was a Solomon Grundy story.

Speaking of Hawkgirl, her participation in this story was also very notable, both for her effectiveness in combat against the beings from the other dimension and for the Thanagarians' history with Icthultu, as well as the lore given to Atlantis regarding this same entity. Icthultu proved to be an intimidating villain and a huge potential threat if not for the right people to stop him.

By the way, I felt the art in this story was much more detailed than in other episodes, and it really served to highlight the cosmic horror aesthetic of the episode. The entire other dimension was a visual delight and even eerie. I wouldn't be surprised if, had I seen this episode when I was younger, it would have scared me.

Grundy's search for identity was a good theme to explore here, as was the small message about faith in things that occurs with both Diana, Grundy, and as Aquaman himself explains at the end.

It's incredible how emotional the story was at its climax, and with Grundy's ending, I didn't expect to feel this way about a character who hasn't had multiple appearances in the series, and yet I'm still thrilled. What an incredible story! It's currently in my top three of the entire series.

General DCAU How would Maureen Connor/Permafrost turn out if she got adopted by Killer Frost?

Let's say Killer Frost decides to turn over a new leaf after JLU (unlikely as that is), and ends up adopting Maureen. Would it work out (since Frost has similar abilities as Maureen, so she can help the teen adjust to her powers), or would it be a terrible idea due to Frost's past and personality?

I watched this story last night and wow, I loved it. As usual with this series.

I must mention that the introduction certainly creates tension and intrigue due to how the story might be directed, and the fact that it begins from the perspective of the other dimension was a success. I must mention that I found the character designs original and definitely visually interesting.

The story is driven by a familiar setting, where Superman decided to cross the line into killing and take the world into his own hands. But once again, this story is better realized than any other example of the same story, such as Injustice. Despite all this, this Superman feels more like a character outside of his obsession with control and his emotional coldness.

Details like John Stewart creating more aggressive constructs, Diana no longer using her lasso, or the symbol on J'onn's chest show the changes in these characters in a subtle but effective way. Batman is undoubtedly the most nuanced because, despite finding peace in this new world, his morality ultimately prevents him from following a regime of control where freedom exists, even the freedom to do wrong, because the will of the people is the will of the people, and this League has placed itself above the will of the people.

Flash being the trigger, as well as Batman's moral weakness, is a good thing about seeing the character, since it allows us to explore more his interaction with the League and how his good spirits influence others, one of the best things about his character. Things like Batman's password and Lois's appearance are details that undoubtedly show the love for the series. I would say the weakest part of the story was the appearance of Doomsday, which, along with his defeat, felt somewhat anticlimactic considering how important the character is in general. But I would say the outcome with the Justice League against the Justice Lords, as well as Luthor's collaboration at the end of the episode. A good and interesting story, without a doubt.

JLU I love how 'Flash and Substance' portrays Wally

I mean, they could have easily taken the route of having the goofy and lighthearted character use jokes and humor as a coping mechanism like most other comic relief characters, and honestly that would have been fine with me. But when Orion says that's what he's doing, he just says he's happy that no one got hurt. I also love how he's constantly slowing down to talk to civillians, addressing everyone by their names, asking about their health, their children etc. I mean, god knows how many people he knows and he managed to remember all of that. In the end of the day he's genuinely a really chill, down-to-earth and optimistic dude, and I really like that. I mean, no wonder his death caused the Justice Lords to snap, everyone loves Wally

I also really like how much Batman acts as a big brother to him in this episode

Non-DCAU I love The Batman vs. Dracula (2005), but in this scene, Bats should've looked like Darkwing when he was killed by Omni-Man. Dracula SLAMMED his skull into the pavement with all his might. Thank god he was in a kids movie.

JL What do you think happened to the Justice Lords after they were sent back to their Earth?

Considering they were de-powered (with the possibility of John simply recharging his ring), how would they go forward from that point based on your own headcanon?

Lord Batman seems to have gotten the gist after his League counterpart made him touch grass so I always imagine he'll right the group's wrongs in their universe and perhaps afford themselves some much-needed group therapy to address their grief over losing Flash.

Also, how would they deal with upcoming threats as they play out in real time as their world's parallel counterpart?

JL Star Sapphire as a Justice League member in DCAU

https://screenrant.com/green-lantern-villain-star-sapphire-official-justice-league-superhero/

Was surprised to learn that in recent DC comics, Star Sapphire has officially joined the Justice League. Given that how she’s often portrayed as her pre-retconned villainous version in the DCAU, I thought it would be refreshing to see her fighting alongside the Justice League as her present heroic comic book version in some future Justice League animated series/movie

Not necessarily their main villains in the DCAU (three of the heroes never even met their main villain) just the characters who are generally considered their arch nemesis and have appeared in the DCAU
