I don't care for wrestling at all, and I don't think I've seen a movie he's been in, but ever since I found out he holds the Guinness world record for most fulfilled Make-a-Wish appearances, I've been a fan.
Also, this is the third thing I've seen for him in the past day, so I'm suspicious that there's some media fuckery going on, but he seems like a decent person, so don't currently care too much
Could be media fuckery, could just be the natural resurgence of a topic. For one, Peacemaker season 2 just came out. Naturally Cena is doing press for that. He also had a cameo in Superman. And lastly, he seems to be, as you noted with his Make-a-Wish work, a really swell guy.
His cameo in Superman is probably the first time I've ever seen him do anything. I've not seen him in anything else. I'm not a wrestling fan. And yet I know who he is purely from the number of times over years and years that he's been brought up either for being a meme or a mensch.
I mean the fact that peacemaker just came out and the only reason I know about it is all the ads I've seen makes me think it's just part of the push for that
The Make-a-Wish appearance record makes me love supporting Cena. He is a busy actor after all, but still cuts out time in his schedule to visit sick children and spend quality time with them.
