DISCUSSION Which upcoming DCU project are you most excited to see?
•
u/Practical_Olive7340 10h ago
Lanterns, I'm so excited so See My Boy John Stewart.
•
u/djkhan23 2h ago
Have you seen Rebel Ridge?
After watching that movie I'm convinced there is no one better for the Stewart role than Aaron Pierre.
•
•
•
u/MisterNefarious 10h ago
Swamp thing and it isn’t even close
•
u/23_sided 10h ago
The last swamp thing was good, but no one watched it. I'm really hoping the next swamp thing is what kicks off justice league dark and all the weirdness of DC into DCU. Spectre, Mister E, all of it
•
u/MisterNefarious 10h ago
It was decent. Derek Mears crushed it. First two or three episodes were great, then I got pretty bored until anatomy lesson. Finale was pretty good iirc
•
u/ISwallowedALego 10h ago
Doesn't help it got canceled basically as soon as it was released, really deflating
•
u/23_sided 10h ago
Yeah, I watched every episode knowing it was already cancelled. I just kept thinking how much fun I would have if I thought it was going to continue the whole time
•
u/snootch2DaNooch 9h ago
John Constantine needs to be in the new DCU. A blonde British, comics accurate adaptation. NOT Keanu reeves.
•
u/23_sided 8h ago
Even if they don't get Matt Ryan for Constantine, I hope they watch the NBC show all the way through. That show was fantastic, and should have gone on for more than one season.
•
•
u/Alkakd0nfsg9g 7h ago
I was really bummed out when they cancelled it because of some budget mistake
•
u/Phineasfool 10h ago
I really liked that last one. Was so disappointed it was canceled after one season
•
•
u/leolegendario 2h ago
James Mangold is taking his sweet time writing this movie and Dawn of the Jedi, but his next movie will be a motorcycle heist movie with Timothée Chalamet.

Brave and the Bold. I'm so hyped and very excited to see not only the DCU version of Batman but also seeing Damian Wayne as Robin in live action form and on the big screen. As well as see the dynamic interactions between Bruce and Damian and seeing their relationship grow closer and closer as not only between A simple relationship between A Father and Son, but also seeing Bruce and Damian's relationship in both their public identities and their secret superhero identities as Batman and Robin. With Bruce telling Damian that killing criminals is wrong and that patience is A virtue and giving his son correct morals on life. And Damian Wayne is my favorite Robin, because I just love the dynamic interactions between Bruce and Damian as Batman and Robin. And I really can't wait to see Brave and the Bold on the Big screen whether it's released in 2028 or early 2029 at the very least.
•
u/WishboneMiserable693 9h ago
Damian gonna be so much fun, as well as a true Arkham Batman.
•
u/Maleficent_Spite_894 8h ago
Yes! I'd love to see the DCU version of Batman taking inspiration from the Arkhamverse Batman.
•
u/CamoLantern 38m ago
I just hope the suit looks good. I didn't like Corenswet's suit until I watched the movie and then the suit fit his goody two shoes ass so I will reserve judgment this time. However, I absolutely do not like Battinson's suit. I know he hasn't been Batman long, but I just hate it. Just a random metal bat symbol in the middle of all that padding.
The actor has to be a little intimidating at well. I am not a Snyder defender, did not enjoy Justice League at all, both versions. But I fucking loved Ben Affleck as Batman and his normal, grey suit in BvS fucked hard, not the metal one although it had its moments.
I just don't want another scrawny Batman wearing hockey pads like Bale and Battinson.
•
u/TylerBourbon 10h ago
Honestly, at this moment, Clayface. Gunn's statements is that each movie will have it's own tone and feel, separate from everything else. I want to see how a horror movie starring a DCU villain, written by a fantastic horror writer, pulls that off.
•
•
u/PlainSightMan 31m ago
Yeah this may be it for me too. Really interested in the DCU branching out into other genres.
•
•
u/agitatedandroid 10h ago
Supergirl, no question.
I don't know the actress playing the role at all. Milly? My exposure to her is entirely the cameo in Superman. But I've loved Supergirl for years. Helen Slater had a certain... awakening effect in my youth. And Melissa Benoist was charming as hell. I'm keen to see what Ms. Alcock does with the role.
•
u/fdbryant3 10h ago
She is in the first half of the first season of House of the Dragon if you want to see what has people excited about her.

u/AgainstMeAgainstYou 5h ago
Honestly it's the Superman high but if the next David Corenswet Superman film were to be released tomorrow I'd be there. I can't wait. I'm sure Superman will appear in other stuff between films, but David at the front and center is top priority for me.
Really stoked for Supergirl after the little taste we got, though.

Is that a Superman 2 logo? Despite Gunn loudly, consistently saying that isn't what's in the works?

Creature Commandos season 2.
EDIT: Seems like a pretty harmless thing to be downvoting.
•
u/BigBlubberyBirb 10h ago
I haven't seen anyone bring up the Dynamic Duo animated movie yet! The studio behind it looks really promising, and I'd love a stylized theatrical animated Batman film set in the DCU.
•
u/Beneficial-Ad-6107 9h ago
It would be jarring to some seeing puppet Dick and Jason also being in live action, but what do I know, Creature Commandos has me interested in how the cast will look in real life
•
•
u/FoxyMiira 10h ago
Lanterns, Supergirl, Superman 2, Brave and the Bold. Don't care about Swamp Thing or Clayface even if it's good, just like how I feel about Penguin.
•
u/Spire2000 11h ago
I have my doubts any of the bottom half of that image will see the light of day.
•
u/Bubbly_Good_7982 10h ago
Why lol
•
u/krazykieffer 10h ago
Well we likely will be in a recession come Supergirl which in this climate at best makes F4 money. Superman underperformed idc about domestic 600 million was getting laughed at in these threads. I think having HBO will help with quality but timing is everything. You are looking at the slate of 25-30. That's more than enough for WBs to think about stopping. I'd love to get Swamp Thing so I hope it works but maybe by then it's straight to streaming for $20.

u/Low_Zombie9914 8h ago
Lanterns and James Gunn's Superman Follow up are currently my top 2 hyped up projects, mostly from me having more to go off of, but also because of my passion for Green Lantern and Superman in general.
Cautiously optimistic for Supergirl and maybe Booster Gold.
I don't know what the hell's happening with Brave and the Bold, but I guess we'll find out soon enough what will happen to that one. 🤷

Not up there, but the Blue Beetle animated series they announced last year
My kid's favorite hero so I am excited to watch with them
•
u/Noobunaga86 7h ago
There won't be any Superman II. It won't be any big hit probably but I'm waiting for Booster Gold the most of this bunch.
•
•
u/meeseekstodie137 7h ago
lanterns (only because it's been so hyped up for so long, so it'd better be epic), clayface and weirdly bane and deathstroke, I'm intrigued by the fact that those two teaming up is not something I ever would have thought would happen, much less on the big screen, everything else is still too far away to really get hyped about and I'm expecting supergirl to basically be "female superman", so I'm not any more exited for it than I would be for any DC project coming in the near future
•
u/Slow_Strawberry_5203 7h ago
Superman 2
I’ll still watch some of these for sure. But I genuinely only care about Superman 2
•
u/Due-Fudge9863 7h ago
Ik they're not making any headway but The Authority is such a fresh unique concept that I really want.
•
•
u/Crow621621 7h ago
While I’m excited to see all of them, there’s a lot of discussion around Batman and I’m super curious on what Batman Brave and the Bold is going to be like.
•
•
u/Clover_end9642 6h ago
There’s an indescribable eerie positivity that hits me with anything Swamp Thing related.
•
•
u/Despacio1316 6h ago
Clayface because of the potential horror elements and knowing the script has to be absolutely fire to green light this character so early and so randomly.
•
•
u/omegaphallic 6h ago
Paradise Lost project is still a thing making progress.
Lanterns is the most interesting one.
•
•
u/19-Yellowjacket-96 6h ago
Supergirl and Lanterns.
Love Mily Alcock and I'm interested in how they do the Woman of Tomorrow storyline as it's literally the only comic I've read.
And lanterns. Didn't care for it before but after seeing Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardener I want more but I don't even know if he's in the show.

Only about 3 of these are definitely coming out.
And of those I would say lanterns.
I would say getting hyped up for movies which aren't even casted is a recipe for disappointment.
•
u/peeper_tom 4h ago
I will always have a irrational desire to see any Batman or spiderman movies over any other superheroes. So the brave and the bold for me.

I’d say Brave and the Bold except we haven’t really heard anything about it so super girl or lanterns for me
•
•
•
u/YaBoyEden 3h ago
Lanterns. I was a fan before the emotional spectrum was introduced and then got to be a teenager during the blackest night/brightest day arc, which I still think is one of the best arcs in comics
•
u/guardian20015 3h ago
I am gonna watch every DCU project. Any of these listed that end up happening and anything else they do.
That said, one of the ones I’m very hyped for is Lanterns. I really want to see the Green Lanterns done better in live action! Please, Warner Bros. stop being so afraid of them! I greatly enjoyed Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner and I am super excited to see Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart!! Hopefully, if the show succeeds well enough, we could even get more Lanterns down the line like Kyle Rayner or Jessica Cruz!
And I’m also particularly excited about the prospect of a Teen Titans movie. I hope we get a lineup like The New Teen Titans (Dick, Kori, Donna, Wally, Raven, Vic, and Gar) but I know there are a lot of different lineup options they could go with… Would be nice though!!!! And I would love to see what villain they would end up going with for the Titans to fight (movie 1 would surely be too early to bust out the stops for Trigon… right…?).
And I’m definitely excited for Brave and the Bold—not only because I want to see how they handle Batman and how they’re going to handle this father/son relationship between Bruce Wayne and Damian Wayne, but also because James Gunn said there’s planned to be other members of the Bat-Family who will appear in the film’s supporting cast!! And so will that mean we could get Dick Grayson?? Barbara Gordon?? Cassandra Cain?? There’s so many great characters in the Bat-Family, even newer ones like Duke Thomas. The potential is so vast!!

u/FewHeat1231 3h ago
Supergirl. I've always loved Kara and her cameo has me hyped.
•
u/musuperjr585 2h ago
He cameo was 2 mins of nothing.
Drunk girl picks up dog.
Superman randomly explains to the audience (his robo-slave) why shes drunk.
The audience is left wondering why she was off getting drunk instead of helping superman , save the world with the justice gang
•
u/Mickey_James 2h ago
That’s how teases work in cinema. Raise questions, leave audience curious for the answers.
•
u/musuperjr585 2h ago
If those teases break logic then it leaves the audience not wanting more but scratching their head at the decision making process.
This is not a critic of the movie or the character.
Im just saying that 'pre credits' scene did nothing but make me want to see less not more.
•
u/blunt_eastwood 50m ago
How did it break the logic? All we can tell is that she's a rebellious teen. Why would she have been there to help Superman?
She clearly doesn't even like him. That's like asking why Peacemaker or Lobo weren't helping him.
•
u/musuperjr585 44m ago
It's not clear she doesnt like Superman. If she did not like Superman why would she ask him to watch her dog?
Would you let someone watch your pet if you did not like them?
•
u/dmorley21 3h ago
I only look forward to ones that are actually filming. Of those, for me it’s Supergirl.
•
•
u/Dear_Suggestion_9895 2h ago
Brave and the Bold Sequel and more Etc
Superman Legacy all Sequel from it
•
u/leolegendario 2h ago
Anything Batman related always wins for me, but Damon Lindelof involviment in Lanterns puts the series in a close second place.
•
•
•
u/JayMyoutube 2h ago
Supergirl, the other is, The Authority, if Gunn directs than it's perfect or if he could get Snyder to direct and Gunn stays as writer and producer.
•
•
u/SkateNinja1997 2h ago
Swamp thing and clayface for sure. Didnt even know about bane and deathstroke, but that sounds cool too.

If these are all real, then all of them. The only DC project i was not excited about was Joker 2.
Most excited is Lanterns/Batman
•
u/Tigersonmotorcycles 44m ago
Clayface. It's supposed to be an r - rated horror film and I don't like to "Expect" anything from movies especially before a trailer release. But i sure do hope this movie leans more into an nightmare fuled body horror movie. I can see it being very gnarly because it is clay face after all and James Gunn i feel isn't afraid to take a risk.
•
u/BLEUGGGGGHHHHH 26m ago
Lanterns, brave and the bold and Wonder Woman. Lanterns because GL needs more rep, Batman because it’s Batman and wonder woman because she needs more rep.
•
u/Nah-RosaParks1955 14m ago
Lanterns, Clayface, and Supergirl are the only confirmed projects for next year. Out of those three, I'm not excited for any of them.

Truthfully. Alot of of these sound REALLY bad. Band and death stroke? That’s going to be horrible. Booster gold? wtf is booster gold? Ive been reading dc my whole life. I’ve never heard of booster gold. Ever. And the brave and the bold is really bad idea.

Supergirl, Brave and the Bold, Lanterns, Teen Titans, and then Clayface in that order I think.
•

Clayface. He’s always been one of my favorite Batman villains since I first saw the BTAS episode as a kid, so I can’t wait to see where the movie goes.

u/Legitimate_Rush_5017 10h ago
Clayface. It’s crazy how this is the only villain focused project we’ve gotten from DC since The Penguin and Joker 2019. Especially after how insanely successful the first Joker movie was.
•
u/KhalilSmack85 10h ago
Are these all real? I'm kinda excited about all of them. I haven't been exposed to much DC outside of the movies that came out in the last 30 years which have been of varying quality to put it kindly

I was disappointed with Superman but I'm interested in Lanterns because I read blackest night and brightest day run when I was a kid, I am cautiously optimistic to see how the GL corps is treated in DCU

If I remove all the basic options, I think Booster Gold, or anything animated, specially Blue Beetle, that guy was BUILT for some sakuga

For me I want to see Supergirl and the lanterns, Clayface is the interesting one since it will introduce DCU Gotham.
