I guess Brosnan only agreed for one movie, Because I felt that Sacrifice was very unnecessary. I get what they were going for. But why kill of DOCTOR FATE in his very first appearance in the big screen

Dr Fate was literally like, Okay I'ma die now

I do agree but Doctor Fate is also more than just Kent Nelson

But then again the helmet also went poof. So I don't how they'll bring Dr. Fate back

I just assumed the helmet vanished to go find a new host.

Hector Hall of Earth, you have the ability to submit to great FATE, welcome to the employment of the Lords of Order, we do not provide dental.

"There will now begin a six-month probationary period."

In the comics the amulet and helmet sorta just reappear at Fate's tower when shit goes down.

20

u/peon47 Oct 27 '22

That's how you do a solo Dr. Fate movie, then.

Starts with the next host just going about his day and finding the tower. The helm is like "bro, put me on, demons are coming!"

Brosnan can appear as a ghost or voice-over or a vision in his mind when he finally puts on the helmet.

Yeah for sure. The souls of previous wearers actually exist in a dimension inside the amulet. The current wearer can interact with them. Comics are weird lol.

Same as Avatars in Last Airbender.

Khalid Nassour is being subbed for Amon.

I don't know the comics but does whoever puts on the helmet become Dr Fate?

101

u/Kyunseo Oct 21 '22

Yes.

The current Dr. Fate in the comics is Kent Nelson's grand nephew, Khalid Nassour.

Im guessing thats who the helmet vanished to

14

u/PandasOnGiraffes Oct 22 '22

Yes!! I really hope they do a standalone Dr. Fate movie with him. Saleh Bakri would be such a good casting for the role.

I’m just gonna pretend Nabu was letting Carter hold him as one last fuck you to Sabbac for dusting Kent. Like, you kill my dude, fuck around and find out. Doesn’t fit Nabu at all but it’s all I got lmao

1

u/MrZeral Nov 17 '22

Don't you need to be chosen?

4

u/edd6pi Oct 31 '22

Yes. Doctor Fate is really a being called Nabu, the human wearing the helmet is just a host for his powers. Nelson was practically a slave to him.

In Young Justice, the current Doctor Fate is a team of sorcerers who share the burden by trading the helmet between each other every few weeks.

There were other characters that took the Doctor Fate mantle. I bet they were just setting up for that. Although I dont know if they're gonna make him related to Kent like in the comics.

Dr. Fate was easily the most likeable out of the bunch. I seriously dont understand how he is just letting the villain pierce his body at the end like he is waiting to be killed when there are million ways for him to avoid that death with his power. And his sacrifice really isnt that impactful when we have never truly seen his bonding with Hawk-man besides their few minutes of conversation.

13

u/KiraSandwich Oct 22 '22

I think that’s why they didn’t explain that Hawkman literally can reincarnate.

12

u/MeMeTiger_ Oct 22 '22

They seemed to have intentionally strayed off of that, it's so weird. There were like 5 occurrences where they could've mentioned it, but I guess not.

8

u/scouseconstantine Oct 23 '22

I thought when Fate told him he was going to die Carter was going to be like ‘ah another Tuesday, that’s cool’

Why sacrifice yourself for the guy who can literally reincarnate

9

u/MeMeTiger_ Oct 23 '22

He said something about not being afraid to die, so I thought to myself that they were gonna finally mention his resurrection powers, but nope.

3

u/MrZeral Nov 17 '22

Also when someone asked how he knows about Black Adam not being a hero, he said they have ancient scrolls or sth. I was sure he was gonna say because he saw what happened then himself.

2

u/MeMeTiger_ Nov 17 '22

Oh yeah, even their origins intervene.

17

u/ShastaMcNasty22 Oct 21 '22

It’s sucks he is gone but it’s like the one future that keeps his friend alive and buys time for black Adam to get there. Like strange seeing the futures.

21

u/BakedWizerd Oct 21 '22

Because they wrote it like that. They could have written it differently.

The point is that they needed to kill of Brosnan’s character so they wrote it like that, when it didn’t seem necessary.

11

u/easythrees Oct 22 '22

He probably only agreed to one movie. Realistically though no one really dies in a comic book movie.

2

u/electric_paganini Nov 18 '22

And if they do, there is always the multiverse.

2

u/TheFugitive223 Oct 22 '22

The helmet faded away after he died, does that mean no one will be doctor fate again?

4

u/MeMeTiger_ Oct 22 '22

I'm fine with it because there are multiple Doctor Fates, as long as only Kent is dead then I'm good.

3

u/always_tired_all_day Oct 30 '22

He was also the best part of the movie and did not get enough screen time

2

u/Alonest99 Oct 30 '22

Especially weird since Hawkman’s whole thing is dying and reincarnating, like what exactly did he accomplish by “saving” him?

1

u/Misanthropus Oct 31 '22 edited Oct 31 '22

I mean, to be fair, he is literally his old friend, and Kent was tired of seeing the future, and he says as much leading up to it. It's not the best writing, I agree, and I would've done it differently. But it isn't "confusing" - it's all there in the film.

Edit: Just because reincarnation is possible, doesn't mean dying has no consequences. As Kent also says in the movie; the Justice Society needs him. So, who knows what was accomplished, or not, we literally don't know. But Kent saw the future, and perhaps the JS losing their leader ends up being worse than losing Fate – but, like Hawk-Man, it's just losing Kent, not Fate – it's just a choice he made, and at least there's explanation for his choice and motive.
