I think killing Dr Fate is a missed opportunity, he could have added so many new aspects to the universe and Brosnan delivered a good performance. Feels weird, like if Marvel killed Doctor Strange in his first appearance.

I expected more from Dr Fate. More magic. More fate. More ancientness.

Instead he just kinda cast the same spells against both Black Adam and Sabbac.

Yeah but someone else can take up the mantle by the end of it? Might get a new, less experienced dr fate in the future

Agree but I think they are setting up a younger group. We may get douchebag Fate (Hall) as a kind of Stark/Strange hybrid character? But that would take some setup since he's the child of Hawkman (but they did already establish the relationship for Hawkman and Fate so it's possible)

It skips over another Dr Fate potential so maybe we get Strauss(&Mom!) first.

We can still get him back. In some continuities, Kent Nelson's spirit chills with Nabu in the helmet. He can be the next Fate's spirit guide, mentoring him on how to use the helmet.
