Curious how people felt about how strong Hawkman was. He was like going toe-to-toe with fucking Black Adam and was fine!

I was 100% surprised Hawkman was that strong. Clearly outgunned by Black Adam, but he seems to be in the same tier that Aquaman and Wonder Woman occupy in the DCEU. Dudes a monster. Glad they put some respect on Aldis Hodges name.

Went in most excited for Dr Fate and came out loving Hawkman the most. He was badass!

I was very happy to see him at that level as well. And Aldis brought it! Very pleased with the movie!

I thought it was strong casting and a good rendition of Hawkman. I liked that his mace could turn into an axe and stuff. I liked how they showed his armor was supermagic durable, but also scratched. He was a Hawkman that had seen some shit (or at least his armor had).

I like that they didn't feel the need to tell us an origin story. "This is Hawkman, he fights crime" and they didn't feel the need to make him infallible. Overall I would rather see him in future movies than more of Cyborg or Flash or Battfleck.

I also think it was a very elegant choice to make sure Hawkman was a black man in the movie about Black Adam vs "White" Hawkman, considering that the source material for Black Adam is already pretty problematic to contemporary eyes. It was well done. It didn't feel like a story from another era when racial sensitivities were different, nor did it feel like a "woke version" that failed to respect the source material. It was just a story. Which is a real thread of the needle imho.

Aldis Hodge really knocked it out of the park as Hawkman. Hope to see more him as the character. I liked what they did with the character's weapons and armor as well.

Yea, but he still seemed to strong to me!

Personally I like versions of the Justice League stories where all the heroes are presented as pretty much equally powerful with different strengths and weaknesses, and I think Hawkman or Hawkgirl is a good candidate for a Justice League member.

I feel like Marvel comics does more cool stuff with really unbalanced teams, but DC seems to work best when they are a fellowship of equals.

The downside of that is that it means there is some powerlevel sliding for certain heroes. The "year one" Batman is not the same one who is going to believably condescend to Superman and Green Lantern or Martian Manhunter often have to be nerfed slightly. But I prefer that to the alternative.

I think it’s because of his Nth metal. It’s supposed to be resistant to magic right? And isn’t Black Adam 100% magic?

Yea I guess…. Still the most powerful Hawkman I’ve ever seen!
