Why we need 2A Buying guns is a lost cause for Canadians at this point.

We're seeing the government salami slice away all of our guns. First it was the ar-15, then handguns and now we're not even allowed to use a .22lr rifle IF it's SHAPED like a military rifle. Canada is a disgusting country to be in that doesn't care about its rights. The only thing you can buy is freakin hunting rifles. Government is also figuring out a way to confiscate everyone's current AR-15s.

I'm a much bigger fan of the US constitution where it's written as a right so the government is not allowed to pass any unreasonable restrictions to firearms. The handgun freeze here helps with nothing; just to cure Trudeau's warped sense of reality that burglars and gangs purchase guns from a licensed store to commit crimes.

I hate Canada and like the USA better for many other reasons, but one of the main ones is guns and it's why I wish to make the immigration journey a reality.

The 16 year old brought a revolver and "quite a bit of ammunition" to school Wednesday, firing and reloading repeatedly as he searched for targets throughout the building, said Kelley.

Gov. Jared Polis on Thursday signed into law one of the most restrictive gun regulations ever adopted in Colorado. Senate Bill 3 bans the manufacture and drastically restricts the sale of certain semiautomatic firearms in Colorado. It’s aimed at reducing the carnage that can be inflicted during a mass shooting. “I really think this will make Colorado safer,” Polis said before signing the bill in his office at the Colorado Capitol.

Senate bill 3 takes effect August 2026.

Baird v. Bonta (California handgun Open Carry lawsuit) Update

Much to my surprise, Mark Baird's lawyer filed a notice of supplemental authority (28(j) letter) regarding the Florida Court of Appeals decision that declared Florida's Open Carry ban to be a violation of the Second Amendment. Link.

The State of California filed its response. Link.

The State continues to insist that unlicensed Open Carry is not a right, even though there are no statewide licenses for Open Carry provided for by California law. The State also continues to misquote NYSRPA v. Bruen, which said "Finally, States could lawfully eliminate one kind of public carry—concealed carry..." According to the State of California, what SCOTUS said is that states can lawfully eliminate Open Carry if it allows concealed carry.

As Judge N.R. Smith told the state's attorney in the oral argument to Baird v. Bonta, he had read all of the relevant 19th century court cases and authorities, and none of them said that Open Carry can be banned if concealed carry is allowed. Link.

What is with the left and TGO’s trying to spin assassins and mass shooters as conservatives?

The first Trump assassination attempt was spun as the assassin being a Trump supporter. Which if you got to his socials before they got erased he very much hated Trump and the GOP. His actions spoke louder than words and he very much marched to the beat of liberalism. All they have to go off of was one time he switched to being a registered GOP, but again, actions speak louder than words.

Just recently the Catholic school shooter in Minnesota was also spun as being conservative despite being trans and having anti-Christian and anti-conservative messages on the firearms. I read them all, he was very much not a conservative.

Now already the Kirk assassin is being pinned as conservative despite the pro-LGBT messages on the shell casings…

It gets old, I love clowning on liberals and TGO’s as much as the next guy, but the inability for them to acknowledge they are the drivers of what we are going through gets old.

Since the grabbers are being giddy about it let's make one thing absolutely clear:

None of the common "common sense" gun control talking points besides a complete ban on ownership would have prevented this.

It was a single shot from a couple hundred yards against a stationary target. Anyone who'd put in a bare minimum of effort to understand shooting could have made that shot from a rest with a single shot bolt gun.

Anyone who uses this to try and say we should ban semi autos or magazine capacities, any feature or class of weapons ban is an idiot who doesn't know what they're talking about, and the only thing they'll accomplish if they get their way is starting a new drug war.

Debate With the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk-this is an important reminder that guns aren’t the problem; culture, poverty and mental health is to blame. See more in post for accredited data. Please share this.

*Edit: (Clarification) I encourage those to seek help that have mental health problems like military vets with PTSD. There are MILLIONS of people with mental health issues that function just fine in society-people who take medications or seek therapy to help manage it for years/decades without any issues; it’s wrong to demonize that. I’m saying our corrupt healthcare system is so expensive and overburdened that this shouldn’t be happening in one of the richest countries in the world.

With the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk-this is an important reminder that guns aren’t the problem; culture, poverty and mental health is to blame. See more in post for accredited data. Actual source links are at the bottom of the page.

Why Gun Bans Don’t Work

The U.S. has 393 million privately owned firearms, more guns than people (Small Arms Survey). The 1994 Assault Weapons Ban showed no measurable impact on homicide rates, proving bans don’t solve violence (RAND).

Homicide and Mass Shooting Risk

Black Americans are 13.7% of the population but made up 53.8% of homicide victims in 2023 (VPC). Their homicide rate was 26.6 per 100,000, compared to 3.2 for White Americans.

According to the FBI’s “Expanded Homicide Data, Table 6” (2019), of single-victim/single-offender murders where both victim and offender race are known, 2,574 out of 2,906 Black victims were killed by Black offenders. That’s around 88.5% of those homicides. (FBI CRIME REPORT 2019).

Mass shootings are extremely rare. The odds of being killed in one are about 1 in 9.1 million per year, and the odds of being injured are about 1 in 6.4 million per year (Cato Institute).

Root Causes of Violence

Violence stems from poverty, untreated mental illness, broken families, and social isolation.

1 in 4 U.S. children grow up without a father, strongly linked to higher delinquency (National Fatherhood Initiative).

Children from single parent homes are twice as likely to commit crimes (NCBI Study).

Mental health treatment can reduce recidivism by 36% (arxiv.org).

Repeat Offenders

Over 60% of violent federal offenders are rearrested, showing the justice system’s failure to contain repeat violent criminals (USSC).

The Solution

To reduce violence, society must focus on addressing root causes: 1. Strengthen families and communities 2. Expand mental health care 3. Reduce poverty and inequality 4. Hold repeat violent offenders accountable

Blaming guns and punishing lawful owners will never solve the problem.

Zero gun laws?

I lean pretty far to the right when it comes to gun laws but alot of the comments I read around here make me feel like that isnt the case.

I just wanted to get a feel for some peoples opinions. Do you guys really think there should be zero laws when it comes to guns? Do you think a schizophrenic sociopath should be able to walk into a bodega and buy an rpg? Or a nine year old go into a 7/11 and buy a machine gun? I just feel like there would be complete chaos if there werent any type of rules in place.

Debate In the Coming Months: Liberals and RINOs Will Use Charlie Kirk Assassination (possibly others) to Push Gun and Suppressor Bans, Keep Suppressors Stuck on the NFA, and Expand Palantir’s Surveillance State. Tale as old as time. See Post for Explanation.

In the Coming Months: Liberals and RINOs Will Use Charlie Kirk Assassination (possibly others) to Push Gun and Suppressor Bans, Keep Suppressors Stuck on the NFA, and Expand Palantir’s Surveillance State. Tale as old as time. See Post for Explanation.

The assassination of Charlie Kirk, and likely more in the future, isn’t about guns but a broken mental health system, economic collapse from AI job loss, and the mass transfer of wealth to elites during Covid. Liberals will push gun bans and RINOs will follow, while others call for locking people up or bringing back asylums. “Crazy” becomes code for more red flag laws and creeping tyranny. Who decides you’re crazy, a politician? We allowed the Patriot Act and now they want JD Vance and Peter Thiel’s Palantir to predict crimes before they happen. This is about elitist control. The Epstein files prove it as they spit in our faces and say nothing is there. The real answer is fixing mental health care and the economy, not bans, asylums, or mass surveillance. As Benjamin Franklin warned, those who trade liberty for temporary control deserve neither.

Florida Open Carry ban Declared Unconstitutional

Thumbnail
open.substack.com

"Florida law generally makes it a crime for an ordinary, law abiding, adult citizen to carry a firearm openly in public. Stanley Victor McDaniels was convicted under that law, and he now appeals. He contends that this open carry ban is incompatible with the Second Amendment’s guarantee of the right to bear arms. Guided by the Constitution’s text and this Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation, we agree. We therefore declare the law unconstitutional, vacate McDaniels’s conviction, and reverse his sentence."

I am unfamiliar with the effect a decision by a State of Florida appellate court has on others. For example, a similar ruling was made in the State of California in 2023 (People v. Miller 94 Cal. App. 5th 935). The California State Court system operates in a manner where, as a published decision, it is binding on every California state trial court judge. However, the decision does not preclude prosecution for violating California’s Open Carry bans.
