From 2023 to Today: Still Going Strong

Post image

I’ve been a proud owner since 2023. 60,000 km on the clock. I’ve already had great adventures with this buddy, and it’s been a reliable companion for trips with my partner and our little daughters. Runs on LPG and petrol and off we go! Apart from a few noises I don’t really like, I have zero regrets!

Issue with Dacia 3 2025 stick, changing gears.

Hi.

Edit: Dacia Sandero expression 3 2025 .0

Anyone had a rough experience changing gears into 1st, or from 2nd to 3rd, or downshifting from 4th to 3rd, that offered quite a bit of resistance?

I have to apply more force than going from 3rd to 4th or 4th to 5th. And it feels clicky, difficult. For the third I shift from 2nd pretty much gently forward to slide into 3rd.

I've kinda expected to be a smoother modern car, it's brand new from the shop, roughly 2k kilometres.

I shift around 2.5k or 3k rpms, always decompressing the clutch fully.

Is it because the car is brand new, and needs to be worked out?

Any similar experiences? Thanks in advance.

I am so fed up with my Duster 2024

Post image

I bought the car earlier this year, brand new, top spec, beautiful car. But I'm so disappointed with it. I loved my Sandero Stepway and I regret 'upgrading'.

I've had nothing but problems. The latest is that it's not recognising my keycard. No physical manual comes with this car (incredibly irritating) and when I've googled it there seems to be no explanation as to where these zones specifically are other than unhelpful descriptions like the rear of the armrest. The rear could mean anywhere at the rear and it just isn't helpful when I'm getting stressed that my car isn't starting and I'm running late. Why isn't there clear, hold symbols highlighting where these zones are!?

Anyway, does anybody know, specifically? I'm hungry and nearly in tears about why something that should be so simple is so damn difficult.

Sincerely,

Frustrated Driver

Dacia and Home Assistant

If you use Home Assistant, you can use the Renault integration to show information on your car. The picture shows the information I am getting back. So they blocked quite bit of information.

I also have an automation running that will log the data every day to a .csv file. That way i get a nice log of my millage.

More info on the plugin is here: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/dacia/

Low / Intermittent Charging In Dacia Duster & others - fault or smart charging?

I've been going through a major learning curve since getting my 2017 Duster; it's put me face-to-face with modern vehicle technology and I would like to spare others like me some of the head-scratching.

I replaced the battery recently and thought it a good idea to do a quick look at it with my multimeter to make sure it was all still charging OK. With the engine idling, I saw a surprisingly low voltage reading and got concerned about a charging fault. I bought one of those voltage-reading plugs to go into the 12v accessory socket in the centre console to monitor things while I was driving and then I saw some behavior that looked really odd to me:

  • Voltage readings all over the place; sometimes mid to low 12v, sometimes 12.8, sometimes 13
  • The only time I saw a “decent” charge of over 14v was when I was slowing to take a speed bump, or engine braking down a hill.
  • Raising engine rpm didn’t help

It took me a while to discover that this is pretty normal behavior for a car with ECU controlled charging and a form of regenerative engine breaking (yep, petrol Duster II, not some fancy hybrid).

Don't go down a rabbit hole like me! If you really want to check that things are OK, Google for an alternator test and DO NOT skip the step where you’re told to load up the electrical system by putting on the radio, lights, turning up the fan, putting AC on etc. This load temporarily turns your smart alternator set up into an old school, dumb one and the readings you take at this point will better reflect how the charging system is working, either helping you to identify a genuine fault or reassuring you that there isn’t one.

Dacia front wheel bearing question

Exactly where does this part fit in the front wheel left side of a Dacia Logan 2017 with ABS.?

Im in the process of changing the front wheel bearing, and I cant recall this part being mounted, yet it is included in the new bearing kit.

Thanks

Duster 3 real world fuel economy.

Hi guys thought I’d share my Duster III MPG. 1.6L Hybrid.

Mix of driving including motorway and lots of short sub 10 minute drives. Not driven with any economical mindset. All with air conditioning on and roof bars permanently fixed to roof. Entirely driven in B mode (regen braking)

From fuel warning light to fuel warning light;

530miles - 852km Average MPG 60.2mpg - 21.3 KM per litre.

I think I could achieve 550-600 miles easily if I drove economically.

Hope this helps 👍🏻

Duster/Bigster parts prices

Hi everyone, I was thinking of buying the new Bigster and since it’s not a premium car (but with decent quality) I was wondering how much regular parts are? Like brake pads, discs, steering arm or a knuckle.

I am referring to 2024 and newer models and I know these are all still in warranty so not many needed service for these parts.

[Sandero Stepway] Coolant already at minimum?

I was goofing around my grandma's Sandero and I noticed the Coolant is almost at minimum already, it's got 7471km (4642mi) and they bought it in November 2024, they should bring it to a mechanic for the yearly check up in November, and I'm kind of a newbie, but low coolant does not sound safe at all. Sandero Stepway 1.0 TCe ExtremeUp.

Dacia Spring "Vacation mode"

Does anyone know if the Spring has a "vacation mode" or you can have it plugged in over a long period of time, trickle charging it to a certain percentage battery?

I'm considering buying this as a vacation vehicle and we'll use it 2 to 3 months once a year (maybe even 2 years), but long-term storage suggests you need to have the battery at 30% and 80% charge which can only be achieved with a vacation mode setting much like the Tesla.

Dacia Spring head unit replacement

Hi! I'm looking to buy a Dacia Spring. At my location the market is currently not the best. I found a suitable car, but it only has the "analog" Media Control unit (non-touchscreen), but I'd rather have one with the Media Nav (touchscreen) unit. I looked for Media Nav units online and found that it's possible to buy used OEM units. My questions are: Does anyone have experience with changing the unit? Is it plug and play? Should I be aware of anything regarding the topic (head unit serial etc.)?

Thanks for the answers!

Bigster yout best mpg so far?

Curious to hear what you've been able to pull of with the Bigster full hybrid. My best so far is 3,6 l / 100 km (78,47 uk mpg) on a 62 km oneway trip (avg speed 46,2 kph, 60% EV).
