Is there a Martial Arts economy in Dagestan like there is in Thailand?

13% of Thailand's entire GDP is from Muay Thai and 20% of all tourism is from Muay Thai.

Is there a similar economy in Dagestan? If not, what is preventing it?

Not really. We only started to get tourists in the last 4-5 years. And most of them are Russians coming for the sea and mountains.

First of all, Dagestani wrestlers are Muslim and most grew up in poverty, don’t think they would like the idea of commercialising their training ground. Second, unlike Thailand the weather in Dagestan is often cold so good luck trying to survive a year there. Lastly, don’t expect them trying to converse in English, better learn Russian.
