I have ARGUMENTS to ship them.

Both are shy(not that important).

The starter/cheapest toon with main character/most expensive toon.

On Boxten's RP room, it has a note where he thinks Astro doesn't like him because he has nightmares(which means they do have some kind of connection).

Twisteds have 4 arms.

One is square, other is round(extremely random reason don't hear me).

Boxten's ability makes him kinda in need of a team to be better, while Astro can support the team, he has the ability to regen stamina faster.

Boxten is a music box, which is not silent and depending on the music(ultra hard mega phone ahh guy) may cause a lot of sound. Astro resembles the night, which is generally associated with silence, nature sounds, etc.

PART 1: Interactions

Glisten and Rodger currently have two elevator interactions. In the first one, Glisten comments on Rodger's smudged glass.

Glisten: ...

Rodger: ...

Glisten: Rodger.

Rodger: Don't say it.

Glisten: It's not my fault I notice the smudges on your glass!

Rodger: I am plenty well-kept!

In the second one, Rodger checks in on Glisten to make sure he's doing okay.

Rodger: You're keeping safe I hope?

Glisten: Me? Rodger please, I make this look easy.

Rodger: ...I saw you almost walk into a wall.

Glisten: Tch... you're seeing things.

Rodger: I've got a keen eye, Glisten. Don't forget that.

Glisten: Mhmmm... I'm alright.

Though seemingly incidental, there's lots here to discuss.

Starting with the first, we're told Glisten cares enough about Rodger to notice something as small as the smudges on his face. This may come across as trivial, especially for someone obsessed with appearance, but it's pretty out of character for him to notice something so small! From his interactions with Cosmo, Shelly, and Yatta, we can infer that Glisten is actually really *bad* at noticing things about others.

He forgets Cosmo's stars are a part of his appearance:

Glisten: Cosmo those stars on your cheeks are such a lovely bit of makeup!

Cosmo: Glisten, those aren't makeup, I've always had these.

Glisten: Seriously?

Cosmo: Yeah, they're on all my art around Gardenview!

Glisten: I knew that! How could I not know that! Haha...

Writes Yatta's circus troupe off as "clown stuff:"

Glisten: So, you do a bunch of clown stuff for your little clown group?

Yatta: It's NOT a clown group! It's a circus troupe!

Glisten: Right, well, aren't you all clowns?

Yatta: NOPE!! Looey kinda is-! But otherwise I'm an acrobat, and Blot's a mime!

Glisten: Oh, I guess that's not as bad as I thought.

And even mispronounces Shelly's name:

Shelly: Glisten, how do you do it?

Glisten: Hm? Do what...?

Shelly: Get everyone to notice you?

Glisten: Aw! I'm so glad you asked me Shelby!

Shelly: My name is Shelly.

Glisten: RIGHT! That was a test! Of memory! Anyways- I'll actually tell you later!

These aren't little details he just missed, they're basic facts about toons he lives with. He should've picked up on these things ages ago, yet they seem to slip his mind.

But Rodger's smudges? He comments on them immediately (and often enough for Rodger to know it's coming.)

"But maybe the smudges are really obvious!"

Maybe, but if so, wouldn't Tisha have said something about them? In the singular interaction she has with Rodger, she makes no note of his glass...

Rodger: Tisha, think you could find the time to help me organize some files later?

Tisha: Ah record keeping some new data?

Rodger: Yes, I trust only your eyes to help and keep things silent.

Tisha: I know that one isn't true, you have a few trusted Toons in your corner.

Rodger: Yes, well, some of my trusted friends don't know how to organize well.

...and from what we know about Tisha, she *would* point something like that out. She's very adamant when it comes to cleanliness, sometimes to the dismay of others. It's practically her job to be.

This is what makes Glisten's comment so interesting. If he's noticing details that Tisha is missing, that means he's been paying *very* close attention to Rodger's face. Hmm... suspcious.

Interaction two gives us more insight into Rodger's feelings towards Glisten. He's one of the only toons he checks up on, and of them, he's the one that Rodger is the most worried about. The other two, Boxten and Brightney, get far less personal questions about their well-being.

Rodger: Boxten, keeping your mind steady and clear?

Boxten: Uhm... N-not really?

Rodger: Well, try counting if you find yourself worried or stressed!

Rodger: Brightney! Keeping clever I assume?

Brightney: Yup! I'm making sure to re-read the whole collection of books I got!

Rodger: Your mind must be sharp as it is bright!

It says a lot that Rodger will tell Boxten to count if he's feeling nervous, but he'll tell Glisten not to forget his "keen eye," implying that he's keeping watch over him specifically.

The obvious conclusion being: the two both give each other attention that they don't give to other toons.

But it doesn't stop there! Glisten's interactions with Toodles also give us some extra layers to his and Rodger's relationship.

The first one isn't much, just Toodles asking Glisten to do her makeup, but it is noteworthy that Glisten gets along so well with Rodger's daughter. The second one, however…

Glisten: Toodles! Hiii buddy! How are you? You better be good!

Toodles: I am good! Even better when you're here!

Glisten: I know... everything is better with me.

Toodles: Yeah! Even when you're doing that thing where you cry and complain to Rodger!

Glisten: ...I think that's enough chatting for now, hahaha-

What Toodles says here is extremely significant. Though easy to brush off Glisten "crying and complaining to Rodger" as a funny comment, it holds a LOT of weight! Glisten NEVER tells toons about his problems or insecurities. The mere implication of imperfect makes him deflect.

He won't let Astro discuss his concerning dreams in public...

Astro: Glisten your dreams have been a concern recently...

Glisten: Huh? OH! HAHA...Let's not talk about that here Astro!

Astro: But-

Glisten: Be so patient Astro! Later, please!

Astro: ...A-alright.

He panics when Sprout suggests his mirror is cracked...

Sprout: Glisten, doing alright? No injuries?

Glisten: Sprout, you're sooo clingy! I'm fine, perfect even!

Sprout: ...Is that a little crack on your mirror?

Glisten: OH MY GOODNESS -WHERE!?

Sprout: Right, so you're still doing "perfect"...

Glisten: Sprout!! Don't tease me like that!

He won't even tell Tisha his morning routine.

Tisha: Glisten how do you keep your glass so clean?

Glisten: It's simple really! I've got a morning routine.

Tisha: What's the morning routine?

Glisten: ...A secret.

Tisha: You just use a towel don't you?

Glisten: Hush, hush- Let's focus now haha!

But according to Toodles, Glisten has a habit of going to Rodger (and only Rodger) with his problems. Sure, these could be very superficial issues he's getting off his chest, but even the most shallow of problems are ones Glisten does not want others to know about. He has an image to maintain, after all! Yet Rodger is the exception...

...This goes both ways, which brings me to:

PART 2: Implications

Returning to Rodger and Tisha's interaction, there is definite proof that Glisten is one of the "trusted friends" Rodger is referring to. For starters, I've already covered the close bond the two share. But is Glisten also disorganized? YES!

Compare Glisten's room to Goob and Scraps', one canonically considered dirty. They're a very similar amount of messy. Crumpled-up papers, mismatched carpets, food lying around the place... none of that reads "organized."

Speaking of Glisten's room, there exists a particular note in which Glisten details an encounter he had with Rodger where he helped him carry files into the elevator.

"I saw Rodger carrying a large stack of files recently into the elevator."

"Obviously he was struggling to carry it all! So being the perfect, kind, AMAZING Toon I am... I helped."

"He told me I showed up at the right time."

"Of course I did."

"I'm always there at the best times."

"I just wish everyone could see that."

"I should spend time with him more."

Not only does this prove that Glisten is willing to help him, but also that Rodger would otherwise trust him to. This note also tells us Rodger gives Glisten the validation he craves from the other toons. Why else would he end it off with "I should spend time with [Rodger] more" if he wasn't flattered by his compliment? 

So we have the dynamic, but what can be done with it? Let us discuss:

PART THREE: Potential

This part will mainly consist of how I interpret Glisten and Rodger's relationship. It will focus less on canon itself and more on the fun ways you can build off of it.

Glisten yearns for attention; it says so on his title card:

"Glisten is a charismatic mirror who always wants the spotlight! Sometimes his ego brings up new issues but he will always stand up for his friends and what's right."

Rodger is someone who can give him not just the attention he wants, but also the attention he needs. In multiple ways, whether it be through compliments or concerns, Rodger makes Glisten feel seen. His praise means enough to Glisten for him to journal about it, and though he brushes off Rodger's regards for his safety in their elevator interaction, he'll still go to him to "cry and complain." Besides, Rodger is a detective. It's his job to see through facades. He'd know when Glisten is putting up a front of perfection and be able to look past it to see the real him. What else is that keen eye for, right?

And what of Glisten's part in their relationship? Considering how unpopular Rodger is with the other toons, particularly the mains, having someone like Glisten to help with carrying files and bantering about smudged glass is a lot. Even if it is "part of the job" as a detective, nobody enjoys being disliked or dismissed by others, especially former friends. Yet despite Rodger's reputation, Glisten is in his corner.

There is more I could discuss, but that will have to be saved for a continuation. This post is already long enough! But I hope this shines some light on ReflectiveDetective's charm. It's one of my favorite pairings and I hope to share it with more people. Thank you for reading!

Astro uses his magic to float around his room and gently bounces off the walls

When blot accidentally runs into walls he leaves a ink outline of himself

Vee can run Minecraft Java edition

When connie phases through walls, she sometimes spots Yatta in her wall/vent adventures

The janitorial staff of Gardenview have cleaned out Yatta’s winter candy stash several times 

Boxten can remove the musical stuff in his head and can store items in it

Flyte knows almost all the Minecraft commands and he helps flutter use them

Looey is so light, when he goes outside he has to tie a ballon weight To himself so he doesnt blow away.

The only times Shrimpo isnt angry is when hes sleeping and when hes putting tacks in Looeys room

Bassie sometimes carries around Pebble and Toodles around in her basket and it hurts her neck but she refuses to disappoint them.

The weight that twisted Rnd is tied to is Shrimpo’s beloved 40 pound metal brick. He twisted first because he wanted to fight Dandy, Rnd knew what was happening and went to find something to tie themselves down before they twisted so they wouldn’t hurt anyone

Shelly wants to discover a new dinosaur

Astro has a secret interest in tornadoes and wants to go storm chasing

Sprout secretly likes eating cake rolls and will not tell cosmo

Idk why but I for some reason see him as a Maggot and a Juggalo

I have 2 crack headcanons- one for Astro and one for Shrimpo.

1- Shrimpo has arthritis, which is why he's so angry and slow.

2- Astro, when drunk, gives people wet dreams as a "prank".

I cannot look at these two together when my mind has that idea that I headcannon them as father and son

(LARGE TEXT ALERT)It annoys me a little when a new character is released and people seem more concerned with making headcanons of that character than actually trying to understand the character. Literally the day Yatta was released I saw people saying she was pan just because of her colors, I saw people arguing because they had conflicting headcanons, among other things. Of course it's not a problem to have a headcanon, make shpis or think that a certain Toon has a certain sexuality, what I think is a problem are people who put their headcanons above the Toon itself sometimes.An example is the Shelly and Ver ship that started because of a poster, but seeing their interactions, Vee's indifference towards Shelly is noticeable, again, there's no problem in you shipping the two,the problem is that you take this as an absolute truth and get irritated that someone doesn't agree with such a thing, many people think that this ship is almost a fact, which is not true. Try to be more aware guys, some things are only true in your head.
