I may not be good biggest fan but he has most of what is needed to mobilize folks. Also, he's white and male, so he won't offend Republicans who are in the fence. With Newsom, Democrats have a real shot. Let's be pragmatic about this. Once reason has returned to the White House, we can think about electing better candidates. Right now, it's about survival, or let me call it revival, if our democracy. Fully supporting Newsom at this point. Also, secretly still hoping Jon Stewart changes his mind and runs.

I mean I like that a democrat is doing SOMETHING but Newsom is not the one for meaningful change

I mean, you're right on Newsom not being the best candidate. But I will say Newsom knows the moment for now and is responding correctly to it, and I think someone better is going to come out of the woodwork in the next 3 years.

And to people saying "purity politics" here, this is the best time to focus in on purity politics. The general election is when you're supposed to ditch it, and that's over three years away. The options for the primary aren't even finalized.

Agreed he is hitting the moment (as I mentioned). Let’s hope that the Democrats can actually have a reasonable presidential primary for the first time since Obama‘s first term. IMO, we have not had one since ‘08. There could be argument for Biden having a reasonably open first presidential primary, but the DNC was already in full force behind him by February.
