Megathread [D2] Trials of Osiris Megathread [2025-09-05]

Trials of Osiris is LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

FAQ

What are the Trials of Osiris?

  • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every weekend, players compete in a 3v3 game mode with one primary goal: Go to the Lighthouse.

  • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

  • The Lighthouse Passage grants entry to the Lighthouse after reaching 7 wins, with better rewards for larger win streaks.

  • For those not interested in visiting the Lighthouse, a lower-stakes Passage is available.

  • Matchmaking parameters are based on Passage.

  • There is fireteam matchmaking. However, we still recommend you find a team for yourself!

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

  • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

  • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to team up with?

  • You can use the in-game Fireteam Finder or head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App). Additionally, many Discord servers host fireteam LFG services.

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

  • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If not, ask below in the comments.

Discussion I miss playing but I have ZERO interest in playing this version of Destiny 2

I played for about 2 weeks into EOF trying to grind via the portal system and I just couldn't do it. I no longer felt like I was playing the Destiny 2 I know and love. I'm not against change as the Destiny 2 I have nearly 4000 hours in has changed a lot over the years but the portal feels like the Destiny 2 I put all those hours into, was taken out back to be put down in favor of a terribly unfinished, underbaked, frankensteined version of a "new" update. I've been playing since Destiny 1 on the Xbox 360 through all the ups and downs but this was the first time I felt bungie genuinely didn't care about my time one bit. Swapping out the weekly pinnacle missions, raids rotators, dungeons rotators, GMs, vender reward tracks, and the pathfinder that allowed me to play either Strikes, Crucible, or even Gambit and still get some rewards, for the portal genuinely makes my head hurt to think about. I feel they had this amazing game with an alive world that always kept me coming back for more to keep building onto, but instead they literally buried the game I've been playing these last 8 years, in favor of a game that will drip feed us content through a vastly inferior system. To be clear its not the modifiers I have a problem with or even the idea of a portal in general but way they rolled this out. We went from the systems previously mentioned to running what is essentially a lost sector and Star crossed for 2 months.

I was looking at ash and Iron as a potential jumping back in point but no SIVA, no Splicers, and we get Cabal and Vex instead? What are we doing here? Like Genuinely? This is not acceptable. Imagine they remastered the moon for Shadow Keep but there was no Hellmouth or Hive temples. What would be the point and what is the point of the Plague Lands coming back if you're going to do it this dirty? It feels like a cheap way to manipulate people into hopping on the game in an attempt to get them to buy skins in what will inevitably be a fully SIVAd out Eververse store after you throw 5 pop ups on login advertising all the cool new Eververse gear that will be available to buy while not putting any of the SIVA flair into the actual fan favorite destination. We know they can make old destinations feel new while still feeing faithful to the original because the just did it to the Dreadnaught last Episode. Too bad they deleted that I guess. The other thing I'm supposed to be excited about is **checks notes** Dungeon encounters? We cant even have FULL dungeons that have been out for years in this new system? What is the point of the system if it cant feature the best content Destiny has to offer In FULL? Make it make sense.

I am 100% sincere when I say I want the game to succeed but I genuinely do not know if they have the man power to fix Destiny 2 at this moment in time due to the layoffs, being spread thin from working on other projects, and all the dev time that's most likely going into finishing/Polishing Renegades. They have a seemingly impossible task Infront of them. I know Bungie always manages to find their way out of the messes they make but dang, they sure have to show the world they still have that magic in them to not only make something special but also repair the damage that has already been done.

EDIT: To anyone in a similar position as I am, I definitely recommend checking out Destiny 1 if you have a console that can play it. Super fun if you can get over the 30fps and no fov slider and still has a healthy population on Xbox one. Also most importantly the progression is fun :)

Discussion Dungeon Lairs feel absurd when we literally just had Explorer/Ultimatum Mode.

1.1k Upvotes

It's genuinely crazy how fast we went from what felt like the perfect solution for dungeons going forward, to what feels like a last minute band aid attempt for making them relevant to the new portal mod system. Explorer versions weren't perfect but they were a great starting point for getting new players who never even considered that content was made for them to give it a shot, and Ultimatum gave veterans a solid challenge and shakeup to content they've already played a million times. Hell even Eternity mode versions were almost objectively just upgrades to the overall experience of playing each dungeon (only 3 rounds on opening of GotD was a godsend lol).

But now after RotN ended and EoF/The Portal began... we need to settle for modified single encounters ripped from dungeons? Seriously? We really gotta keep removing content from its context and cohesion? Idk man, this current direction for Destiny is just sooo off the mark for what makes the game great. Or sure maybe Hefnd with Locked Loadout/No Hud/Brawn/Caltrops/Slow&Small/Blindfold/Hands-tied-behind-back at -50 will be peak or whatever lol.

Question I swear to god this game explains nothing

hi I tried to play Destiny 2 few times but I always get stuck somewhere. I just learned about guardian rank and that I should follow it. Now I had to do mission with boons and I chose fireteam, nobody joined so I went solo. I got to end of spire and need to eliminate the spire wardens. Man I have killed that Hiruk warden like 15 times now but he just respawns and other 2 are protected. I run whole area multiple times there is nothing else to destroy here just this warden Hiruk that respawns.

What tha hell am I supposed to do?

Bungie Suggestion This "New Gear" half-botched system needs to go as it's too restrictive and doesn't allow players to play the way they want with their favorite loadouts.

Bungie, you either make ALL GEAR that drops during the newest expansion to be marked as "New Gear" or just disable the whole thing like today until you figure out how to make it work properly. And Exotics should be outside this system and be "Permanently New" or something.

If your new team is unable to make fun to play gear, they just hire a new team. Don't make some forced artificial changes.

Remember Forsaken? Everybody and their mom were farming for the new armors and guns and stuff outside of maybe a couple of old exotics. You know why? Because the new stuff was fun to play with and performed better overall (like guns got an extra perk and new cool archetypes, etc.).

Remember the Witch Queen? The same thing. Everybody was farming for the new stuff.

But when you release some ugly stuff with useless perks we shouldn't be forced into using it. Just make good stuff and the game will get back its Golden Age.

Discussion I hate heavy metal

I mean heavy metal when it first released was fun but then making it the only way to obtain new weapons in an event is insane to me and then when you get the drake tank you might as well give up bcuz the brig is just better I keep flipping over or have trouble maneuvering in the tank which gets me killed honestly and I only get one of either or and I haven’t even gotten a single roll of the sword or the shotgun that I want and if I lose it drops a tier I’m 340 power I only get tier 3s but once I lose I get a fucking tier 2 which lowers my chances of getting my godroll I have to win I have to play this bs and I have to suffer more than I ever have grinding something I consider even more soul sucking than caldera

Discussion You should be able to pay some kind of resource(s) to upgrade your exotic armor tier

I still am not a fan of it dropping at tier 2, but even if they want to do that, you should be able to pay to upgrade the tiers. Maybe 3 Ascendant Shards to go from Tier 2 to 3, 1 Exotic Cipher to go from 3 to 4, and 2 or 3 Exotic Ciphers to go from Tier 4 to 5, that way it’s quite an investment and you have to decide deliberately per piece of armor,

but it’s sooOoOoO stupid that exotic armor is stuck at tier 2. Like wth

Discussion If Bungie wants Kepler to not be part of the Power Level grind, that’s fine. But it shouldn’t require PL to get max tier loot.

Largely, I think it’s probably fine if LL is just a Portal thing. I think the Raid mostly gets it right: its an isolated mini-grind where Power level is irrelevant and its all about difficulty modifiers. Obviously ignoring the fact that T5 is locked until Epic releases which kinda sucks.

Kepler COULD have also been a perfect isolated mini-grind, but instead they tied T4-5 to getting Power Level… that you can’t meaningfully progress on Kepler. I think the gameplay loop of “play on Kepler, get loot to be good enough for the next World Tier, repeat” would have been a great loop. But the reality is that the current loop is “play the campaign, then go play Portal activities until 450 so you aren’t wasting your time”.

And this issue will only become exasperated in Renegades if/when the power cap is reverted to 200. It won’t be so bad for people who hit 450 since I think the tier upgrades are permanent, but for people who have no interest in playing the Portal or don’t have much time? That’s rough.

If Expansion content going forward is going to be isolated from the Core Game, it needs to also be isolated from the Power Level system entirely.

Question A little confused on what resets this Tuesday

So this Tuesday is not a new season but it kinda is, i don’t stay up to date on twids so please correct me if I’m wrong:

Do drip bounties (ada-1 armor synthesis bounties) reset?

Weekly seasonal challenge will be refreshed

Season pass goes away

PVP comp rank does not refresh but we do get the ascendant emblem?

Am I missing anything else?

Question At what point is it worth deleting all old armour innthe vault exept rare spikes?

Im about to hit level 300, is that an acceptable time to delete all old armour? My vault is overflowing

Discussion i hate to say it......but BRING BACK FLASHPOINTS

i think we need flash points. i think each planet should have its own armor set and each week or day the flashpoint should change. the enemies range from legendary difficulty to mythic. depending on the either region or area. for example what if Archer's line drops tier 1 through 3. but the hellmouth drops 4 to 5 and they are mythic difficulty public events too but have them drop pinnacle loot. im just trying to find ways to bring some reason to go back to the destination side of destiny. i miss exploring planets. this portal thing just seems too much like fortnight or ROBLOX to me. its not destiny.

Question What’s your favorite weapon loadout of all time?

What’s your favorite weapon loadout of all time? No worries about champions (assume your equipped weapons will take of them).

For me pre final shape was: witherhord, gnawing hunger and falling guillotine

Post final shape: Khvostov, last call, faith-keeper

Bungie Suggestion please buff chaos reach

my light level is 301 and my super stat is 200

200 super means your super gets a +45% damage increase in PvE

in a 200 light level widow's court and any other 200 light level activity with red-bar majors (colossus, knights, captains, etc) chaos reach is taking their health 3 chunks at a time

for RED BAR ENEMIES while yellow-bars are double that

im basically spending half my super killing majors instead of damaging the boss. i see this as a problem and the damage should be buffed, it doesnt seem right that ive invested so much into my super ability and the damage still sucks despite the +45% boost

if you disagree then let me know as i am open to negotiation and helping me understand why most super abilities do lackluster damage

otherwise im just frustrated that my efforts are leading to close to nothing

Discussion Logged into Destiny and just sat in orbit chatting to my friends instead of playing the game

I logged in last night and I was going to play some Master Frireteam Ops. Then I looked at the modifiers and I thought, 'why bother? ' There was no grenadier or brawler so I knew it was going to be a slogfest.

I played one game of Heavy metal to get some rewards and then I just sat in orbit and chatted to my friends.

I'm 360 light and I've just given up on the power grind. I can't be bothered running Caldera again and I don't feel regret about it either. Lots of people have talked about this and highlighted how pointless most of the game is now and I have to agree. I don't feel any incentive to get higher light and I've ran the same portal activities many many times.

Looks like it's time for a break and I've never taken a break in Destiny since it started.

Discussion I’m finding champions more annoying and less fun mechanic all the time… mostly bc the kits to deal with them feel limiting

Upvotes

I hate having to switch my finely tuned loadout for champions. I like that a minor tweak might work but there’s too few options to do this without totally wrecking a build. It’s rather annoying.

SGA Year of Prophecy ultimate edition is on sale at PS store for $70 instead of $100 until Oct 3rd

just putting it out there in case that makes it worthwhile for anyone to jump in.

thats all the info, below is just my little rant to pile on top of all the others…

honestly I thought I would get it as soon as went on discount but with the state of the game and what they’ve talked about doing so far I‘m not even sure I’ll bother…

I did not pre-order prophecy for the first time since any expansion back to destiny 1. I’ve played only a little this expansion since putting in over 3.5k hours previously and not playing any other games, just mainlined destiny. Now enjoying FF16 and some others.

i was going to get it for the campaign but even the first level and gimmicky ball thing was just way underwhelming.

bungie has converted me from a hardcore player to a bystander, but still a fan. I love destiny and hope they turn things around, will be keeping an eye out

anyway cool story bro etc. and thank you for coming to my ted read.

Question Kepler on Director

Upvotes

So it is looking like it’s a strong possibility we’re going back to Mars for Renegades in December. Does that mean Kepler will finally be added to the director? Or how will we access the activities or run the missions as renegades will take over its spot in the portal presumably

Question How active is Destiny 1 on Xbox?

Upvotes

Used to play D1 on PS4 when it came out, but now I’d like to re experience it again on Xbox. Is it worth it and does anyone know if the player base is active enough to run content with?

Question Can anyone help me change my PC's settings to make it look better than my PS5?

Upvotes

Complete PC noob here as I got it as a gift for my birthday.

I've got an I5-14400F, Rx 9060 XT, 16Gb of ram and a 4K TV. I thought that my PC would make the game look better than my PS5 while also getting great performance. However, anything I try doesn't work and the games keeps looking slightly blurry when compared to my PS5.

Any help would be appreciated

Bungie Suggestion Unacceptable changes being pushed in game. Liminality and other fireteam ops have become a misguided identiy crisis in destiny.

Upvotes

So recently bungie have changed a large number of things in fire team ops. Liminality in gm and other fireteam ops in gm are a burning hellscape.

If you wipe you are getting kicked to orbit. Who ever is in charge is chasing the coat tails of soulsborne games and is killing/purging the player base of anyone that just wants to have fun or a casual experience.

Im at the point where i want to start sending mail/complaints to sony to ask them to restructure bungie and purge senior positions there at bungie. I have not heard anyone saying they wanted any of these changes or this ungodly and extreme upgrade to difficulty.

Ya there are dam good players in this game. However destiny is mostly casual players. Ruining the casual spaces is purposefully trying to kill the game. If you dont want to make destiny anymore please gtfo and go to a different company. The game can not sustain itself on the hardcore players alone both community wise nor financially.

There isnt enough of us left for that.

Question Daily/Weekly Stuff To Do?

Hello everyone!

I'm returning after a long absence, and I've found the game has a ton of Daily/Weekly objectives to play for. Whether that's Bounties from the various planets, Daily/Weekly Seasonal Hub stuff, the Seasonal Triumphs...etc. I was just wondering if anyone had a guide for or list to all of the Daily/Weekly content that I might want to check out when I hop on to play.

Discussion I’ve just reached 400, and I cannot even run a matchmade Inverted Spire right now.

What happened to this game?

I attempted to run Fireteam Ops as I had the past several weeks, but after hitting the 400s milestone, everything sucks.

I attempted to run The Inverted Spire with Matchmaking, and the team wiped to orbit nearly have a dozen times within the first two portals.

This, for me, was supposed to be the feeling of firing up the strike playlist and I’m being beaten like it’s a new raid on LFG.

No coms, people just leaving as soon as it starts, getting stunlocked by detainment/slow/etc.

There’s no fun here. I supposed I need to take a break…

Discussion Tommy's matchbook is a joke in pvp

Upvotes

As someone who has put down 3000 kills on mine in pvp I can say with confidence that the ghost bullets this thing shoots when the perk is activated makes it worse. When ignition trigger is activated it does too much damage for the game to recognise it feels like so most bullets that land will not even register or you will die by the same enemy because the supposedly "0.5 ttk" is too fast so the opponent wont even die in the right time frame. I really want to like the space tommy gun but it just feels terrible
