SGA Year of Prophecy ultimate edition is on sale at PS store for $70 instead of $100 until Oct 3rd

just putting it out there in case that makes it worthwhile for anyone to jump in.

thats all the info, below is just my little rant to pile on top of all the others…

honestly I thought I would get it as soon as went on discount but with the state of the game and what they’ve talked about doing so far I‘m not even sure I’ll bother…

I did not pre-order prophecy for the first time since any expansion back to destiny 1. I’ve played only a little this expansion since putting in over 3.5k hours previously and not playing any other games, just mainlined destiny. Now enjoying FF16 and some others.

i was going to get it for the campaign but even the first level and gimmicky ball thing was just way underwhelming.

bungie has converted me from a hardcore player to a bystander, but still a fan. I love destiny and hope they turn things around, will be keeping an eye out

anyway cool story bro etc. and thank you for coming to my ted read.

I’m just going to wait because they will give away the expansions on ps plus eventually

It also means that previous rewards passes could be free as well. As long as you complete it as a ftp:

No, they won't be. With Ash & Iron you can buy them for 600 Silver on the Monument for Lost Lights. You are also able to buy single items with a new currency you can earn named Chronologs.

Will the PS+ be ultimate edition/year of prophecy, or will it end up Edge of Fate, which might not have a season pass tied to it (activating the current one instead)? Worth considering.

It won't be the ultimate edition they just give the expansion itself and even if they did give the ultimate edition it would be incomplete because of all the reward passes that would have already ended

I don’t really care for seasonally content. I just honestly play for the campaigns

1

u/DrkrZen 1d ago

Either way, as long as you're spending less on D2 content, you're going to come out ahead.

I’m going to wait until the end of the year when Edge of Fate and Renegades are both dirt cheap, play through the story, dungeons, get a few exotics and skip the grind nightmare entirely.

Power level grind will be significantly better come this upcoming Tuesday.

2

u/PM_UR_PROBLEMS_GIRL 1d ago

Its still pointless even if its less terrible

Grinding for what exactly? Temporarily boosted gear to... grind more of the same content

3

u/dadofwar93 1d ago

Exactly. There is zero point in grinding. Yeah cool, you get T5 armor and weapons but the difference between T3 and T5 is so small that you don't need them.

I'd rather just take $70 out of bank account and piss on it then give it to Bungie after these last few updates

You get better satisfaction with buying, just to name a few, with $70 the equivalent of:

- a collectibles Gunpla/Bandai model

- base starter decks and/or boosters of your TCG of choosing

- A mechanical gaming keyboard

- a fancy bottle of whiskey or wine

- apparel of your choosing

- Artbook

- New game (heard Silksong, Exp 33 and Cronos are new and very good)

5

u/xboxcowboy 1d ago

You could buy both silksong + Exp 33 for 70$

2

u/ottothebobcat 1d ago

Huh yeah wow that "Indie Darling 2025 Starter Pack" is actually a pretty fucking solid $70 spend isn't it

3

u/-Sanctum- D2: Reverse Stockholm Shills 1d ago

In my end Exp 33 is for $45 while Silksong is at $10, so I can get both and then get spare money - enough for a large pizza (15$) and 3x beer ($4.75)

u/cpaul91 1d ago

Ima poop on my $70 before giving it to them

9

u/0rganicMach1ne 1d ago

Still too much.

u/WebHead1287 1d ago

60-70% off is my buy in just to play the story and leave.

First Destiny expansion ive skipped since the first game and dont feel im missing much.

28

u/theroadbeyond 1d ago

I bought the first campaign. The game just isn't worth it anymore.

12

u/Jatmahl 1d ago edited 1d ago

Still not worth $70... That's $95+ CAD for me.

13

u/epitat 1d ago

I pre ordered the ultimate expansion, I still did not finish the campaign

7

u/Jawlessrose 1d ago

To be fair. I personally did enjoy "the egde of fate". I liked the campaign, fully upgraded matterspark is kinda fun (if a bit overused to hell and back), graviton spike is really good, Kepler had a bunch of side stuff to do (we dont talk about mythic). $40 isn't too bad for the expansion i think...everything else and the state of the grind tho...

u/VigorCheck 1d ago

Campaign was great for me. A lot of buffs at the beginning of the season were great. Wishful Ignorance, Starfire, Raspberry, Young Ahamkara’s, and Kephri’s all got cool buffs.

Leveling and weapon sandbox is shit. State of raids and dungeons is shit. Trials was good for me because I lucked into a 7 streak, but it’s shit for most people.

Onboarding is probably pretty shit. Have had a couple friends ask me about playing the game and I can’t in good conscience even recommend it right now. Would love to actually have friends who play this game again.

2

u/MeateaW 1d ago

Yep, this is me.

Ground out 300 and bouncing for something actually fun.

1

u/dadofwar93 1d ago

The story itself is great but I was sick of matterspark by the end of the campaign. Especially after that last boss fight. That whole section was just stupid. One misstep and you are back to zero.

I dread playing all that crap again on my Warlock and Hunter.

u/vankamme 1d ago

I’ve done 1.5 story missions. I’ve spent more time in destiny rising in a day (no money spent) than the whole d2 “expansion”

1

u/MyBankk 1d ago

Can I ask why? I get the campaign wasn’t outstanding but it was still quite decent imo, especially for Destiny’s standards. Giving up on the entire campaign after 1.5 missions (like less than an hour) seems like such a knee-jerk reaction to me.

1

u/vankamme 14h ago

I couldn’t stand the Kepler abilities. I don’t find them fun at all

-1

u/Jealous_Platypus1111 1d ago

yeah like EoF arguably has better writing than TFS and i will stand on that hill

4

u/Sharp-Reference-3196 1d ago

I actually liked the campaign mechanics were goofy at times but the pacing and the story felt solid

15

u/KrispyBudder 1d ago

Oh my gosh! Caldera is $30 cheaper

12

u/Airsickjester 1d ago

Caldera is free. Just shows how little content Bungie offered with this paid expansion :/

1

u/slliw Orbs for days 1d ago

Yeah when the game expansion first came out and people were talking about Caldera solo ops I didn’t even bother trying to run it as I assumed it would be locked out as part of the paid expansion.

-2

u/KrispyBudder 1d ago

Its a joke

1

u/DrkrZen 1d ago

Think you're confused about what a joke entails, lol.

-2

u/KrispyBudder 1d ago

eh. I guess it was more of sarcasm. I found it funny so I don't care.

u/bald_bearded_ocddude 1d ago

I don't want to support bungies poor decisions by buying this on sale. Even if it drops to $10!

Vote with your wallet!

9

u/prawnk1ng Books for the Titans. Too heavy 1d ago

No thanks.

3

u/slliw Orbs for days 1d ago

It was on Xbox the other day for £64 ish. I left it and by the time I went to buy it the next day had gone back to £89

8

u/Dotnumb 1d ago

Still a ripoff.

5

u/yesitsmework 1d ago

Going by recent history, in about 6-7 months the game will probably be available for free with ps plus. Take that as you will.

2

u/Ill-Quail-1986 1d ago

That version doesn't appear on sale for me I just checked today, the one that's on sale for me is just the two expansions alone for 60 instead of 80... Wow 😂 🤷🤦

3

u/sandwhich_sensei 1d ago

And still isn't worth it with the awful changes they've made to the game

3

u/Alhazreddit 1d ago

Borderlands comes out Tuesday

3

u/MuuToo 1d ago

Ain't nobody buying that chief.

2

u/daxtillionMurphel Crayon Eater :3 1d ago

It’s not worth. I bought it, played through the campaign and got the exotics and just ended up refunding. Hate to say it but bungie just doesn’t deserve that type of money right now

2

u/Frrai 1d ago

Not recommended. i bought year of profecy because the friend I play with got it, thinking I already had it. Otherwise I would have skipped it, and now after completing the story I regret buying it.

2

u/TubbyTacoSlap 1d ago

Still about $50 overpriced.

1

u/Lt_CowboyDan 1d ago

Awh fuck I just upgraded yesterday in prep for the new season pass

2

u/ViriditasBiologia 1d ago

Imagine thinking Destiny is a good investment right now... deserved.

1

u/henryauron 1d ago

Commiseration’s on buying a bungie product

2

u/darioblaze 1d ago

OR You could save yaself some money, or buy higher quality groceries.

1

u/henryauron 1d ago

Please people. Whatever you do - please do not spend your hard earned cash on this game. It is truly a dull, grindy dumpster fire that the devs spend time brainstorming the most boring and mundane systems to keep you wasting all your time because their content is copy paste and almost non existent

1

u/DrkrZen 1d ago

Still asking too much, lol. That, and between already preordering Borderlands 4, the king of looter shooters, and enjoying a Destiny game made by a competent developer, with Riding, I'm doing just fine.

1

u/Minamike98 1d ago

Don’t do it people

0

u/chucky6661 1d ago

I must remember to tell my friends to rush and buy it

1

u/Edit-The-SadParts 1d ago

Pay me $70 for a virtual lightsaber

1

u/-Sanctum- D2: Reverse Stockholm Shills 1d ago

$70? Not enough, and not worth it.

1

u/LeijuvaFlatus 1d ago

Wake me up at 7 bucks.

0

u/FFaFFaNN 1d ago

No one cares....Game is dead for many of us cuz of stupid design choices made in EoF.I cant grind for power to get good loot. Also k paid money for dungeons keys and expansions that were sunsetting in our face 2.0

-1

u/sundalius Bungie's Strongest Soldier 1d ago

Literally half the comments being about how much they aren’t buying the game because you took a moment to tell people it’s on sale is a great symbol of how fucking useless this subreddit is. Thanks, OP, for posting this.

u/ninjablaze 1d ago

SGA for anyone thinking about buying it on sale:

Since it lasts until Oct 3rd, wait until next week when the old Rewards Pass changes and the new one gets added. The Ultimate Edition comes with 3x reward passes. Don't waste one of them on one that's leaving in a few days.

1

u/lenyek_penyek 1d ago

The first reward pass already included with base edge of fate expansion.

X3 extra reward pass mentioned there are for the next 3 seasons in year of prophecy

1

u/ninjablaze 16h ago

Right. I'm saying if you buy it now you're getting a rewards pass that expires in 24 hours. If you wait a day you'd get the same total number of rewards passes, but one of them won't be "wasted"

0

u/sin2635 1d ago

Nahh I’ll pass. Thanks tho.

0

u/Cesar_21411 16h ago

I’ll probably wait till EoF ends to purchase the DLC I hope they keep the Ultimate Edition for the Star Wars Ornaments available.

-1

u/kingjoe246 23h ago

I got the ultimate edition for $40 and still regret it

-1

u/OmegaClifton 22h ago

Not worth it. With how they've set the power grind up, the later you wait, the more you're wasting your time. The campaign or edge of fate is good, but I think maybe it's worth $20 to $30 alone tops.

-1

u/mowinski 21h ago

Still too expensive for this clusterfuck.

-1

u/Capital-Gift73 20h ago

Its going to be free on psplus eventually so just don't give them anything.

-1

u/ELPintoLoco 19h ago

I'd rather spend that money on Destiny Rising, or just buy Borderlands 4.
