Question Can someone explain to me how there are multiple hive with ghosts? Spoiler

I understand savathun or however you spell it, as she dies and traveller bestows the light on her corpse

But what about all other hive, did she pass down light, or did other hive do the same

Did you play the wq campaign? Cuz its spelled out pretty early on, ghosts just decided to start reviving hive after having not revived a human after searching for centuries, also savathun wasn't revived directly by the traveller exactly, imaru her ghost just found her.

I have been away from destiny for a long time since the traveler healed itself. Money has not been great for me lately so I don’t even have the expansions

Came back to the game recently and was lost. So watched the 10hour lore video on YouTube to get me somewhat to understand it.

In a nutshell while we deal the darkness she siphons some of the travellers light into her own throne world so she can take desd ghosts, corrupt them and then send them out to revive fellow hive into guardian hive

I don't think so. Savathun wanted to live a long life, and Sword logic and Witness were obstacles to her. So Savathun secretly remained loyal to the Traveler for many years, gave up the darkness and died, and Imaru gave her the Light. The Hive has a system in place where excess Light is donated to its superiors to prevent starvation through overeating. Savathun's Light reversed this route and turned her subordinates into Lucent Hives. So Savathun didn't steal the Light, the Traveler chose her.

If you're interested and on PC, I think the Humble Bundle has all expansions included right now. It was mentioned in the last TWID, so maybe have a look there.

The comment you're replying to is RADICALLY incorrect. Savathun didn't siphon energy from the Traveler, she didn't raise dead Ghosts, and she didn't corrupt them either.

The actual lore:

There were still a TON of Ghosts floating around out there who didn't have Guardians. Some questioned whether or not Humanity was strong enough to protect the Traveler. The Guardian tenets are "Devotion leads to Bravery, Bravery leads to Sacrifice, and Sacrifice leads to Death," and Savathun showed the Traveler all of these things.

She was devoted to the Traveler, following it relentlessly across the centuries. She was brave, taking bold risks to betray the Witness and keep it from reaching its goals, protecting the Traveler in doing so. And she sacrificed her power with the Darkness by severing her connection to her Worm, ultimately resulting in her death before the Traveler.

A Ghost, named Immaru, found her, saw those traits when it scanned her, and deemed her worthy of being resurrected as a Lightbearer to defend the Traveler.

Following Immaru's example and Savathun's call, many of the unconnected Ghosts (that I mentioned earlier) followed her and sifted through the dead Hive, raising some of them as Lightbearers who were loyal to Savathun.

Those Ghosts believe that the Hive are strong enough to protect the Traveler! And some of these Hive DO act to serve the Traveler! During the Final Shape campaign, when the time came to fight the Witness, Savathun and her Lucent Hive fought by our side to save the Traveler. But they believe in a different way of protecting the Traveler than we do, and they have their own plans in that regard, so the Lucent Brood is still fighting us now that the greater threat of the Witness has been dealt with.

Basically a lot of ghost hadn’t found their desired guardian. After Immaru, a ghost known for being a massive bully to other ghost’s, revived Savathun. He “convinced” a lot of other ghost to pick a hive instead. It probably helped that the hive originally were supposed to be blessed by the Traveler, tho this probably only affected any ghosts that chose a hive after the events of Witch Queen.

That should be a basic summary, of what I remember. I’m sure there’s plenty more details.

Because early on, the Hive was a race chosen by the Traveler to be blessed by the light, but before he arrived on their planet, the Witness tricked them in choosing to acceppt the Worms, so they became beings of darkness, after Savathun sacrificed herself by getting rid of her worm, she became "worthy" again and all the hive beneath her became so aswell, because they too probably lost their worms.

A bunch of ghosts were bored of not finding their human guardian so they went and resurrected the first hive they found. They also had a weird hate relationship with the rest of the vanguard ghosts

TLDR: The Traveler gave Savathun the light.

That part I knew, I was trying to understand why other hive got it too

Just Savathun and her subjects, not all the hive is my understanding

??? Old Hive we killed from various broods have been resurrected. Ecthar for example is one of Orxy’s most trusted Knights. Alak-hul became the Lightblade after also being Oryx’s brood. The Wizard boss of Ghosts of the Deep is one of Nokris’ brood resurrected.

In short, it appears to apply to all hive. If the Hidden Dossier, WQ’s collector edition lore book can be read as setting up the reveal, it appears the Traveler permits the Hive to be resurrected because, regardless of their morality, it cannot stomach another species going extinct, so the Hive get Lightbearers to break the curse of their worms.

It’s true that older hive have been resurrected, but they’ve all been brought into the fold of Savathun’s brood, haven’t they?

3

u/HazardousSkald 1d ago

Well yes but that’s more of an indoctrination thing. The Ghosts are working for Savathun and so the Ghosts and her brood teach the Hive Lightbearers all they know. It’s not like only those Savathun-loyal or in her brood are available for resurrection, it’s that all those so far who have been resurrected get raised right into her clutches and groomed into servitude.

Alak-Hul getting the light shows that it's not just Savathun's Hive that got it.
