Question What are you hoping we get in the Renegades reveal tomorrow?
I know there’s going to be a lot of sarcastic comments with the way the game is right now, but genuinely curious what the community wants to see.

Something to wow us. This is supposed to be a continuation of the story on Kepler so hopefully they set something up that’ll get everyone curious about the world of Destiny again.

Cool new gun archetypes, hopefully playing into stuff that the crossover could provide (laser blasters, faux-lightsabers, etc)
New aspects for the classes that need them
maybe a dungeon preview, but probably too early for that
Story details
That's what I'm realistically expecting from the stream, seems about inline with what expansion detail streams gave us

Laser side arms, with a charged disorienting/blinding ‘stun shots’
Pulse shotguns like tractor cannon
Rocket propelled shotgun as a heavy
Fan Fire hand cannons
Lightsaber can be special ammo slot swords, and maybe instead of guarding could get some form of stance for different attacks

It is wild how much the change in format has weakened perception of changes to the game. Before we used to hear the devs speak passionately about the changes they made and talk about the philosophy behind their work. It inspired belief in what they were doing and generated excitement for the final product.
These live streams feel like the devs being paraded out in front of the community to act excited about things that really aren’t all that exciting.
Yes, some of this boils down to the actual game receiving less compelling changes, but there’s also something to be said about how the ViDocs just packaged excitement in a way that was SO much better.

Something that changes feel of the game or refreshes the entirety of the game. Matterspark only affects Kepler. The EoF exotic weapons and armor are kind of meh, save Graviton Spike in PvP. We need something new!
Exotic armor that moves the needle, new aspects or fragments.
And a Star Wars themed PvP map set on the DeathStar (one can dream).

I would LOVE to see us fighting evil guardians. If bungie had some real balls they'd let us fight Dredgens and dark guardians.
They already have the super and light ability animations from Hive Lightbearers. They have the stasis and strand ability animations from the Dread and Dire Taken. Surely they could rig those animations to guardian sized models
3
u/Objective_One_1702 17h ago
This would actually slap!
I always thought they revealed hive guardians too early in the WQ marketing and that it would have made an amazing reveal in the actual campaign. In universe us, our ghost, and the vanguard were all stunned, but as players we knew that was what the DLC was about, so it didn't quite hit for me narratively.
Imagine if there are Dredgens as bosses in this campaign but they don't announce shit about them, just wait until the Internet blows up with hype on day 1 as we encounter them organically and our collective jaws hit the floor!

I hope there are not any actual Star Wars characters. Im cool with gear, locations, and NPCs that are "inspired" by Star Wars, but if it is some "go talk to Yoda to build your lightsaber" then I'm going to be disappointed.

u/SHROOMSKI333 19h ago
they’ve already confirmed the story is 100% destiny, on a place in destiny, and explicitly a story continuation on the edge of fate, so should be fine, i think it’s basically just visuals and vibe that are star warsy

Unless summoning Yoda from another universe is within the Nine's plans, you're safe. Bungie has already confirmed that Renegades will thoroughly be a Destiny story in the Destiny universe, but with some inspiration from Star Wars.

Pray to God that bungie don't reset the light level because they are out of their mind if they are thinking that I'll grind all over again.

I will not be leveling again.

New Darkness supers and a good look at the lightsabers. Lets face it, lightsabers are a major selling point for Renegades. They gotta show them off at least a little bit.

I know I'm dreaming, but I hope this community left the copium aside and wakes up! We are in red numbers, the populationninnthe game is awful, each time is less content. Stop with that bs of "bungie is cooking" or "let them cook" or whatever title aztecross comes with, Bungie are cooking since D1 vanilla, then again dark below came, then d2 vanilla, then curse of osiris, then shadowkeep, then lightfall... then edge of fate. Expectations are low, as I don’t have too much hope right now.
Would be really nice to see new aspects / fragments for classes that are missing them. A lot of these classes are also underperforming, so hopefully something to bring them into the meta (like Storm’s Keep). I doubt this will happen, though.
Some news on Renegades that will get me excited. If it’s “here’s guns you ready have with Star Wars skins”, then I’m going to be pretty disappointed.

Been saying/hoping since EoF didn't have them... New supers and aspects.

Something that makes Renegades seem true to Destiny instead of just being a Star Wars collab.
Vault Space rework.
New abilities for Stasis & Strand and/or more aspects for the light subclasses that didn't get a 4th aspect yet.
More aspects, abilities, and fragments for prismatic.
9
u/willieg3 19h ago
I want something fun. I know people are super negative on the game, and while I feel some of that same sentiment, I'm still optimistic about Destiny and Renegades. The Star Wars inspiration has me intrigued and I am excited to see what they do with that.
Even with as optimistic as I still am, there's no doubt, EoF was a miss. The story was decent, but the gameplay was the worst since D2 launch. The dark matter abilities were just gimmicks that did not make it fun. Keplar is the first major miss for the art team and level design. It's an ugly, bland, boring location. There are no awesome set pieces or engaging areas to explore. The planet looks like a big ball of snot.
I could care less if they are using Star Wars as a gimmick. If the gameplay, story, and set pieces are amazing, I'll be happy.
5
u/DJfunkyPuddle Stand with the Vanguard//The Sentry 18h ago
100% on the Kepler design, the entire place feels like a blurry mess of mauve and chartreuse.
7
u/Number1Candyman 19h ago
Actual content worth the price. EoF was $50 CAD and all it gave us was a new destination, a raid, and a story. Absolutely not worth the price. No strikes, no crucible maps, etc. It's a joke.
A return of endgame activities. In EoF the endgame is literally nonexistent, all you do is farm solo ops to get higher power to get higher tier loot, yet there is ultimately no point because there is no longer an endgame to use that gear in, and it'll be soft sunset by the shitty new gear system anyways. All the RADs are irrelevant, and there is no longer stuff like GMs to do.
Removal of new gear system. I despise everything about this system, it exists for two reasons. To let bungie dictate how we play the game, and to sunset our gear without actually sunsetting it. Remove it.
The return of the real Warlock Identity Warlocks are the grenade class, give that fantasy back to them. When we picked the mage, we expected to cast spells to do AoE fireballs, chain lightning, etc. WE DID NOT SIGN UP TO CREATE BALLS THAT PLAY THE GAME FOR US. Stop shoving this half baked summoner down our throats.
I don't expect even one of these things to happen, and these days I have absolutely no faith in bungie, which is why I've been playing other games.

New subclass preferably, but that’s with massive copium. New abilities at the very least, hopefully new aspects for the darkness subclasses. More specifically I want new stasis melees. The titan one is straight ass, the warlocks is boring as hell.
I just want to be wowed, I know it goes a lot of hate but edge of fate gave us a really good narrative and I hope they follow that up really well. I want another story that’ll leave me saying “damn” at the end

Not necessarily in the reveal but I just want tighter scripting for the story. I dunno, I felt like for the entirety of EoF and it's side missions I was kinda like "What the hell is going on?" and not in a good way. I also need better pathfinding for the objective markers; I felt like I was running in circles way too often to the point that I wasn't enjoying my time spent in the game.

- A reason to raid (i.e. t5 gear for a worthy difficulty)
- A new dungeon (the raid/dungeon schedule was given, but an orange braincell can dream)
- A new strike (why did Kepler not get one?) (and not a reprised strike)
- More content in portal (both fireteam & pinnacle)
- Permanent abilities that aren’t meta-redefining, but are competitive
- replayable full campaigns (i.e. red war, forsaken, etc.)
- Vault overhaul (space and search)
- Crafting return (they are equal to t3 rolls; t5/adept chasing still exists)
- Power delta revision (normal mode should be 0 delta, not -10 or -20. I understand legend and master being -30 to -50.

u/PrestigiousMixture37 17h ago
More vault space and completely reworked way of vault organization by weapon type etc...
All dungeons, raids, exotic missions, activities brought up to new tier system and as a way to power up.
That they are going to make a new dungeon every 3 months along with one new raid with completely new loot pools in every one.
New explorables events like The Nether every few months with new loots pools.
The number one thing I want them to reveal is the acknowledgment that they are focusing all energy on Marathon but that they will be going back to D2 hardcore once it's complete with plans to not under deliver, not over deliver but just deliver in general.
2
2
u/Unhappy_Hair_3626 17h ago
My issue is that I doubt Bungie is going to actually divert course from making the game 99.5% portal activities. The game has so many issues right now, and unfortunately a tons of them are from EoF which while all of them have potential, Bungie has shown the worst possible path forward at every step.
2
u/Exciting_Fisherman12 16h ago
I don’t think there’s anything they’re capable of showing tomorrow that will change the overall sentiment around the game. They have set the game back years in terms of development.
Joe Blackburn had the right idea on how to make Destiny. This just isn’t it and it doesn’t seem like Bungie gets it despite the enormous amount of feedback they’ve received.

I truly think they want to turn destiny into a pay to win format and just try to recoup some costs from whales that will buy up all the MTX.
They literally gutted 90% of the game with this expansion. There is zero reason to do anything outside of then portal. Like it's so fucking stupid I can't believe its anything other than an attempt to try and introduce p2w mtx.
Think about this long stupidly meaningless grind where gear doesnt drop based on difficulty but hours played. "Don't worry! For $10 you can buy prime drops to add as bonus drops to the portal" (and yeah it would be something absurd like that).
There is no possible way they'll have enough time to cook up anything meaningful in renegades. I mean this whole expansion is just rehashed sectors and strikes. We have a new lead there who thinks over delivery is the worst possible thing ever.
Tldr; what I would hope for isnt actually possible under current regime lol.

I really really hope we get more Lodi. He may have been kidnapped by the nine before he got to see Star Wars, but at least he gets to live it now lol.
But also, my hopes are a patrol zone that is in a crime ridden city, and not just barren rocky formations and caves with a Cabal base here and there. I hope they expand on the side quest feature and let us complete bounties and missions for people in the city.
Maybe the introduction of Combat Sparrows in Heavy Metal was the precursor to actual high speed sparrow combat sequences (you know, like star wars lol)
Lastly, new abilities and supers. Im a sucker for more buildcrafting ingredients

Just, more stuff in the portal really. I know they can’t just up and bring all the R&D into the Portal with their own feat system or however dungeons will work, since we’ve yet to see one. But it should’ve shipped with a lot more stuff in every category but crucible. So many exotic missions stuck in the legends tab and so many lost sectors and nightfalls just not here. Also putting leaving some power leveling in the director, mainly R&D, would’ve helped this transition period immensely.

u/krustykranberry 18h ago

Small thing that is feasible and yet I don't expect to happen: more loadout slots. At least 2 more, but personally I'd like to have 20 in game. I think it's wild that Prismatic dropped and opened up so many new builds and we only got two slots.
I know a lot of people only use like 2 slots, but I do genuinely use all of mine, or at least I did pre-EoF when maintaining builds was easier. And idk if it's a console thing, but DIM is sooooooo slow. Like it takes MINUTES to apply a loadout for me. It's fine for storing builds long-term, but not for anything I want to actually use

u/punisuke-0929 17h ago
I’d like to see lots of NEW stuff not reprised or recycled. I couldn’t believe there was no single new strike for EoF. No new fragment, no new super, new PvP map either.
1
u/Saint_Victorious 17h ago
They literally said that EoF was supposed to lay the groundwork for the new systems and Renegades is to bring people back to Destiny. So it needs to be above their A-game in order to accomplish that.
They'd need to go full in on new abilities. New Aspects for the Light subs that need them, new supers, new melees, and new grenades for the Darkness subs. This coupled with some SW inspired, but distinctly Destiny exotics need to be at the forefront.

Solar hunter still needs help and on the mark isn't going to move the needle. Reversion of some of the GG nerfs.
Void hunter, tether sucks as is and Infinite invis isn't strong
Strand warlock, threadlings buff if you're going to push them so damn hard.

In addition, they need to show that a LOT of rewarding content is coming to the Portal, and that Destiny isn’t just going to be Grind: The Game! Got a gin with great perks but it's tier 1? Fret not. Just dump this big pile of resources into it and you can get it to, I dunno, tier 2, tier 3.
Kind of like how we used to be able to improve solstice armour.

Not expecting anything new but disappointments. It's been whole years since anything was added to the darkness supers. I would be shocked if they added a new melee for anything.

Any new ability stuff. Criminal that we got nothing ability-wise with EOF and it’s what I think is the biggest miss.
I’m hoping it’s because they are cooking something big.

Pretty much everything available via portal or the similar option to select via director, with relevant activity loot pools updated to tiered system, power level grind cut in half or more, new abilities and supers for light/dark subclasses, more weapons, more armour...
I doubt we will get most of that :)
I didn't care for the EoF campaign at all so I have no reason to really care about what story they're going to pull next. Hopefully it will have more than one or two fun missions and maybe, just maybe, some new bosses (I love fighting D1 strike bosses 10 years later in my paid expansion).

New abilities, whether it's the last 3 light aspects or something for stasis or strand. Overhauls/reworks would be nice along side that.
