Question Is the Exotic Khvostov 7G-0X still able to be acquired now?

0 Upvotes

I had nearly completed, or might have completed way back when Final Shape campaign dropped - but then I took a long break from Destiny 2. I'm just trying to see if I can get all those exotic lost ends tied up - i.e: whatchamacallit from Sundered Doctrine - awesome dungeon. The two raids I missed and the other dungeon 😅🤔

Question Can anyone help me change my PC's settings to make it look better than my PS5?

0 Upvotes

Complete PC noob here as I got it as a gift for my birthday.

I've got an I5-14400F, Rx 9060 XT, 16Gb of ram and a 4K TV. I thought that my PC would make the game look better than my PS5 while also getting great performance. However, anything I try doesn't work and the games keeps looking slightly blurry when compared to my PS5.

Any help would be appreciated

Discussion Forced modifiers in Solo Ops and Fireteam Ops.....some of them need to go

0 Upvotes

I'm not sure why Bungie forces modifiers in these activities, at least ones where when you slide you get a freezing stasis wave. That sounds good on the surface but that kinda cockblocks some builds.

I was glad when they stopped using the modifier forcing the grapple grenade. Yesterday they had a modifiers in Fireteam Ops that reduced guardian damage, 50% bonus void damage to Guardians, AND it was already a -40 Delta. It felt like a -60 delta lol

Discussion The inherent problem with the tier system - from a 450

0 Upvotes

I've been 450 for about a month or so - so I've been able to see what a large majority of the player base has not - and I'm here to offer the ones who haven't gotten there a preview of what's to come.

1) You will run out of space in your vault. Quickly. If you haven't already. If you want a copy of each stat variation of armor - it will take 360 slots (120 per character). And that's just for one family of armor sets (techsec, etc).

2) God rolls are easy to come by. And it kills the drive. Big time.

In the past, chasing a god roll felt like this huge, rare achievement. It was kind of the big goal that kept you grinding. Then they brought in systems where you could basically guarantee yourself a top-tier weapon after turning in a handful of red borders. And, well, that kind of made those once-coveted rolls feel a bit too common. It took away that long-term drive to keep playing just to get that perfect drop.

Now it feels like we’re in this weird middle ground. Sure, you can get a pretty great roll without too much hassle, and that’s nice for more casual players. But once everyone can hit tier five and basically snag a god roll pretty quickly, the real incentive to keep grinding fades out. It’s halfway through the season, and suddenly the chase is gone. Because when everything is special, nothing is. It reminds me a lot more of vanilla Destiny.

What I’d really love to see is a system where you can get solid rewards without too much stress—so casual players aren’t left behind—but still keep those absolute best-in-slot god rolls a bit more elusive. That way, people who want to grind for that truly perfect roll still have that goal to chase after, and it keeps the game engaging for everyone.

I think that's what T5 was meant to be, but the current execution is poor. I think they should keep T5 rare. But let T4s still be great.

Caveat: there are a multitude of issues in the game i.e. the boring, uninspired, and isolating portal experience, lack of content, unrewarding raid loot, etc

This is just a post highlighting what you will experience in the coming months, as we head to renegades.

I know there will likely be a lot of backlash to this post - I am not trying to gatekeeper casual players. I am just highlighting the next overarching problem that's yet to appear for the majority of the playerbase.

Discussion I feel like D2 returned to the state after Beyond light. And I can't help but see a bright future ahead.

0 Upvotes

Warning: Huge amounts of copium ahead.

Aw Shit, here we go again. Once again the game is suffering under some idiotic decision to change how everything works, which ended up turning off a lot of players while making the game shallow and unimaginative.

It's been 2 months since EOF and players got burned out of portal, weapon and armor tiers and the grueling power grind. But those are the same kind of players that got mad after sunset and burned put due to stasis breaking everything.

Destiny is a cyclical game, and we are starting a new one, there wouldn't have been a banger like witch queen without beyond light, same as with final shape and lightfall.

I can't prove it, but this cyclical nature feels like a deliberate choice by Bungie as a whole. They are masters on doing shit, repairing it, then making it gold, just to shit everything else again.

So yeah, I'm coping hard, but I see a good future ahead, at least this time, the story is an absolute banger, so I can rest easy that once the portal and grind are ironed out, we will have another wave of praise, followed by another wave of piss, and so on.

Tl:dr - Destiny is an endless cycle of shit and gold, and we are in the shit era once again.

Guide How Much Better is the New 500 --> 550 Power Grind? (significantly)

215 Upvotes

How Much Better is the new 500 --> 550 Power Grind?

In the most recent TWID, Bungie stated that every A/A+ tier completion will guarantee a +1 gear from 500 to 550, this will also take into effect in Renegades from 400 to 450.

To visualise and compare it to the current grind, I will simulate this power grind 10,000 times (I will assume that guardian rank is not high and Powerful drop rate is ~5%.)

*Jump straight to the end for the conclusion

GRAPHS - https://imgur.com/a/QFlzgyC

The Simulations

- 1st simulation (current)--> guaranteed +0 and ~5% chance at +3
- 2nd simulation (upcoming) --> guaranteed +0 and guaranteed +1
- 3rd simulation (potentially upcoming) --> guaranteed +0, guaranteed +1 and ~5% chance at +3

\3rd simulation because I don't know whether or not there is still a ~5% chance at a +3 in the new grind*

Simulation 1 (Current)

Number of activity completions from 500 --> 550 across 10,000 runs**:**

Mode (most frequently occurring) = ~2,031 completions
Average = ~2,159 completions
Average per +1 power level increase = ~37 completions

Simulation 2 (Upcoming)

Number of activity completions from 500 --> 550 across 10,000 runs**:**

Mode = ~1071 completions
Average = ~1087 completions
Average per +1 power level increase = ~22 completions

Simulation 3 (Potentially Upcoming)

Number of activity completions from 500 --> 550 across 10,000 runs**:**

Mode = ~583 completions
Average = ~595 completions
**Average per +1 power level increase = ~**12 completions

Comparison

Assuming the +1 guaranteed will replace the ~5% chance at +3:

- ~49.6% faster to get from 500 --> 550
- ~41.4% fewer activities to raise power level by 1

Assuming the +1 guaranteed is additional to the ~5% chance at +3:

- ~72.4% faster to get from 500 --> 550
- ~68.3% fewer activities to raise power level by 1

TL;DR - Conclusion

The new changes to the higher power grind are significantly better than the current grind, being at least ~50% faster on average to reach 550 from 500 in Ash and Iron, and 450 from 400 in Renegades, and potentially ~70% faster depending on if the ~5% chance at a +3 is removed.

I hope this helps put the new changes into perspective! Any questions are welcome.

Edit - After receiving information that the drop rate for primes is more like 7.5-8% rather than 5, this accounts for ~35% faster on average. This post is a mathematical approach using a monte-carlo simulation so in reality the results will vary, however besides the specific numbers, it does show the new grind will be a good amount faster so I will leave it as such.

For those interested in how these simulations work:

It's called a monte-carlo simulation. Essentially it's a python program that simulates a guardian with 8 item slots all at 500 power how someone playing the game might actually experience it.

After an "activity completion" it is given a +1 item and a +0 item based off the average power (and rounding down like in game, for example a power of 531.9 is still considered 531) that can drop in any of the 8 slots randomly.

It repeats this loop until all 8 slots are filled with 550 gear. This whole process takes a fraction of a second, so to get an accurate average, it completes this process 10,000 times in around 10-12 seconds to simulate 10,000 guardians completing the grind.

It then outputs the average number of loops to get to 550 and more importantly the mode, which is the most frequently occurring number of activity completions needed.

It also outputs the highest and lowest number of completions witnessed in the simulations, for example, the current grind saw ~2,159 completions on average to reach 550, however one guardian only took 1,299 completions, and another for a massive 3,716 completions.

Discussion Why can't we use old artefacts?

0 Upvotes

Artefacts have their own inventory slot, and if you hover over them, they have inventory spaces like weapons do, suggesting they are coded as equippable items, which is also supported by the fact that upon getting a new seasonal artefact, you do have to equip it.

I think an easy way to patch holes in build crafting would be to allow players to use old artefacts they have collected, and switch them out based on their build and it's requirements, much like in Rise of Iron

What do you think?

Discussion so what if we had "weapon supers"

after playing drising it got me thinking. what if we had a group of exotics that when equipped becomes your new super. like wolf and his/her sword? would be a pretty decent concept.

Bungie Suggestion Unacceptable changes being pushed in game. Liminality and other fireteam ops have become a misguided identiy crisis in destiny.

0 Upvotes

So recently bungie have changed a large number of things in fire team ops. Liminality in gm and other fireteam ops in gm are a burning hellscape.

If you wipe you are getting kicked to orbit. Who ever is in charge is chasing the coat tails of soulsborne games and is killing/purging the player base of anyone that just wants to have fun or a casual experience.

Im at the point where i want to start sending mail/complaints to sony to ask them to restructure bungie and purge senior positions there at bungie. I have not heard anyone saying they wanted any of these changes or this ungodly and extreme upgrade to difficulty.

Ya there are dam good players in this game. However destiny is mostly casual players. Ruining the casual spaces is purposefully trying to kill the game. If you dont want to make destiny anymore please gtfo and go to a different company. The game can not sustain itself on the hardcore players alone both community wise nor financially.

There isnt enough of us left for that.

Plus extinguish should never be put in the casual areas of destiny unless it is specific missions like a nightfall.

In trying to enjoy my time off not screw around and waste time on ultra difficult bs on all the dam portal missions. Im trying to roll gear not this bs.

Not every dam mission needs to feel like a raid or nightfall. If i wanted to play those id go there

Discussion I don't want to wait 4+ years for my favorite Raid / Dungeon to be updated

1.1k Upvotes

Title. We had to wait several years for VoG getting updated just for it being soft-sunset the next season. We are getting a slice of 3 Dungeons that should've been updated at this point but somehow will drop the current outdated weapons and armors by placing a modifier into it, and that is kinda lame in my opinion.

I don't think many of us would make it to the time were Salvation's Edge or Sundered Doctrine get updated.

Question Best non sniper boss DPS special ammo exotics in energy slot?

13 Upvotes

I’m not sure what to do with this. I have cold steel on my heavy sword to deal with champions, and I’m using a tremors and orb making bow with techset 4x bonus for extra explosions- I pair it with Titan chest that gives healing behind barricades for kills…. Tryna fill that remaining slot with som boss DPS…

Guide This very fun hunter build will be even better next week

38 Upvotes

dim link: https://dim.gg/d2ud47a/Prismatic

With the announced changes to cyrtarachne, I figured I’d get ahead of the game and post one my favorite builds I’ve been using in eof that is very fun and endgame viable, since it will be getting even better next week.

What’s funny is this build originally started as a Moirai build, but the playstyle didn’t really fit the exotic, and it didn’t have high as much survivability as I was hoping, hence the swap. Conveniently, cyrtarachne is also featured gear, and now it’s also getting a buff!

The premise of the build is to spam grapple melee as much as possible (creative, I know). Obviously this isn’t the highest damage grapple grenade build out there, but it still has great damage, virtually unlimited grapple uptime, and great survivability.

*Exotic armor: *

Cyrtarachne’s facade

Subclass setup:

Strand

Gamblers dodge - more melee, more better

Grapple grenade - it works with cyrtarachne

Widows silk - activate woven mail more often

Whirling maelstrom - crowd control and generating more grenade energy

Thread of ascent - reloads weapons

Thread of propagation - more unravel, anti-barrier

Thread of generation - works well with whirling maelstrom to farm grenade energy

Thread of binding - extra crowd control while supering

(you DO NOT need thread of warding since you are getting woven mail from activating your grenade, and it is only 5 seconds anyway)

*Stats: *

I run 60 health, 60 melee, 150 grenade, 90 super, 95 class, and 38 weapons. 150 grenade is really the only thing that matters though.

60 health helps with survivability on orb pickup (and there will be a LOT of orbs)

60 melee should fully refund the remainder of your threaded spike since you get energy back on damage and for catching it

150 grenade for bonus damage (and the other 50 points will be made up for with weapon/ armor perks)

High super stat (70+) lets you spam silkstroke

High class stat (70+) lets you get your severing melee back sooner, and collect orbs with powerful attraction (oops spoilers)

Weapons is my dump stat

*Weapons: *

Really the only weapon that matters is festival flight with blast distributor and attrition orbs. Blast distributor to round grenade stat out to 200 at 5 stacks, attrition orbs for health and siphon mods. The best weapon mod to use is temporal blast for more damage or abundant ammo for more ammo gen (not really needed though). Depending on how much health cyrtarachne gives on kill next season, attrition orbs could be swapped with one for all.

The other slots are up to you, but I use yeartide apex (attrition orbs/ chaos reshaped) since it also has decent ammo gen, and finality’s auger (or whatever is best for the activity). Use whatever has the proper anti-champ mods for the activity.

*Armor mods: *

Helmet - special ammo finder, harmonic siphon, another siphon for your other element

Arms - I run triple heavy handed for orbs on every grapple melee kill. You can use grenade fonts if you don’t have blast distributor on festival flight

Chest - resists as needed. You can use a strand ammo gen mod, but I don’t think it’s necessary

Legs - recuperation for more health on orb, insulation for even faster dodge cooldown, weapon surge of choice (strand is best for festival flight)

Cloak - reaper for more orbs (can never have too many), powerful attraction to collect said orbs, time dilation

*Gameplay loop: *

You will primarily be using festival flight in this build. Treat it like a primary. Shoot festival flight to build up blast distributor, grapple melee into enemies to activate woven mail, thread of ascent reloads festival flight, repeat. Thread of ascent does have a cooldown, but widows silk helps with this by allowing you to continue dealing damage with your grapple melee via the grapple point until the cooldown is over. Sever enemies with threaded spike and dodge to collect orbs as needed.

*Other things worth noting: *

Thread of ascent lets you not need demolitionist on festival flight for a reload, and you don’t need the grenade energy from demolitionist anyway. There also aren’t many other very good relevant strand fragments anyway. It helps the build flow really well

Although the artifact has good perks for this build, I won’t bother going through them since they won’t be around next season when cyrtarachne gets buffed. And I assume that if you’ve read this far, you probably play the game enough to know which ones would pair well with the build.

I’d love to hear what you think of it. Let me know if you experiment with it at all, and what you change.

Bungie Suggestion Add Deepsight Harmonizers to the event reward shops please. It would be a nice boon to newer players who missed out on older seasons.

82 Upvotes

While these aren't as useful as they used to be, they are still very important for getting old craftable weapons. I think getting them from event reward shops is an easy way to still have a method of getting them, without them clogging up inventories. I am aware that Xur can still sell them from time to time, but that is far too infrequent.

Question Why do Consecration kills not count as ability kills in Solo Ops?

83 Upvotes

I have no choice but to back out when this modifier comes up. Grenades do no kill enemies fast enough, unless I get a few stupid Vex who stumble inside the solar grenade and burn, giving me a whopping 1 or 2 kills.

I invested into melee and Consecration kills do not count towards ability kills. Sometimes I kill 9 enemies with one slam and not one counts...

My super doesn't come up till the boss fight and even then, getting 20 kills in some boss rooms is wishful thinking.

Bungie Suggestion Arms Day should be the Antithesis to Heavy Metal

23 Upvotes

Where, so far, they've shared a weapon set, every time one comes out for a week,the other should follow a week later. It'd make sense on multiple fronts.

Being only a week long event, it'd give players a second chance, via different event, to farm for featured weapons, those not into/good at PvE would have a PvP option, and vice versa, and, finally, it'd fill in each month a bit more, still leaving half of it open for 2 weeks for brand new (lol) events.

Heck, the events don't even have to be new. Just have activities that reward things. I know SRL has only been featured 6 weeks, across 2015 and 2016, amongst the 10 years Destiny has been going, but that's an option (NetEase saw that).

Just an idea. I like rewards with multiple paths for various players' interests.

Question Returning Player Questions

0 Upvotes

Hey, I'm coming back to the game after about a year. I finished final shape and Echoes didn't really interest me, so I kind of moved on. Now, coming back, theres a lot of changes, and I'm trying to youtube tutorial myself back into the game. I haven't bought edge of fate yet, because I was wondering if bungie still gives you the current season/reward pass for free when buying the expansion. Is this still a thing? If so, I think I'll wait a few days until ash and iron comes out to buy it. Also, any tips for navigating the portal, and general returning player advice would be greatly appreciated!

Bungie Suggestion Tanks have to fight brigs AND movement. If you are going to force us to use Tanks against Brigs, the least you can do is stop the tanks from automatically turning in the direction we are aiming

284 Upvotes

Tank players actively have to fight movement as well. It's counterintuitive. Tank turns 180, suddenly everything is reversed. You can't just peak in and out of corners like with brigs as the whole damn vehicle wants to just turn on its own. This is hands down the biggest issue with Heavy metal, not counting in the lack of new maps and the fact that it gets boring after 2 matches. The tank turning in the direction we are aiming really throws the gameplay off. It's disorienting and it's simply not fun. You know what would be fun? Brigs vs Brigs. This event is half baked as hell and I hope Bungie puts actual effort into it next time.

Question Best way to find people for conquests?

I've tried fireteam finder over and over again, but no one wants to either stick around for the conquest OR leaves after I ask to switch to current gear (I mentioned it in the FF posting but whatever) does anyone have any advice to finding people for conquests? I just need to raise my guardian rank so I can get better gear.

Discussion My wishlist for Destiny to be good again

-Bring back farmable GMs with adept loot. Can't imagine what reason was good enough for removing this activity that has defined most players' seasonal routine for years.

-Bring back crafting, or something similar, for at least some of the new weapons. I don't know a single person that hated crafting. My biggest gripe with the new raid, which I do like, is that I can, and have, spent hours completing encounters and not obtained a single piece of loot I was chasing. Crafting gave us agency. I'd be fine with making the pattern requirement higher, but I hate putting in the effort that new raids require and not having any say in my loot chase.

-Make legacy content matter again. This game has ten dungeons and ten raids. For new players who haven't played this content, they represent a literal goldmine. A grand total of two dungeons have had their loot updated since launch. Pit of heresy, a dungeon that I still like to solo because it's fast-paced and not excessively difficult, doesn't even have secret chests that give dungeon-specific loot. The neglect on Bungie's part to incentivize even newer players to go run these objectively fun dungeons is mindboggling. Bungie has spent many of their valuable resources making excellent endgame activities that have been very well-recieved, like vesper's host, duality, and warlord's ruin. Make those activities worth doing again.

-At a very general level, just do ANYTHING to increase the player population. One thing that I think gets very overlooked is how much this game's population suffers when OTHER PLAYERS leave. Probably the single most frustrating thing about raids in general is when you want to do something and cannot find five other people to do it with you. Bungie isn't the only entity that benefits when player population is high. We the players also benefit because we don't have to choose between solo play and waiting 40 minutes to get a group together to run a master challenge in a legacy raid.

-Just take the easy wins, Bungie. Stop nerfing things we love. Give us more opportunities to easily get good loot (like solstice). Give us ACTUAL good weapons from Banshee and Xur. Speed up the power grind. Make pinnacles accessible outside of the portal. This is easy shit that would take miminal effort on their part and increase players' interest in the game. SO MANY opportunites that are staring Bungie directly in the face RIGHT NOW that would be very easy to implement into the game, and which would 100% increase player population. This would be good for everyone, including Bungie.

But not so much as to dig out my PS4 from the closet and at 30fps and 70fov.

Shame there was never a PC port of it. Not that I want it continuously updated or anything. Its just nice to go back and play older games sometimes.
