Is €65k enough to support a couple in Dublin?

Hello all!

I’ve just received a job offer for €65k (pre-tax), with three days a week in the office (Dublin 2). I’ll be supporting both myself and my partner on this income.

I know questions about salary and cost of living come up often, but I couldn’t find anything that quite matched our situation. For those of you living here, would this be considered enough for a couple?

What other things must we consider?

Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone, im just wondering is there a place that do very good custom or personalized phone cases

So recently i went to the jervis and checked two stalls and so the first one up by the entrance to the luas did personalized and custom phone cases but their photo machine was broken at the time. Then i went to the next stall but this time still in the jervis but just by Currys and while they could do personalized photos but not for phone cases. So im just wondering is there any where else that do good custom cases without having to shop online

1916 Rebellion Walking Tour in Dublin

Upvotes

EOGHAN

You hosted an amazing tour this morning, and I loved chatting with you. You were super informative, passionate, and I learned a ton, but sadly all I could think about was how badly I wanted to fuck those freckles off of you. Can I buy you a pint or two and you can fill me in on the rest of your history major?

I just wanted to say I think you're a saint, others just walked past but you stopped and offered help to a stranger despite the difficulty. Fair fucking play to you and I hope you're doing well.

St James A&E waiting times

Hey fellas. Stabbed myself in my dominant hand with scissors a week or so ago, never went A&E bc of the waiting times and such, but my GP ended up writing me up a referral since my wound looked gnarly and recommended I go in early Tuesday morning.

Never been to A&E in Dublin before (moved here a couple years back) but heard crazy stuff about waiting times both on here and from my friends at college, so I wanted to ask what everyone else’s experience was with waiting times at St James Hospital A&E, considering no need for hospitalisation/inpatient stay? Would 6 hours be a good approximation thereof?

Has anyone had an experience with cowboy painters?

Has anyone had an experience with cowboy painters?

I hired a company for what should have been a straightforward job. At first, the owner was very friendly and made lots of promises. But the work turned out worse than a first-time DIY attempt. He finished the job two months late, didn’t deliver what he promised, and became abusive and aggressive whenever we tried to address issues with him.

I’d like to leave a review on Google, but since he knows where I live and has already shown aggressive behaviour, I’m not sure it’s worth the risk.

Has anyone else had a similar experience, and how did you handle it?

Where do you buy your chicken breast mini fillets?

Taking inspiration from an earlier post on this sub regarding salmon.

Question - Currently buying chicken breast mini fillets from Tesco but not very impressed with the quality to be honest.

Any recommendations where I can buy good quality chicken breast mini fillets in Dublin?

I want your Knowlege of Salmon

Where do you buy your salmon and why?

I buy mine in Aldi because it's one of the cheapest places but maybe I am in the mood for something a little more up-market. I would love to hear what other Dubs do.

Closed windows in buses - WHY?

Will someone PLEASE explain to me why majority of people in packed buses sit next to closed windows full of condensation, and seem to be completely appalled by a thought of fresh air entering bus? The argument "its cold" doesn't make sense, as we are all sitting in jackets that we wear outside. And it's not lashing rain either.

Forced into using old, grungy furniture

Few weeks ago I was arguing in the comments on this sub about most apartments coming furnished in Dublin. I was told by multiple people that any "decent" landlord would easily offer a flat/house unfurnished if asked. Well, I'm deep into apartment hunting and I'm here to report that they do not offer them unfurnished. I've asked multiple landlords/letting agents and have been declined each time.

Today I was told by the letting agent: "why would the landlord take away the furniture for you when they can find someone who has no problem with it?"

Is it too much to ask for clean furniture in Dublin? Must I sleep on old, stained mattresses and sit on stained, grungy sofas? Ill fitting furniture that doesn't fit nicely in the space? TV from 2008 that's the size of a monitor?

All of this and the properties are actually decent. We have a budget of €2,200 which does improve the quality of housing, but come on... I don't want your disgusting old furniture! Sick of the rental market here.

Adult Soccer

Just wondering is there any amateur teams south of the river that membership is available for?

Looking for a team to join so could train a few times a week and play a weekly match maybe.

Happy to play somewhat competitively but looking for a relaxed enough team.

Any team suggestions, potentially ones in lower divisions?

Any help is appreciated. Cheers

Any good retro game repair shops?

Hey. I'm not from Dublin but I live quote close and have been there with family many times. Wondering if anyone knows any good retro repair shops? Specifically ones that could fix old games? I have a Pokémon Emerald cartridge that I need to get looked at. Keeps crashing despite me cleaning with IPA. My town definitely doesn't have one. I know it in and out and haven't seen one around. If any of ye know any good and reliable ones please comment it below the post, thanks!

Why so much difference between dine-in and delivery (Dublin)?

I’m currently in Dublin and I noticed that in two Indian restaurants the prices for dining in was twice versus ordering from an app like Uber Eats. Is this something common here? Or do you get different portions?

I’m intrigued to know what you put on your roll.

I always get butter, mayo, spicy chicken, lettuce, onion and chipotle sauce.

Vape Shops

Upvotes

I live in Clondalkin. There's 5 vape specific shops within 1km of each other. On top of them being available in every garage and newsagents.. Am I missing something, is this a guise for money laundering or what? There's absolutely no need for them to be in every single village or town is there?
