Fine restaurants in and around Durban
Looking for some hidden gems, or even some that are not so hidden and I may have overlooked

Chefs Table - Umhlanga.
Butlers - Hillcrest
Zimbali - Fire room
Beira Alta - there's one in Sibaiya and Ballito. Both are good

Been to Chefs Table and Beira Alta a good couple of times. Good foods!
I will check out Butlers now. And damn, I keep on forgetting about the Fireroom; do you know if it's the same that it's Monte Casino? That one was good!
Thank you for the recommendations

FR Monte is miles ahead of the Zimbali branch.

I think I was there in December 2021. One of the best steaks I ever had; perhaps top 3! Peppercorn crusted flambéed in cognac. Absolutely divine!

I will, but I remember my partner mentioning it more than once, so perhaps it is time. I have just started a list of restaurants that I must visit haha

I work contractually for the defence industry and the chefs table has nosedived. Food was good but not mind blowing and it had a fast food feel. I took my coworkers there to celebrate a birthday of theirs and we ended up at a bar as the service was basic.

This was the very first fine dining restaurant that I took my partner to, almost 11 years ago, when it was still in 9th Avenue haha. It set the bar really high! I've been many times since

Yori Oki was a very, very good time. The food matched its price and we really had a nice time.

Yori Oki is Soo good! It definitely is pricey - with portion size a bit small. Definitely worth the experience

I have a made a list with answers from this post. I have 13 restaurants, so far, that I haven't tried. I will try them all (over the next couple of months). I will try to remember to come back to this post and give my feedback haha

Easily the best thing you can do is order yourselves a 1kg peri peri prawns with chips. And then get some bread rolls to wipe the platter clean :D
