Looking for Affordable, Decent Place to Rent Near Durban Harbour
Hi everyone,
I'm currently doing an internship in Durban and earning around R7,500 per month. My workplace is near the Durban Harbour, so I'm ideally looking for a place that's within reasonable distance from there, preferably with easy access to public transport if it's not walking distance.
I’ve checked out a few flats in the CBD, but honestly, many of them are in very poor condition, have absurd rules, and are run by unprofessional people. It’s been exhausting and frustrating trying to find something.
I don’t need anything fancy just a clean, secure room or flatlet that’s within budget. I'm open to house shares (separate rooms of course) or renting from a private landlord, as long as it’s a respectful and drama-free environment.
If anyone has leads, suggestions for suburbs to consider, or knows of reputable landlords, I’d really appreciate the help. 🙏
Thanks in advance!

Check out Luna apartments. Saw the ad on Instagram. Under 6k pm free WiFi and laundry on site as well as good security

Unfortunately most of Durban CBD is like this, you're most likely not going to get a decent apartment under R5k
If you're not willing to compromise on transport, sharing might be a really good option otherwise look at Durban South
Rentals are much better priced but you will have to travel a bit
Lift clubs are readily available from most of these areas

South Beach ocean facing , Casablanca you could get a 1 bedroom for around 6k or Groote Schuur. Taxis and buses fo right pass those buildings.

When I was in Durban I found a private landlord on gumtree, small, modern and clean apartment in berea (years ago now). Definitely look on gumtree and marketplace and make sure you get a solid contract from them.
