Lunch spot that is dog friendly in Durban

I am looking for a lunch spot that is pet friendly in Durban - ideally somewhere where they have a place to run around as well. Catch a ball etc.

There are a few… Surf riders on the beach front Merge Coffee at Virginia Circle (inside the Sports Club) Try also the new Surf Riders at Umhlanga Fig Tree Farm has an outdoor place too which may be nice

Would love to hear if there is a spot like this. The best I can recommend is buying/bringing lunch to a doggy park

Did this at Botanical Gardens but what annoys me is how wet the grass is. It makes everything unpleasant and wet. Also dogs have to be on the leash. Any other good dog parks you know of?

Yeah Bot Gardens does not allow dogs to roam free. Here are some areas I know of:

  • La Lucia park on Old Bush Road (about 1km from the mall). Dog owners typically had off-leash dogs.
  • DUC beach at the harbour mouth. Dogs are off-leash from the harbour mouth to somewhere before the first pier.
  • Bridgevale Park in DBN North allow off-leash dogs. Pretty secure too but not what you'd call a "park".
  • Jameson Park at the top of Florida Road (opposite Mitchell Park) is off-leash too if I recall.

DUC is a good place, by the beach and open to public too

Merge Coffee by Virginia Circle has a large sports field that's usually got a dog or two running around, I'm there every week and would recommend the spot.
