Is there a lot of black mold in Durban??

Im moving to durban next year and i am wondering if there is a lot of black mold due to the humidity. I am very allergic and i know that where i live now has a lot so i was wondering how bad it it there?

It's not too bad as long as the place you are moving to hasn't got a dampness issue. You can buy mold spray for your bathroom and kitchen cupboards under the sink. Just spray once a month during the summer. Winter it's not an issue. I have asthma/COPD so I have to be carefull as well.

We noticed that the newer buildings (or perhaps we have had bad luck with sub-par developers) have dampness issues. In the decades of living in Durban we never had mould issues and now we do.

We have now painted the bathroom ceilings with the kitchen/ bathroom anti-bacterial paint and we use the daily shower spray (as we would in any case). We also open doors and windows daily to ensure that the house is well vented.

No, anecdotally our experience is that the newer buildings are the problem.
