WE HAVE A WIKI! Also, de-restriction threads are no longer allowed

The Wiki

Please use this thread for requests, suggestions and corrections.

Note: the link is on the sidebar as well.

It took me way longer than I'd first thought, and a lot of the stuff I'd originally written didn't make the cut because I kept finding imperfections and bad information that I only became aware of as I researched stuff for the articles.

A couple days ago I realised continuing this way would just result in a perfectionist nightmare that wastes time and never gets published at all, so I decided I'd rather have the wiki up now with a few decent pages than who knows when with all the stuff I have in mind for it.

So I selected the pages that seemed most correct, complete and important, gave them a final revision, and they're now publicly accessible:

Delimiting scooters

E-brakes and regenerative braking

Range figures, declared vs real-world

Riding stance

There's also a lexicon that I'll fill up in the following days, and a page about

solid tires

that's still unfinished but that I deemed useful enough to swallow my pride and publish anyway.

The long-awaited ban on derestriction threads

Since there's now a page that explains anything there is to say about the most recurring question in the history of PEVs (and man, was that a time sink to write), threads about de-restricting scooters are no longer allowed.

I'll get the automoderator to auto-reply to those threads with the wiki page, and probably also autoremove them afterwards. This will require some patience as I'm not well-versed in automoderator scripting; if any other mods want to do it, or if non-mods want to post the relevant scripts so that I can add them, they're welcome.

As you can see there's a bunch of empty pages I still have to write, at least partially (lots of them are still only text files on my PC).

I'm not actively looking for editors, but I will consider applications if someone thinks they have what it takes and possesses enough useful information to share.

If you have content for a page but don't want to go so far as to be an editor yourself, you can ask to write it and I may accept it into the wiki (and credit you, of course). Do ask first, just so you don't end up spending time to write something that might not be accepted. Note that pages submitted this way may be modified for styling and fluency, though I'll do my best to maintain them as close to the original submission as possible.

Conversation locked due to a number of people who apparently think there's no better place to ask about delimiting scooters.

I don't even.

I'll reopen it if I add news and info.

General FedEx driver marked my $1,000+ e-Scooter as delivered but actually took them back now FedEx “can’t find them” and closed my case

So I had an e-scooter scheduled for delivery on Friday. Around 10 a.m., I got the notification that my package was delivered. I checked outside and nothing. Then I looked at the shipping details and saw that the apartment number was missing. Instead, it was listed as my leasing office, which is only a minute’s walk away.

I went there assuming the package were left with them, but no trace. The leasing agent told me the FedEx driver did stop by but said since the apt number was missing, he was taking the packages back with him.

That’s where it gets ridiculous:

  • If the driver took them back, why did he mark them as delivered?
  • Why was the “proof of delivery” just a random piece of paperwork instead of an actual delivery photo?

I contacted FedEx right away, opened a ticket, and since then I’ve made about 10 calls over 50+ hours. Every single time, I’m told “we’re investigating the whereabouts of the package” and to wait 1–2 hours for a callback… which never comes. I’ve been repeatedly telling them it’s simple: add the apt number and retry delivery. The package is with the driver/station. Instead, they keep saying they’re “looking” for it.

One supervisor even told me the station had responded and confirmed the apt number update, and that the package would be delivered the next day. Of course, that didn’t happen. The next update I got was a call saying they’re closing the ticket because they “can’t find the package” and I should contact the shipper.

So now I’m stuck. FedEx marked it as delivered (when it wasn’t), their driver left fake proof of delivery, and instead of a simple re-attempt or cancellation, I’m left stranded and told to go deal with the shipper who will just say “it’s marked as delivered, nothing we can do.”

The order is worth over $1,000. I’m completely helpless here.

General Just got my first scooter

After browsing the sub for a week or so, making a post to ask for advice and reviewing the options given to me, Ive opted for the Segway Max G2. I just opened it, set it up and gave it the first test rides. As of now, I am very happy with my purchase. I spent $883 for the scooter (Best buy had it for $799 for Labor Day Sale instead of $1399), and a Hover 1 Helmet with a detachable visor (was on sale for only $10) so overall I feel like it is a good deal to pay $880 for a scooter that would otherwise be double in price. The suspension feels really good, the app is very intuitive and its honestly a blast. Thank you to everyone who took the time to write back on my post. Ill update in a few months and tell you all if I am still as satisfied with my purchase.

Hey everyone, just a quick PSA: please be extra careful on your scooters, you do not want to end up like me. I was hit by a car, ended up with a concussion and a broken arm. Witnesses said the driver was at fault and fled, but I don’t remember a thing.

The scooter involved is a Maxwheel T4 600W. Since the accident, the rear wheel won’t move and it’s throwing an E07 error code. Does that mean it’s a write off? I got it for free, so I’m not too worried about it, just wondering if it’s salvageable. What do you guys think?

My lord this shit was a cheat code for life. I didnt care about being a 43 year old man riding around on a scooter I felt like everyone in a car was a idiot and I had found the ultimate life hack that nobody knew but me.

What would take 30 minutes in a car or 45 min using public transportation I was getting there in 15 on a scooter. I was just shit eating grin the entire time passing cars sitting in traffic

Ordered a G2 Master when I got home

Hi ;) I'm fairly new to electric scooters, and I was browsing on Amazon for electric scooters. There are so many choices that I feel really lost. Would you guys have any recommendations for an e-scooter that is under 400$ CAD? Thank you :)

Buying advice Arwibon vs Teewing

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I’ve been looking to purchase a new scooter from the Teewing website. I’m looking at either the GT4 or the Q7 Pro. Something I found odd when doing research was that there is a couple brands: Arwibon and Boyueda that make scooters and have a couple models that are almost identical to some of the models made by Teewing. Boyueda has a scooter called the Q7 Pro which is the has the same name, build, specs and color as the Teewing Q7 Pro. Arwibon has a scooter called the Mars XTR 10000W also has the same build, name, color and specs as the Teewing Mars XTR 10000W. Does anybody know which brand originally started making these models and who copied who? I understand that some of these scooter companies use the same manufacturer but the fact that these 3 companies have scooters that are damn near identical with the same name seems weird.

Honestly... I hate to say it. I'm kind of disappointed. 32kmph top speed is nowhere near fast enough, and I expected it to be smoother on sidewalks.

I have a Navee ST3 coming soon, and I'm hoping the 40km speed will be enough, and with any luck a bit smoother on sidewalks!

Been seeing a lot of posts lately about people getting hurt on their scooters. Just a little reminder — the best rides are the ones you come home safe from. ✌️ Always bring your helmet, even though mine is sitting on my scooter.

Tech Support Damn this can't be happening.. new boyeuda q7 pro under performs already..

Got a new ride , replacing the obarter x1 ( 3 years, no issues). A boyueda q7 pro.. nothing but appraisal and good reviews. The scooter can go realy fast with amazing torque on dual drive. But using the dual drive and enjoying offroad trails has a major impact on the km's. I understand that. Advertised with 70 km range ( probanly in eco mode) . I could accept 20km less if you like the acceleration. Not the speed, its just not possible to go that fast in a safe way using small dirt roads. So after first initial full charge i got 40 km. The problem is that from having a great ride to the point you go so slow its no longer possible to maintain balance.. takes less then 5 minutes... walk of shame back home. Recharged full again. 2nd ride just the same.. Today 3rd ride i got 11km ( with moderate acceleration and mostly on single motor 2nd gear) ... yeah .. an 11km walk back home. Not going for a 4th edition.
Sended an email with my findings to the adress on the .com website, email adres no longer valid. ( user x , thanks for your template !) I want rembursment or a new scooter.. worst case a new battery. At least thats what i think. One of the cells is broken and blocking the potential. 10.9 Km , no probs, excellent preformance ( full battery indicator and 43V to spare) and then in less then 2 minutes you already know you gonna be hauling the estep you waited a long time, next to you on the way back home verry , verry soon. Any user experiences on the model or advise....

Hey guys, I wanna hear your experience going through fast food drive thru if yall have ever done it?

Was out and about and decided to place a mobile order with McDonald's, I get there and I get rejected, I was like dude I already ordered all you gotta do is give me my food?? What if this was my only mode of transportation? Nopeeeee!! Can't give you the food, made me so mad so I went off on them and left but the least they could've done was "educate" me on policy and give me my food as a 1 time courtesy??

Buying advice Yume Raptor or Teverun

Hello everyone, I am currently planning on purchasing an Yume Raptor or Teverun Blade mini Ultra. I have also looked on theverum Blade GT2 and Kaabo wold x max, but tehere is a problem. I firstly thought about the kaabo, but I forgot one little but critical thing - prices of the teverun and the blade is about 300 dollars higher than in US(because I live in EU) so both scooters enters different price class, moreover I do not have enough money. So my question is what is better 30Ah Yume raptor or Teverun Blade mini ultra.

The key factors for me right now are specs, aftersale service and quality. I have heard some bad things about the yume, but not so many about the teverun mini, but in comparison to yume, teverun has 27Ah no name battery cells. I have thought seen a video where a guy showed battery and on the battery clearly written DMEGC cells, the same as in kaabo. So I want to hear opinion about both scooters and it better not to be the guess but a objective critic from those who hade one or boths. Thanks for answers!

General Help With Scooter Speed

Hi guys, this is an alt account so I don’t get hate.

Basically I’m 14 and bought and Ausom l2 single motor, and I got a lot of gear with it to stay safe. But it’s been 3 days and it already feels slow now, and I feel like I should’ve got the dual motor. However I can’t return the scooter as it has no issues, and my mom would be mad at me for buying and returning stuff since it causes her a lot of inconvenience. Any thoughts about this? Currently my scooter hits 31 mph as advertised gps tested, probably because I weigh 85 pounds.

Thanks
