General Just got my first scooter

Post image

After browsing the sub for a week or so, making a post to ask for advice and reviewing the options given to me, Ive opted for the Segway Max G2. I just opened it, set it up and gave it the first test rides. As of now, I am very happy with my purchase. I spent $883 for the scooter (Best buy had it for $799 for Labor Day Sale instead of $1399), and a Hover 1 Helmet with a detachable visor (was on sale for only $10) so overall I feel like it is a good deal to pay $880 for a scooter that would otherwise be double in price. The suspension feels really good, the app is very intuitive and its honestly a blast. Thank you to everyone who took the time to write back on my post. Ill update in a few months and tell you all if I am still as satisfied with my purchase.

Congratulations! Got my Max G2 couple months ago. These items are must imo: Helmet (mountain bike or full face motorcycle, armored jacket, knee pads, riding gloves. I had my first fall wearing only a bicycle helmet and got major road rash. After recovering I ordered all the personal protective gear I could get my hands on.

Most riders don’t gear up this much but I think it’s worth it!

Would you mind posting links so I can see what kind of gear youre rocking? I appreciate the suggestions. Also how fast were you going when you fell, and what caused your fall?

I’ll try to get the links later but here’s my gear:

Helmet: Shoei RF-SR Jacket: Alpinestars T-GP Plus R V4 Airflow Jacket Kneepads: Alpinestars Bionic Plus Knee Protectors Gloves: Alpinestars SMX-1 Air v2 Gloves

I was going about 15-17mph when I fell. Took my hand off the left handlebar to wave at my neighbor (stupid i know lol) and the wheel immediately turned and I lost control. Hit 95 degree asphalt and rolled 3-4 times (luckily had my work backpack on which stopped the rolling from being worse. Only protection I had on was a bike helmet. Sustained 2nd degree road rash on left forearm, left knee, and both palms. First week of recovery was pure hell but I felt ok by the 2 week mark.

Everyone’s mileage may vary with protective gear but as someone in my late 30’s I can’t afford to get seriously hurt like that and miss work, being on bedrest for several days etc. Like any other activity, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Dude ur not going to need all that gear on this scooter….. this guy is obviously a shop owner who sells gear.

This was my first e scooter too and after buying a 40 mph scooter, this one feels more like a child’s toy

I could see how going faster could be a lot more fun but I was really shooting for $500-$600 so the almost $900 I spent were even too much. This is not a commuter for me, Ill only use it to get around my University campus so I cannot justify the $1400. Im glad you enjoy your purchase though :)

I wish I were that successful lmao. Depending on use case, more gear the merrier. I commute on busy roads and had a serious fall right near my house,

I was about to say too much but I have the same scooter and the only thing I don't have for it is the armored jacket.

Get one if you can. Totally worth the peace of mind. You never know what kind of fall/accident is around the corner.

Resume the surgery return my shoulder after I went down from an unexpected pothole.

Thank God I was at least wearing a helmet, the giant dent in it turned what likely would’ve been missing half the skin from my face and a skull fracture if not brain bleed into a mild concussion.
