General FedEx driver marked my $1,000+ e-Scooter as delivered but actually took them back now FedEx “can’t find them” and closed my case

So I had an e-scooter scheduled for delivery on Friday. Around 10 a.m., I got the notification that my package was delivered. I checked outside and nothing. Then I looked at the shipping details and saw that the apartment number was missing. Instead, it was listed as my leasing office, which is only a minute’s walk away.

I went there assuming the package were left with them, but no trace. The leasing agent told me the FedEx driver did stop by but said since the apt number was missing, he was taking the packages back with him.

That’s where it gets ridiculous:

  • If the driver took them back, why did he mark them as delivered?
  • Why was the “proof of delivery” just a random piece of paperwork instead of an actual delivery photo?

I contacted FedEx right away, opened a ticket, and since then I’ve made about 10 calls over 50+ hours. Every single time, I’m told “we’re investigating the whereabouts of the package” and to wait 1–2 hours for a callback… which never comes. I’ve been repeatedly telling them it’s simple: add the apt number and retry delivery. The package is with the driver/station. Instead, they keep saying they’re “looking” for it.

One supervisor even told me the station had responded and confirmed the apt number update, and that the package would be delivered the next day. Of course, that didn’t happen. The next update I got was a call saying they’re closing the ticket because they “can’t find the package” and I should contact the shipper.

So now I’m stuck. FedEx marked it as delivered (when it wasn’t), their driver left fake proof of delivery, and instead of a simple re-attempt or cancellation, I’m left stranded and told to go deal with the shipper who will just say “it’s marked as delivered, nothing we can do.”

The order is worth over $1,000. I’m completely helpless here.

You're probably not the only person this is happening to with this driver. It's probably just resulted in a finger-waggle with him based on their response.

Charge back is one step but if you can, go to the police. Their supervisor will figure out what happened real fucking quick when they can be implicated in theft.

I had a telecom threaten to charge me $250 for the modem their tech took when he upgraded my service.

So I asked for the tech's name. When they asked why I need that I said for the theft report I'll be filing against him.

Suddenly I didn't need to pay for the modem anymore.

The shipper should be refunding the purchase in this situation. I agree that a dispute would be fine if they refuse a refund...that should not happen though.

Nobody stole the shipment.

If FedEx absolutely couldn't deliver it, then they should have sent it back to the shipper. Clearly that didn't happen, so it would seem it WAS stolen.

u/Upper-Requirement-93 Inmotion S1F 1d ago

Sure. Where is it, then?

They probably sent it back as undeliverable. It could be stuck at the station. It went back with the truck. This stuff does happen a lot unfortunately.

Why are you defending it? lol they can definitely get off their ass and figure it the fuck out regardless, it's their job, instead they closed the ticket and gave up. This screws both the OP and the scooter company.

Because I've worked in the business my entire life..Im not defending anything. I'm stating what is happening.

I mean from the shipper perspective fedex says it was delivered

1

u/Hipster-Doofus585 1d ago

If you were never in possession of the item, theft isn't the crime and this is a civil matter.

u/Roguefem-76 1d ago

FedEx did the same thing to me, although fortunately it was only for a cup and I was able to find where they'd actually left it. (Driver had left it at the wrong building because apparently numbers are hard.)

Their package traces are a joke. The "investigations" are nothing but stalling for a few days and then "You'll have to contact your shipper."

This is how my last order looked, and it’s usually how it always looks when I order a scooter. Like I said I’m not calling anybody liars lol I just was not aware they did that since they’ve never done that to me. In fact I’ve missed work multiple times because of this. It has its pros and cons for sure tho

This is what mine also looks like. It’s been “on the way” for 4 days now.

u/Rabble_Runt 1d ago

Same for me when mine were delivered yesterday.

12

u/Interconventional 1d ago

Why did you do a second post saying it was bikes

13

u/EmptyReceptors 1d ago

Because it's a fake report

His other post on Fedex has everyone believing him too lol I got downvoted over there.

Edit: Struck a nerve with OP on FedEx sub 😂

I think the driver just took the scooter for himself. You should email FedEx's higher-ups or call FedEx and ask to speak with a manager. Maybe they could help you. If not, maybe talk to a lawyer

11

u/RabidWolfIsAFurry 1d ago

Which was it, a scooter or two ebikes? I think you're trying to scam

1

u/eGLD_F 19h ago

For me, ‘e-bike’ is just a general term for both. And I don’t see how referring to it would prove anything.

Chargeback, you didn’t get what you paid for. I had similar with Evri (in the UK), lying scumbag driver marked 6 parcels as delivered then knocked up fake proof of delivery and now the sender is telling me “well, they say they’re delivered” but I never had them.

u/Buddha719 1d ago

The FedEx driver always marks packages as delivered, even if they never arrive at your front door. When I called FedEx customer service to complain, they insisted that it had been delivered. I then asked if it was delivered, but why didn't I see the FedEx driver attempt to deliver it on my camera? The representative had no response.

I sometimes feel like FedEx is staffed by prison labor.

I ordered a pair of Ray-Ban Meta Smart glasses and FedEx delivered a hastily taped box containing a torn open and empty case from RayBan. It was clearly stolen by the driver as the shipping carton clearly indicates what's in the box.

I did a chargeback and got a refund and ordered a pair from Amazon - where the drivers are too terrified of being replaced by a drone to do anything dishonest. Plus easy refunds.

After a certain point, you just need to reach out to the actual place that you bought it from and let them know that FedEx is telling you that the item is lost. Of course they’re gonna say it was delivered if it’s marked like that on the tracking number, but if they actually reach out to FedEx, they will be told that it is lost. It would be helpful if you include any screenshots of emails talking to FedEx employees where they admit that the item is a lost not just delivered. Let them know you expect to hear back something in a week. If not, you’ll be filing a charge back. Anything in writing you can get from FedEx where they acknowledge that it is lost will be crucial for this. Otherwise, the company is likely to just submit the screenshots of the tracking number where the item is showed as delivered and possibly win a chargeback case. Next time, make sure you put the apartment number in the address when you order stuff.

2

u/eGLD_F 1d ago

Yeah, I had them send me an email confirming they lost the package

“Lost” the package, the driver already pawned it.

I ALWAYS pick up my scooter from the warehouse. I don’t trust these idiots with my stuff.

6

u/Slipstream85 1d ago

FedEx delivered mine and forged my signature then just left at the door but luckily I took the day off work waiting for it

5

u/fartle 1d ago

I had a similar thing happen to me for a package about three years ago. It required signature verification and the guy walked up to the front door, didn't ring the doorbell, marked it delivered, and walked back to the truck with it (thank goodness for cameras, huh?).

The next day, it was updated from "delivered" to "out for delivery", and another Fedex dude just dropped it off without a signature. You could potentially be in the same situation if it was supposed to be delivered yesterday.

u/Far_Zone_9512 1d ago

When you call ask to speak with a customer service advocate. They're a step above customer service. They will make sure the situation is handled correctly. How do I know this... I worked at fedex for almost 10 years.

u/Lantea1 KQi Air; KQi2; G30LP; VDM-10 1d ago

Doesn't the driver need your signature/ID number on the proof of delivery? Unless you sign for it there is no proof it was delivered to you. At least that's how it works here.

6

u/Powerful_Fall_9173 1d ago

They’d never leave something that expensive just sitting outside, it requires a direct signature

5

u/IamNetworkNinja 1d ago

Not true at all. None of my 6 scooters required a signature. They left mine right in the front of my house on the sidewalk when I wasn't home that anyone could take

3

u/Powerful_Fall_9173 1d ago

Oh wow I guess it’s just me then

2

u/bloxoss 1d ago

You’re right, any expensive scooter or product in general $500+ has required a signature. Even my jbl party box needed a signature 🤷‍♂️

2

u/Powerful_Fall_9173 1d ago

I mean what if the person isn’t home and paid 3000$ they’d really just leave it out there? I’d be so mad and frustrated, all while praying that somebody doesn’t take it in the same process.

1

u/IamNetworkNinja 1d ago

Yeah that's exactly what happened to me. I bought two brand new Nami Klima and they just set them right outside. Someone took em both. I was on a cruise in the middle of the ocean. Thing is they weren't even supposed to be delivered til I got back but FedEx did it anyway.

2

u/iadmiredonuts 1d ago

FedEx drivers dgaf. I ordered a few months ago from eScooters and rather than contacting me, the delivery driver forged my signature and left it in the lobby. Opened a ticket with their customer service before I realized it was actually delivered (thought it might have been stolen since my signature was forged) and two weeks later got a "sorry, we were unable to locate your package" email.

1

u/StarshitPoopers48 1d ago

That’s incorrect. They left my new wheels and tires on the side of my house. 1500 dollars worth.

1

u/eGLD_F 1d ago

The package didn't require a signature

5

u/j021dl 1d ago

that is the mistake of the seller...

5

u/Powerful_Fall_9173 1d ago

That’s weird. I’ve ordered over 5 e scooters over 1000+ each and they’ve always required a signature. Just 3 days ago I received my arwibon gto8 from FedEx and had to sign as well. Not calling you a liar, just strange is all

1

u/AcceptableExtreme244 1d ago

It is possible that he contacted the shipper (before the package was shipped) and asked for his signature to not be required, I’m not saying this is for sure what happened but the 2nd time I ordered my Arwibon GT08 I requested this and I did not have to sign.

1

u/Fine_Dot_3322 1d ago

I ordered a GT08 from AliExpress on the 23rd and it still hasn’t come yet. It’s been “on the way” for 4 days now.

2

u/SuckEmOff Teverun 7260R V5 / INMOTION Air Pro 1d ago

It’s normal, probably being transferred to the freight or last mile shipper.

6

u/WishTrick524 🛵Navee S65💨Segway D18w 1d ago

Contact whoever you ordered from, generally they can get more out of fedex than you can. If all else fails, chargeback time. Hope you paid with CC

3

u/StarshitPoopers48 1d ago

Okay scammer

u/RabidWolfIsAFurry 18h ago

Since chargeback is really the only answer in my book, I’ll also add to get a camera for your delivery point. Easiest way to prove you didn’t get something. Make sure it has a timestamp. Blink I believe is the cheapest smart camera. They have em for like $30 sometimes.

I got it after Ali Express last mile delivery (SPEEDX and Uniuni {hate them}) pulled some lazy shit and left my stuff in an unsecured lobby. By the time I got the notification my shit was gone. I said “never again”

Mind you it was a throttle for my scooter, I had to splice together one that still works to this day.

Edit: I was also under the impression that high value items are signature required.. so it’s messed up proof of delivery isn’t a name & signature.

1

u/xMoirae Yume Predator 1d ago

bro uniuni literally lost my package a few days ago and is ghosting my emails. Feels even worse because aliexpress is terrible to deal with and ignored everything I said. Now I'm waiting in a paypal dispute. Funny enough they also delivered my package to the front of the leasing office and they even delivered it in front of the gym one time. I sent a complaint and they said they would take care of it. Next delivery was in front of my door and the one after that? well here we are. These companies should be illegal the way they screw people over, no one to hold them accountable.

1

u/WishTrick524 🛵Navee S65💨Segway D18w 1d ago

I got a blink system, i never miss a package 😁

-8

u/sushimane91 1d ago

lol “pulled some lazy shit”

God forbid they leave something in a mailroom and not walk door door in giant apartment complexes.

Buy a house if it’s an issue for ya. 🤷🏿‍♂️

u/bassbeatsbanging 1d ago

bait used to be believable

u/Dripz167 Nami Burn-E 2, Vsett 10 Single Motor 1d ago edited 1d ago

If you were reading, which obviously isn’t your strong point, I literally stated it’s an unsecured lobby. Most buildings in my area don’t have a mailroom or a doorman. It’s just a wall with mailboxes. So yes, it is totally lazy shit when literally every delivery company delivers door to door in places that don’t have the facilities. From USPS to Amazon.

Mind you I have 2 working elevators and I’m only on the second floor. Oh and to answer your comment about buying a house, have you ever heard of porch pirates?

2

u/Pistolsoundlikeminem 1d ago

This. Everything I order from Amazon is delivered to my apartment door. I believe this is a lucky luxury in my current case. When I lived in larger cities they would never deliver to my door. I just had issues with fed ex not attempting to even knock on my door to try and deliver me my scooter. They just posted some unfilled out sticker label to the outside of the building. Last night I wrote a large note asking politely that the fed ex driver please at least call me from the call box. So today he actually does so and I tell him I’ll be down in a minute. I was ran over by a car last year. I’m still having to use crutches because of this. Aside from all that bs I get down there in under a minute. I open the door and he walks into my complex to get my signature and leaves the 50 pound box on the porch. I’m like hey dude can’t you see I’m using crutches here can you please at least bring it inside for me. Which he does so while talking shit under his breath. So I’ve had enough with these people and the company so I’m like you know what dude, do me a f@cking solid and take it up one flight of stairs for me. He points at his truck acting like it’s going to get towed in the matter of 30 seconds or things will be stolen. I told him I’ll make sure none of that happens. I imagine a few people who actually read this boring a$$ story will think I was the jerk in this situation. I’m hoping the majority understands my position. I worked for ups one holiday season. We took everything to people’s apartment door. I understand the logistics may be set up completely different for FedEx drivers but to not offer someone with a current disability the decency to at least move the package from the porch of the building, to inside, speaks volumes about the company overall and people working for them in general🙄

-5

u/sushimane91 1d ago

Nope I understood the first time. Poor in an apartment and mad about mail. Got it.

The driver stole your scooter

-1

u/WishTrick524 🛵Navee S65💨Segway D18w 1d ago edited 1d ago

Unless they got some organized crime thing going on i doubt any fedex driver is going to risk his job for an electric scooter - they got cameras all over their trucks

3

u/Davidclabarr 1d ago

You’d be surprised. I work for an American major cell phone carrier, and we have employees frequently steal our cell phone shipments. I think by the time it gets reported to UPS, it’s gone through so much corporate bullshit that it just dies somewhere.

1

u/xMoirae Yume Predator 1d ago

UPS employees stealing?

1

u/Davidclabarr 19h ago

Correct

1

u/xMoirae Yume Predator 15h ago

Wow you never hear about that! It's always fedex.

2

u/xMoirae Yume Predator 1d ago

lol samsung literally dropped fedex from shipping new devices and I'd bet money it was because of all the theft complaints. You definitely don't drop fedex for ups because it's cheaper.

Fed Ex seems to have a lot of issues. I ordered a new iphone 16 from my carrier last year. They said it would be delivered within 2 days. A week later, no phone. I stop back in at Verizon and they say give it a few more days. Another week and no phone. The tracking data is useless.. it just seems to have vanished somehow I go back in and the guy at Verizon very casually says that the local Fed Ex has a long history of stealing phones and says at their old location, they were right down the street and had a lot more shrinkage back then. They order me another phone and I point out that we're essentially just giving whatever pirate their shipper has working for them another shot at a free iphone 16 pro. The response was a shrug and essentially "yeah, what can ya do?". I had them ship the phone to my parent's house one state away. It arrived in a couple days safe and sound.

Two months later, my original phone shows up out of the blue at my house and I note that all the shipping info on the box indicates it was sent out the day after I originally ordered it. No accounting for where it had been or who had it for all that time. I suspect somebody got busted with pilfered goods at work and in exchange for not bringing a formal criminal complaint, had to return all the items, then in a sweeping "cover your butt" move, they just delivered them two months late and acted as if it was totally normal. So strange.
