Healthcare EM

I’m signed up to take the Association of Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Professionals (AHEPP) exam this month. Has anyone taken it before? I’m doing all the readings and I’m curious what kind of questions they ask? scenario based? Or should I truly know the definition of “Risk”word for word

Also only in my career about 2 years so any other insight to certification exams is welcome

Honestly you'd be better getting a CHEC or CHEP certification than the AHEPP one. They are both more widely recognized.

I am looking at both of those as well. My boss wants me to present at AHEPP this year & asked me to take the exam as well

I second the above, AHEPP is trying to become more prominent but they haven’t made it yet. I’d look into the IBFSCM CHEP credential or if you are a DNV facility (As opposed to TJC) look into the CHOP credential through them as well.

If I remember correctly (took and passed the exam this past year) it’s heavy on fundamentals of EM/Preparedness, healthcare EM definitions, and occupational safety/health regulations. Nothing out of the realm of reason. As a disclaimer, they likely shuffle the question banks, your experience may differ.

Though, I agree with the other folks on this thread, there’s nothing wrong with the HcEM cert, however you may get additional or more mileage out of a more widely recognized cert. AHEPP seems to be doing a lot to get their name out there though. And, their events/conferences are always a great way to expand your network as it’s a close knit community.
