So me and one of my good friends are in a couple different leagues together, actually several, but in two of the leagues that we're in, there are a little bit different taxi rules.
The one league, has a rule that players must have been drafted in the rookie draft to be taxied, this league also has unlimited taxi spots, and a six-round rookie draft. Due to the unlimited taxi spots, and the six round rookie draft, I feel like it's understandable. You don't want somebody to just load up 50 waiver wire players and hoard them.
In the other league, we only have six or seven taxi spots, and a four-round rookie draft. I was forced to drop New York Jets wide receiver Arian Smith, because he went undrafted.
I personally don't like this rule in this league, because I feel like it punishes players who are doing deeper research on undrafted players, and with a taxi squad of only six or seven players, I feel like the hoarding situation wouldn't happen in this league. I know in the grand scheme of things, this isn't that big of a deal, but it is a minor detail that I happen to disagree with him on.
Logically, I cannot understand what the difference is value-wise, between a guy who is a rookie fourth round pick, and a player who happened to not be selected in the rookie draft, and why that should determine whether I can taxi him or not.
Also, I feel like if I'm adding players through waivers, and especially if I'm spending FAAB on them, I should be able to taxi them regardless of if they were drafted.
Anybody have any thoughts?
