Get More Fbody's! (Instagram, Website, T-Shirts)

Recently I've been busy and haven't had time to be on Reddit and view /r/Fbody. As a Fbody Owner and lover I compiled a list of reliable ways to view more Fbody's. Most of these ways are for mobile devices.

To Begin: I am a follower of FbodyBros on Instagram.

  • They post daily and multiple times a day. All their posts are user submitted. The account is nicely ran and has a nice product line. Not just 4th gen's too.

The Website: FbodyBros has a website where they sell Stickers, Banners, and T-Shirts.

2nd Gen door panels

Post image

Not sure how many 2nd gen guys are in here but I’m restoring a 74 Firebird and finding used door panels around me is like pulling teeth. Finally found this set and they’re rough. Trying to decide if I want to tear them down and attempt to restore them or just clean them up and run them as is. Has anyone restored a set of these and can shine some light on it?

Im around dallas area I had it listed for 2.5k no one wanted to pay anything, I thought 2k is a fair price given all the problems but it still being an f body the it shouod be worth more than 1k imo idk lmk want to sell need advice Clean Texas title Lt1 w/4l60e 142k miles Main issue is lifter tick coming from cylinder 3 and its throwing a code for a misfire and also a egr code which has a block off in it from previous owner Has oil leak coming from back of engine and its common on these, I just run thicker oil (personally)and it slows it down more than enough T-tops in good condition I have a pair of long tube headers and cloth seats from a camaro in the car right now will throw in with the car if you want them Has new water pump , optispark ( distributor), k&n air filter, spark plugs , wires, Kenwood Bluetooth radio, transmission filter and fluid ( have receipt) Tires are at roughly 4/32nds Michelin defender 2s from 2017 Biggest issue on the car is the tick would adress it first This car is for someone that wants a project and will most likely do the work themselves Paint is in ok condition is peeling in some parts

What clutch do i need

Dropping my transmission for the 3rd time in 5 years.

Stockish 2000 ls1 with 240k miles. Sending the transmission to be rebuilt this week due to vibrations.

When I bought the car the slave cylinder went out and I put a new parts store clutch in it with the turned flywheel. That lasted 2 years and shredded losing a third of the clutch off one side. I also had to replace the throw out bushing that was in peices in the bell house.

The bushing was still there when I replaced the flywheel and clutch with the Hawks sinister stage 1 kit. But about 6 months ago my transmission started vibrating and locking me out of gears at high rpm. Taking it apart the clutch pack is visibly off center and the input shaft has wobble, the throw out bushing is there but possibly worn.

The flywheel was new so im gonna a have it turned but need a clutch and pressure plate because I think this one will be no good due to running off center with vibrations.

Should I call Hawks next week when they open back up and see if they will seperate the clutch and plate from their 700$ kit since my flywheel is fine or are their better options for a daily driver vacation car that get driven rough on the weekends.

Need a replacement sensor and connector, though it was a coolant temp sensor but can’t find anything that resembles the connector or sensor. I found similar connectors but they all have 1 wire and mine has 2. Thanks

F body spoiler Spoiler

I have a 1999 Camaro z28 and I’m curious. Anybody ever stick a trans-am spoiler on the back of a Camaro? I know a lot od exterior stuff doesn’t work across the firebird to Camaro but is the spoiler possible? Challenges? I like the look of them and I’d like to do it. Just trying to figure out if I can and if so, how.

Those With Street and Strip Cars (or non-daily Drivers) What Battery Do You Run?

I have a 1986 Camaro IROC Z. I've owned it since circa 2012. For the first 10 years, it was my daily driver. Now it's being turned into a street and strip car since I have a second car. It's used the standard AC Delco all it's life.

However, now that my car isn't running all of the time, I had to buy a trickle charger and since I don't have a garage, I have to remove the battery from the car and charger it inside the house.

I'm looking into an AGM Battery. It seems other than Optima there aren't as many options for third gen F-bodies with Gen 1 style SBCs (I think compared to the LS cars). Really Optima and maybe Interstate are the only options. Neither Super Start nor Duralast seem to make an AGM that fits our battery terminals like they do other cars.

I know AC Delco makes an AGM for the LSX cars but not for our cars...

Any recommends or should I just stick with the flood top Delco and charger?

Rear end and other upgrades.

Hey guys.

Kinda been mapping out my build plans for my 1994 z28 Camaro. It’s the 4 speed auto. Stock for the most part. Luckily cosmetically it’s perfect inside and out. So all my budget can be for performance. If I was looking to put about 8k into it max over the next couple years and can do most of the work myself what should I do?

I’ve just done the suspension cans front end completely and it drives very smooth. Opti just started to act up so I’m planning to cheap fix it and get a torque head on order so that’s about 2500. Then the fun can really begin.

Next thing after the torque head is breaks and new rear end. What do y’all recommend? I want to beef up the rear enough to handle some more power but I don’t know if the transmission can handle too much more right? Keep in mind I want to spend only about 5500 more at this point and would need to have a pro do the transmission work, cause I’m not experienced (unless there’s simpler ways to strengthen the tranny.)

That being said, what all do I need to do along with the rear end to get it all working together and what’s that going to run me? Budgeting about 1000 on breaks and 2000 to 2500 max on the rear end build. Leaving me with about 2k to play with engine boosting

Wheel Sizing / Fit Question

I have a 2002 Camaro SS and I'm looking to replace the SS wheels that came with it all those years ago (metal is pitted, tired looking) with a set of these:

https://www.americanmuscle.com/camaro-cv04-black-machined-lip-wheel-17x9-5-cv04-17095-5475-54bm.html

My understanding is the that SS wheels on it are 17x9's all around -- would these be an okay fit without modifying anything or rubbing?

Are old f bodies reliable these days?

Saw a 2000 z28 with a little over 100k miles in great shape online. They’re asking about 10k for it though. Given that it’s 25 years old, are these reliable daily cars and with a car that old would it require a good deal of work to maintain it? From the photos the owners look like they maintained it very well. Even the interior looks pretty new.

New to me 98 SS

I’d been shopping for something for the last couple of years and finally found this. My first muscle car was 95 z28 that my dad I and dropped a super charger into and my last was a 93 LX 5.0 but have had several Camaros and Mustangs in my early 20s and I am so excited to have one of these again.

It’s a 98 SS Camaro, 6 speed with just over 68k miles after driving it home. Previous owner put 4:10s in it and looks to have replaced the dual dual SLP exhaust. Everything else is stock. Ultimately just wanting to share.

I am a little underwhelmed on the exhaust note/sound and wondering if anyone can help me identify what SLP exhaust this has on it. Seems like there is an additional muffler or resonator in the middle of the car. You can see it in the second to last picture. Is this an SLP loudmouth 1 system or something that predates that? If that is an additional muffler or resonator in the middle of the car I am guessing I could just have that cut out and replaced with a straight pipe to get a better sound and flow.

is this a normal problem with the rad

this sucks lol. i have been dealing with issues with “overheating” since i replaced the power steering pump (had to remove top rad hose). so i got a new coolant temp sensor and it runs 210+ all the time fans non stop and so today i tried to bleed the system some more and discovered this. this must have been why it couldn’t ever bleed properly. thing pulls like a train tho cant lie. but had to park it unfortunately because of this
