I recently entered a contest where the goal was to represent your hobby, and I’m now one of the finalists. The person with the most votes will see their creation come to life ! šŸŽ„I’ve always dreamed of combining my two passions: cinema and LEGO, and thanks to this community, it could become possible 🤩

So, if you have a minute to help a fellow enthusiast make their dream come true, it would be amazing ! šŸ‘‰šŸ‘ˆ

Contest I hated shooting commercial because I always wanted to make movies. So, I developed an app for people like me. Now, I'm giving $10,000 to the best filmmaker on my app.

For the past three years, I’ve shot countless weddings, kid's birthday parties, and commercial events... and I hate it. Truth is, I want to make films not content.

That’s why I created WAVES, an app for filmmakers who want their work to speak for itself without the need for aggressive marketing. It’s a platform where quality rises to the top, and all it takes is a download and an upload to participate.

WAVES, born from a collaboration with my college roommates, is our vision for a less chaotic "content" space, combining the best features from things like YouTube and TikTok but tailored for filmmakers.

I’m offering a $10,000 prize through our Headline Horizons Film Competition on WAVES. This app isn’t just for creators; it’s for anyone who appreciates the art of film. If my journey resonates with you, join us on WAVES as a filmmaker or casual watcher.

TL;DR: OP shot weddings but aspired to make films—developed a TikTok-like app, but horizontally formatted for films and digital film competitions. Now OP is giving away $10,000 to the best film on the app. The app is called WAVES and is open to all storytellers.

Link: https://onlywave.tv/

Edit: There are no ads on WAVES, therefore no reason to collect your data.

As a user on WAVES you have the option to pay for higher quality uploads (HD) and the ability to upload unlimited. Right now users have 10 free uploads.

WAVES is a completely free app but the decision to pay for uploads and quality will always be optional.

Contest Seeking Crew & Post for Horror Short Contest!

Hello Filmmakers!

My friends and I just signed up for a horror film contest! We have exactly one month to make a short film (starting 9/5)!

This is a no-budget, volunteer project, but the grand prize is $2,000 (which we'd split if we win)! We're trying to keep the crew small, just in case we do win BUT the main goal is to get creative, have fun, and make a short film under a time constraint. Think 48-hour film festival, but a bit more realistic.

On September 5th, we will receive the subgenre we are working with and then I will write the script that weekend. Then shooting the following weekend, and then post production and the final product is due October 5th.

LOCATION: Los Angeles (Hollywood)

DATE: September 13

Looking for CREW & POST PRODUCTION!

Crew we need:
• Gaffer
• 1st AC
• Sound
• Possibly MUA depending on the genre we get

Post we need:
• Editor
• Sound Designer

If interested, DM me or email me at [ macabreproductionsla @ gmail ]

PLEASE include the equipment you own if applicable and/or any past work! I’ve been getting a lot of messages that just say 'I’m available,' but without details I've asked for and I can’t move forward with hiring with that.

I will link my last short film ust as an example of my writing and directing (and you can check out the YouTube channel for more).

Contest New Film Festival - FrostyFest Film!

Hey folks! My company, The StageCrafts, has been running small genre-based performing arts festivals every other month at our venue in Hollywood for about nine months now, and we've had some great success with them! So much so, we're expanding and adding a Film component starting with our second annual holiday festival, FrostyFest. If you've got a holiday- or winter-themed short film (20 minutes or less), we'd love to see it!

Contest Rite of Way - first film, Film of the Month

Rite of Way is my first film, and I can’t tell you how much this sub helped me through the process. I lurked threads about budgeting, crewing up, what to avoid. This community gave me the confidence to actually do the thing.

Hope you’ll check it out. It’s a 10 minute horror-comedy, logline below. If you like it, please vote for it!Ā

And I’d be stoked to answer any questions about the process —  budget, schedule, casting, gear,Ā  whatever. Thanks so much for all the guidance, whether you knew you were giving it or not.

When an ancient ritual involving a salad bowl determines who must lay their life on the line, an otherwise easy-going teacher fights against tradition to potentially save herself.

Appreciate you all!
