Our hydrants are painted bright red, with a 5' sign. It's hard to miss em.

This is just dumb.
Why paint it dark green? I can hardly fault that driver.

Obviously this is a green top hydrant per NFPA standards, but instead of just doing the top they paint the whole hydrant making it easier to tell.

This is not a green top hydrant.

Then what is it?

It’s a blue banded hydrant. All hydrants in DC are green and marked with reflective bands to indicated rated flow.
