FDNY's social media has brought the subject up a few times recently. It appears they're serious about getting people to realize they're not fucking around.
NYC is not fu*cking around. At a double fatal in the Bronx, a car was parked on a hydrant. Owner got a $4000 fine.
“We’re not supposed to do it but where else am I going to park?” the vehicle owner told ABC 7 at the time. “You can’t double park in these streets, these streets are small.”
Exactly, what the regular people don’t understand about the protocol of a fire job, especially in NYC with the FDNY, is that the inconvenience of even just a few seconds of direct access to a hydrant for water supply can, and will, cause people to die. It is not an opinion, it is a fact.
