Yes, I learned this as well. It's best to crawl like this, feet first. So you can feel floor holes and loose flooring and prevents you from falling

Instead of crawling around you can have a foot out forward kind of in a bottomed out lunge position. That foot can then be swept around the room to feel for anything and it also provides much greater stability.
