Fire at Stella Jones. SJ specializes in pressure treated wood products such as utility poles.

Brierfield Fire Chief Sprice Mcree said there were thousands of gallons of hazardous materials on the property. During their attack they were forced to fall back and watch it burn.

Use of water as an extinguishing agent was limited because of concerns over contaminated runoff. The plant sits on a hill with the Cahaba River two miles away.

Mcree is happy everyone made it out but reported that some departments lost equipment. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for first-degree burns but has since been treated and released. He's since been treated and released.
