At what age did you start firefighting?

Asking because it’s a late career choice for some, while others do it right after college or even high school.

I volunteered at 40, lasted 9 years. Going back in at 55. It feels crazy to do this for free, but there's such satisfaction and safety knowing that you're part of this group that helps people in your town. When we have an emergency at home, knowing that my friends are on their way makes all the difference.
