Ask A Firefighter At what age did you start firefighting?

Asking because it’s a late career choice for some, while others do it right after college or even high school.

14 as an Explorer. Became full department member at 18. Moved to a new state at 25. Didn’t join a department in the new state til I was 40. Had to go to rookie school all over again.
