Ask A Firefighter What is the "official" name of this side saddle trough?
Our mechanic is needing to know the official name of this side saddle, to replace a damaged one on an Engine. The TO, diagrams, schematics, etc do not say a name or refer to it. We've called it trash line beds, side saddles, side buckets, etc.
Anyone know what the OFFICIAL name is?

Empty water bottle holder. Or at least that's where the guys dump trash after a fire lol.

Looks like you might also be USAF? You might see if your LRS/VM squadron can get ahold of someone at another LRS/VM squadron and see if they know the answer.
Otherwise the easiest way is to get ahold of the manufacturer. We had to do that at my last base for one of our trucks that was constantly leaking from the tank to pump and help us diagnose what the issue was.
Best of luck to you!

I was asking for legit answers, but that's what I get for asking firefighters and also firefighters on Reddit.

The dunnage is on top of the pump, is it not? That area below the deck gun, usually where the generator sits

Pony length compartment. But with a locking lid on ours. This one, if it stays put while driving looks much better.

Hose box. But I’d turn that piston to the right one click because once you charge that 5”, it definitely will kink right there

In 25+ years I honestly don’t think I’ve ever called it anything.

We usually called it ‘The rookie forgot to strap the hose in and now it’s splayed out all over the road.’ because our roads were so bumpy we had to bungee cord them in.

"Running Board Hose Trough" or "Running Board Floating Hose Trough" depending on how it's built.

I've heard it referred to as a dunnage by a few guys in different departments around me

I call it it/them driver side and passenger side well(s). Like most fire service things, I imagine the nomenclature changes vastly across the world

Side well or trough. Its not specifically made for hose so I wouldnt call it a hose well. Even though probably 99% of us keep our shorties in there.
